thanks Neil at Italia autos.
Thanks. Great video. Very well explained. This is the third video of yours that I've used as a guide. Ive just changed all four wheel bear ings on my Alfa Brera 2.4 diesel and also done the nearside lower control arm , 4 new brake discs and pads, new abs sensor nearside front but it didnt fail untill after Ide put it all together so had to take the new brake disc and hub off to gain access as it was fused in its hole with 17 years of rust. I really like your videos as they give me the confidence I need to get the work done that needs doing. Top banana. God speed.
Thank you for that video. I change in my 159 time belt, water pump :-) Engine was in the car. I Change time belt firs time in my life. :-) All the best !
Glad it helped
Thanks for that video on my favorite of the Alfa Engines
Thanks man just done mine, seems to work fine. I can't thank you enough
Excellent, thanks, a well timed video, no pun intended. I'm just about to do my 159.
Thanx for the video, I will tackle this job tomorrow. Looks very do-able compared to my last renault with keyless sprockets.
Glad it helped
Great guide Neil.
helpful diy, i am personally looking forward to a clutch replacement on a 1.9 :) that is a bit of a challenge, took me 3 days to get is sorted
thanks your videos are super helpful, cheers
Thanks for the video.
Audio is perfect, I think you've found your preset!
Right place to maintain any Alfa obviously!
Hey Neil,
and other Jtd owners out there.
P0016
Just found out what was wrong with my just acquired 159 2.4jtdm 200hp.
I had the code p0016 come on, and it took me five days to figure out. For anyone with the same code, it might be your timingbelt sprocket on the crankshaft that sheared of it’s alignment key on the crank. Seams to happen sometimes, usually around 230-280k km.
I hope I could help people with this, rather rare problem. Cheers
Thank You very much ! Tomorrow for me a big day :D Dzięki bardzo, pozdrawiam ! SIŁA !
You here when the crank pulley is time for change. The multi belt start to squeak.
That's a brilliant explanation
thanks
Very good guide, I've got this engine on my 159 (really it's tuned up to 240hp...) whit 350MKm, I love it but the multi v pulley noise........
excelent guide
its a lot easier to see the process when the engine is out. Helped a lot with my 156 V6.
Great vid thanks. Could you tell me what the torque settings are pls on the tensioner and exhaust cam sprocket? Cheers.
Great guide, thank you very much!
Hi, can you Show how to change only the V-Belt of the alternator on the 2.4 Engine? Thx
Great video! How many klm or how long before the break fluid gets changed or flushed?. I bought a brera 2.4 diesel 3 years ago. Thanks...
Hi! Can you please tell, what is the principle difference between engines 2.4 939A3000 and 939A9000 ?
Hi, nice video. I've got a new belt with two timing marks on it 65 teeth apart, but on the engine the belt is 66 teeth apart. Which is correct? Was done wrong last time or is the manufacturer wrong?
Do you know is there any tool also for crankshaft to lock it in place? I have seen similar engines on other GM/Fiat cars and there have been tool also for crank. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks so much for your videos they are awesome. Do you have one on how to change a head gasket on a 159 2.4?
Thanks and I don't
Very good video, thank you! What's your opinion on a clutch and flywheel replacement on a 159 2.4? Is it possible with the engine in?
I have a 159 2.4 and yes you can replace the clutch with engine in, but it's long job....anyway enjoy to work on Alfa😀
@@stingrayfull ... the rear wheel drives were a pleasure to work on .. ..
Hi there from Norway - and thanks for the step by step video. I wonder: What kind of battery power tools do you use (brand and capacity)?
Sealey and dealt 18v
That's pretty big engine.
Hey mate,I've got a 2.4 jdtm ti 2007.
It's at 104 000 km.
Should I change it or can I wait till 150k km?
Can you shoot an episode of 2.4 A / C belt replacement? Thank you
Super hard job on your own. Hate doing them.
Hey Neil, what intervals do you recommend for cam belt + water pump? Seems 3 years is the recommended for petrols, but for diesels I hear mixed opinion - all between 3 and 5 years. Thanks!
Tisho yeah 3 for twinspark and Jts 4 for v6 and diesel.
My belt matches with the cam and fuel pump wheel factory marks, but the crank mark is off by several tooths to line up with the belt. Also I locked the cam with the tool and all wheels match with the marks made by the one who replaced it last. Any suggestions?
Re time it and rotate it by hand.
@@ItaliaAutos The circle on the crank is a couple teeth past bdc. Should I rotate that slightly backwards so its right at the bottom and then fit the belt?
What mechanic did is remove the right wheel or where the steering wheel is and work on the engine from above and side below you get access to all that without taking engine out.changed the timing belt and then months later the waterpump and tensioner pulley and such.Good engine although heavy one.The crankpulley also can be changed from the side and best sign of it being worn out is hesitancy and clanging noise at idle which goes away when accelerating!
i never said you had to take the engine out. this is a scrap engine. think i said all this in the video. thanks for watching.
@@ItaliaAutos yes i know , i was just saying there is an easier way when the engine is inside incase some viewers dont know or want to know more at their private mechanic!its clear in your videos that you do it on engine out etc to help viewers understand more👍.i also watch all your videos cause i have a 159 2.4 jtdm only sad part is i am not in the same country alas.if i was i would definetly get my cars fixed at your place and even a paint job whole car.😭 sadly not same continent
@@razielkain2304 thanks mate, I'll give it a go your way!
crankshaft is not locked? what if the crankshaft position moves after removing the old belt?
Timing marks on the belt. So as long as they match up its in time.
Hello
I have a 3.2 jts and need To replace belts and tensioners.
Do u think its possible To do or engine in the car?
Thanks a lot for your videos!
You said it turns over easier because there are no injectors in it - is this engine direct injected? Thought all the JTD motors were port injection
Strike86 direct injection.
JTD is commonrail therefore direct injection.
Rotating the engine backwards van upset the timing, but since you are taking out the timing belt, it does not matter that much
Can you tell me what the torque specs are for the crank pulley
Did you manage to get the torque specs ? Just about to do mine and really looking for the tensioner & water pump bolt torque most importantly but all the others would be really helpful. Thanks
@@Lee_Pitcher sorry bro I couldn't find them ive got it for sale as the clutch has gone aswell so kinda gave up hope you have better luck
@@breene782 Sorry to hear mate. Appreciate the fast reply though. Hopefully you'll sell it soon. All the best
And how much would it cost in English pounds for someone to replace one of these?
Around £300.
I'll wager folks have cursed a few times trying to do this themselves with the engine in the car... hehe
@Eddie Hitler was the 156 the last of the Busso V6 ?
@@novi0974 that would have been the Alfa Romeo GT.
My one the camshaft pulley broke and wedged the auxiliary belt in the timing belt 👞 Italians they can only make pasta and pizza 🍕 German cars they have cover to protect the timing belt
The screwdriver on the timingbelt to get the spanner up is not realy the right way... There is a slot, where you can use a tool in, to ajust the spanner and not press with a screwdriver on the new timingbelt with te risk to damage it...
Would you be be talking about the German efficient way?
I think in practice you really need to remove the engine to do this, insufficient room in the car.
Na loads of room
themanmaschine there is plenty of room. The inky awkward part is getting the mount out, which really isn’t too bad. Take it from me, I fit these quite often at the same time as replacing the inlet manifold
