“Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece” Thank you so much for your tips. God bless you. I moved to the US 7 years ago and I have been afraid of applying to engineering jobs even though I studied engineering in my home country. I am finishing up a Bachelors in Mathematics. I wanted to have a degree from the US so companies can take me serious. I’m graduating next semester and ready right apply to jobs.
Thank you for all your help, Mr. Hanson. I will be sure to let everyone know the good that comes out of your excellent resume guidance for me. - Mechanical Engineer, attending school in PA.
What about putting a section for software tools on the resume? i think that is very important so the company knows that you dont need additional training to use the software used by them.
As long as it is software that is unique. All engineers should be able to use Inventor, Ansys, Matlab, Solidworks, Excel. Those are things that should be understood that Engineers already know how to use so no need to include those. If you work those softwares into your experience descriptions, it would be better. Hope this helps.
2:56 Companies aren’t allowed to discriminate based on religion. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects employees and applicants from discrimination based on religion so really, it’s YOUR bias Hanson.
@@gunsupreview2720 No, what I’m saying is that you’re not gonna be excluded for simply being Christian or any other religion because it’s illegal under federal law to not hire someone simply for their religious beliefs unless the company chooses to break the law in which case they’re gonna get in a lot of legal trouble.
@@gunsupreview2720 But your religious beliefs if you truly believe them should never be hidden or something you’re ashamed of. If you’re not gonna be discriminated against in hiring, which you won’t as it’s illegal, then other people’s opinions of or what they think of you are irrelevant.
@@janoycresva276well yes it’s definitely illegal but obviously they’re not gonna state it as the reason of ur rejection.. they’ll likely make some other stuff up but in fact ur race/religions was the reason why.

I agree, he forgot to put skills, idioms and software tools, also courses that you did outside your university.
Hey Dr. Hanson! Thank you so much for the videos! What about cover letters? Should I have one?? Any advice for what to put on them?
And what about references?
Very very helpful, however is it possible to add in references or is that not necessary.
thank you this has all been super helpful!
I heard it is advised not to mention dangerous or risky activities such as motorcycles or climbing.
Can you link the Resume Please good sir? So I can accurately read the details? Thanks!
You did show us sections of an example resume, but never the whole page at once. That would have been immensly helpful to see the whole thing.
At the end of this video you can see the whole page at once :D
I don’t have anything to put for honors and awards 😭

@@janoycresva276 so you’re saying that since the law doesn’t allow bias, there won’t be any? I’m afraid you live in a fantasy. Thanks for the comment.

@@janoycresva276 I agree 100%. But there will still be bias so what I’m saying is just avoid all toghether.
