    In this video I go over engineering interviews and what to expect. I focus mainly on interviews for internships and entry level jobs.
    Note that everything in this video can apply to an engineering jobs OR an internship.
    When interviewing for an engineering company it's possible that you'll be asked technical questions. These are questions where you may have to draw a free body diagram, solve a simple circuit problem, or write a simple program on the whiteboard. These won't be too in depth but it's important to have a foundation for basic engineering principles.
    You'll be asked some typical interview questions which I discuss in the video such as "What was one obstacle you've had to overcome as an engineer?"
    And don't forget to ask questions at the end! You want to show that you have an interest in working for the company. You can even prepare questions beforehand that you will ask at the end of the interview.
    Interviews will all differ but these were some consistent aspects that I came across and heard from people.

    If you answer those questions correctly does not mean you can handle the hands on and solving real technical problem on what you will working on it. The interview is set to give the interviewer how you love and know your major. IF you failed, it does not mean you are not an engineer, just tell the interviewer that you can prove it on real technical problem by hands on and math solving. Don't lose hope my engineer friend! peace

    Had a couple interviews with component makers like Texas Instruments (I'm also an EE major). They actually get impatient when you think out loud and don't just spit out the answer. It feels more like a hazing session than an interview to see if someone will be a good investment as an employee. I'm kind of losing hope in the job search.

    On that "Salary Negotiations" part, why do some people (especially managers, CEOs, etc) put down "$1" as their salary expectation, even though they know they are most likely getting far more than that in terms of total compensation? Examples include: Mark Zuckerberg, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John F. Kennedy, Elon Musk, and more.

    What do you recommend doing if you accept two job offers? I got one offer early on in a location I am not crazy about, and accepted because I was initially interested. Then a company in my city of choice offered me a job and I accepted that immediately.

    • @ohozo7292
      @ohozo7292 3 роки тому +1

      Another reason I accepted the second one, the first offer I received requires security clearance, and a long road to employment. I was worried that I would not make it through and did not want to decline the other offer only to find out I didn't make the security clearance.

      MajorPrep thank you, that makes me feel a lot less hopeless. It has only been a month or so of looking, but I was definitely getting discouraged. I also have decided to go to graduate school in 2018 to get my masters in Control Systems.
      I can’t go to job fairs at the university I graduated from because that was in NY and I have moved to AZ. I may move to CA depending on if I cannot find a job here.

      Hey Jason, I know how you feel. I applied to 60+ jobs in 2011 and still only got interviews at places where I knew people. 80% of jobs are no even publicised online, so you have to be an incredible candidate to just come in off the street. I highly encourage you to network more, as it's all about who you know. There's a wholllleeee list of things you can do to boost that :) How's everything going right now? Cheers!

    • @SamirKhan-se7kk
      @SamirKhan-se7kk 7 років тому +1

      I really wanna know what happens with this one. I don't have any experience managing projects of any sort and I am about to start final year of my degree. Job interviews are not too far away.

    • @zachstar
      @zachstar  7 років тому +18

      If you haven't ever managed people on projects it's okay. So if they ask you about a time when you managed people you can say something like "I haven't formally been in charge of managing a team, but I have been assigned a specific task on a large project where I was expected to....." and you can talk about how you had to kind of manage your own task on the project so that everything fit together in the end. Even if it's not engineering related, I'm sure there is something you can come up with.
