Classic Game Room reviews DRAGON SPIRIT: THE NEW LEGEND for Nintendo Entertainment System from Namco released in 1990!
The 1990 sequel to Namco's arcade game, Dragon Spirit, delivers solid dragon-powered 8-bit action!! This Xevious inspired vertical scrolling shooter will have you blasting enemy dragons with fire lasers and bombing ground targets. Pick up weapon power ups and try not to kill your dragon. - Ігри
Thank you so much for making this review Mark! My mom and I used to play this game for hours when I was a kid. The feels
I remember back in 91, I asked a classmate how to beat the firebird. he said, "just keep shooting it". mind blown as a kid. loved, love and always will love this game!
That needs to be a bullet point on the back of more game boxes: "We got explody things!"
I loved this game as a kid. Lord Karnage, you are by far my favorite game reviewer on youtube!
I loved this game when I was a kid! I couldn't remember the name, but now I will buy and own it once again. Thank you!
Also, great video!
I have been subbed to this channel for about 6 years and I have never been so happy with a review. The branching paths in the game so far ahead of its time
Just recently bought this game again and beat it. I loved this game as a kid!
My only complaint is that you neglected to touch on the golden dragon run of the game. Anyone familiar with the game will recall that playing as the golden dragon not only gave you 2 life bars as opposed to one, but it also skipped about half of the game (give or take a few levels). This made it much easier to complete the game, while at the same time making the blue dragon much more rewarding (including an exclusive true ending, second final boss.) It was a very ham-fisted way to introduce a difficulty slider into a game of this genre, but effective and memorable nonetheless. In any case, thanks for bringing this classic of my childhood back into view for others to see.
MrAndthoughknee this was the first game I got with my first console. Aside from Mario/ duck hunt. You are right and, I love nes but, this is my favorite. Kudos on your comment.
MrAndthoughknee 1988 was a great Fucking year for me.
this game is so effing awesome.. grew up with it playing with my cousin and brother.. hidden gem.
I miss CGR, this was only 4 year ago 😢
That space arcade looked really cool too
I've been watching your videos since 2007. It always seems to be great content. Thank you Lord Karnage xD
I'm still surprised how far along games have come. I really like this game as a kid and is one of the few retro games I still play today.
This game was a favorite of mine as a kid. I still can't get over the fact that the "start game" chime is the same as my door chime in my ford. Only so many people have these thoughts lol.
Okay, this looks pretty cool. Especially the cutscene of the guy turning into a huge dragon at the start.
it's a really good game. had when I was little. sick music
OMG I remember in the 90's envying a childhood friend for having a Turbografx and it's respective version, then being thrilled as hell to find the NES version.
Definitely one of the more solid shmups for the NES.
One of the best games on the NES.
Oh my god. I was watching your Gradius review just a bit ago and I was like, "Man. I bet you anything this guy would love Dragon Spirit." And lo and behold.
This game is a seriously SERIOUSLY underrated classic shooter that I have never heard anyone mention in reviews of old classic NES games.
This was my very first run in with this genre, and it started out so well because this game is probably my first "big boy" game because this game taught me as a person who was starting to play games that I should keep trying as hard as I can. So I ended up playing the first two levels until I could seriously get through every part with no damage. After that the game just clicked for me and I understood that sometimes damage doesn't mean I instantly lose and that I can recover and win.
The day I first beat Dragon Spirit without cheating with a game genie, at least I think I used game genie on it, was monumental for me. I was so happy.
You should try Dragon Sabre by the way.
Lastly, the swamp looking level of Dragon Spirit gave me a nightmare once. I hate that stage tremendously.
This reminds me of Cyvern The Dragon Weapons. A spiritual successor to Dragon Spirit perhaps?
Wow, I literally just picked this game up again a week ago! Great game :)
Gulden Draak is a very tasty beer. I enjoy your show very much and have been watching for many years now. Thank you for all the great content. I'm from Belgium, if you ever want a special beer from here let me know and I'll find it for you!
Dragon Spirit on turbographix16 was great also.
First. The music is some of the best on the NES. Second. The tree thing? Considering the rest of the Jungle level (the best music in the game btw) that tree is a moment to take a breather. Seriously, I lose a lot of lives fighting through that level. I could probably count on one hand the number I've lost to the boss.
This is one of my favorite games on NES
Wow, how i played this game with my brother, thanks for the review bro. I have the music OST too, this game is my top 10 NES games
One of my favorite NES games of all time. I like this version much better than the TG16 version.
Its been a few days and i had a feeling to check.. now i can have my CGR fix :)
Nice clean intro. Great to see that.
Brings nostalgic memories!👍🍺
maybe it's just my personal nostalgia or something, but I always liked The New Legend better than the arcade game.
I loved this game.....god knows how many times i finished this 🥲
NES text boxes taught me to read and the password entry taught me to write.
I love this one! Doesn't get nearly enough attention. Also, in all of my time playing I have never seen the grayed out people. Maybe the cart is messed up?
one of my favs for the nes
Finaly I know what game the dragon statue in Marvel Land is from
Is this going to be on the test? Is this going to BE ON THE TEST!?
I love these Shump reviews
Great review as always.
You are the reviewer master!
I loved this game on the NES. The arcade version is significantly harder though.
+Lord Karnage I just managed to find a copy of the game at my retro game store for around $8.00
Got to get this game for the NES...
I need this!
This game could use more truxton with vector graphics. Still an alright title though.
+Ryan Amberger Who needs Truxton when you have a triple-headed dragon?
+Centipede I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.
*bows to the almighty Truxton*
+Centipede Truxton is like bacon. Unless you cant have it for religious reasons you want it on and in everything
Maritime Retro Massacre
What, like in cake?!
I didn't know there was an NES version, I'm familiar with the TG16 one which I have yet to play... It looks okay...
Powerups reminded me of the Volkswagen sign as a kid
Gulden Draak? Oh boy... Mark dosen't mess around!
Awesome😈
I got the TG16 version on the VC thinking it was the same as this version. Sadly it's not :(
+thaneros no.. it's a direct port of the arcade game.
I thought it was going to be 16bit powerhouse version of the game. Still a good game but I prefer the NES one.
Oh shit.. the original Panzer Dragoon.
My favorite game
My favourite NES game :)
I always thought those things at 3:41 looked like fried chicken.
Is this the same Dragon Spirit where if you die in the prologue, you play as a different dragon and take on a new set of levels?
+The Froyuken Files yes
I've played this one via emulation, and it's not a bad game, but with ya Mark on getting it only if you can find it at a good price.
LOLOL! Those poor walruses!
I love dragon
Saw this at the pawn shop. Looked like a RPG from the cart picture:/
5:33 yah sure tell that to the bartender. You can't even stand, let alone fly lying there like a over growen lizard lol
Before Panzer Dragoon, there was this.
nice game thank's
What's the absolute best shmup on the NES? I'm talking about the number one best.
+Toonses I think its either gun nac or crisis force
+common rider I second Crisis Force.
Guardian legend!
Crisis Force. Recca or Gun Nac.
+Toonses Crisis Force follow by Recca Summer Carnival 92.
sweet
When People send in games, does CGR keep the games or are they just borrowed for the review?
You can get infinite lives if killed by bomb and bullet at the same time you get a square shield and the dragon becomes golden
space peta might not be hyped about the walrus's... or walrii
I just got two of these games with my PC Engine, I suck at them.
Ironic Bandai was influenced by a Namco game with this one. Now that both companies have merged
into Super Fighter Namco Bandai.
Who doesn't love Vanguard~? lol
this game is very good
Is that saying much when comparing it to The New Class?
got this for tg-16...never got into it. weird premise.
I really like this one, it's also cheap as hell. Way better than xevious imo. The music is great.
Hey is this game like XEVIOUS?? I didn’t catch it the first billion times you said it.
Let's see some gyromite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needs more cowbell.
Oh snap! Under 301 club.
It looks like. Super Duper. file motionless What's your opinion about it, guys !!!
The turbo graphix version is better in just about every way.
this is just 1942 with dragons
You could make that argument with any shooter.
Dj Rant Not any shooter. Contra was a shooter and was 100 times better and nothing like 1942
0451 Shodan Sorry
I assume you returned the analogue nt, cos the footage looks terrible.
CGR used to be better. I miss the old review style.. now it's just churn out 5 minutes of whatever everyday, content over quality, I miss the old CGR days
What ever happened to Mohammad from Qatar? Did he die?
Great Game, Great Game, Dragons don't exist, just a Chinese myth created by the Devil that is copy inside there brain.
Wow, one of the first viewers :))
Looks ho hum, nothing really special to own unless your a collector.
+Riz2336
You are a sexual God.
Wrong again
the game is great, but this looks like shit compared to the pce version O.O
I recently sold my NES collection, including this shitty game.
