About 2 years ago I went on a binge rewatching of futurama, and I think the biggest difference from watching futurama as a kid vs watching futurama in your 20s is how much more you start to relate to fry when you’re in your 20s 😂
As a kid i dont think i appreciated dry humor as much. Lot of good line deliveries i didnt really value with a smaller brain. Zap brannigan bored me bcuz as a kid i thought his gag of being a pathetic desperate horndog was just sad, now as an adult ive lost enough empathy to be able to laugh at him! Haha..
The everyman is a tricky character archetype to get right. If you get wrong, you've got a character so bland that they resonate with nobody. But if you get it right, you've got a character that resonates with damn near everybody, like Fry!

That Star Trek line; 'Cause it taught me so much... Like how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon, or even female... But most importantly, when I didn't have any friends... It made me feel like... Maybe I did. Has to be one of the greatest developments for Fry, the single line pretty much sums up his whole character, but in a really good way... Fry is probably the biggest reason that this show is a comfort show for so many people. The everyman character type, but so perfectly done that nothing really FEELS out of character, he's sad but he's happy, he's someone who suffers with losing everyone he ever knew but has this whole new world to struggle to fit into.
Many of the characters from the show are very well written. They feel like people that could actually exist and that makes it much more interesting. Even bit characters are written with very humanistic traits. Even the evil characters like Mom are given a lot of 3 dimensional aspects and I've found myself even quoting Mom in my own life. "Don't let the door hit you on the way out, I don't want ass prints on my door."
I love the Professor's face when Fry says there'd be more topless women on motorcycles in his film. Like as if he'd personally approve of it. And that's kinda adorable.
My favorite one: Leela: you can’t just sit here in the dark, listening to classical music Fry: I could, if you didn’t turn on the lights and turn off the stereo
Probably the most relatable thing was him with a rush mixtape a 2 liter on a Friday night with no date, so it's some serious gaming time. Lol totally relatable for me but with games like halo 2 or GTA on my og Xbox. Movies and Hollywood make it out like everyone has friends growing up and there's always a party every weekend. Yeah not for me that or I just wasn't invited to any party's gotta be able to live with yourself. Also those people in highschool I can promise you that you'll never see them again, so enjoy school while you can

The reason why Fry is my favourite character is that despite him being in the future, he doesn't diss the good parts of the past & actually tries to teach his new friends & family as to why some of the past stuff was so memorable & good in the first place. Heck, it's 2022 now and I still watch older films, older animated TV shows & play older games on PS2 & PS3 systems even to this day. Just because something is new, doesn't always makes it better.
Like 10. His 1999 GF, Amy, Leela, the crazy chick from the Yivo movie, the decapodian lady, like 3 different snu snu amazonians, Morgan, his grandma and robot Lucy Liu, sigh.
Futurama has always been one of the most touching and funny shows I ever watched. It's sad that all good things have to end, but it would be worse if they didn't end and kind of just fell off into obscurity or become bad, like The Simpsons.

People wonder why this show is so good, the answer it was written by highly educated people. Every science based joke or problem are actual mathematical equations and theories and they planned things out, case in point one episode the professor creates a machine that swaps a persons consciousness with another's but doesn't allow the two same people to swap with each other again. As you can imagine things quickly get out of hand and they need to find a way to fix it, which basically meant getting as many people mind swapped as possible to make a massive mental change chain, and if you sit down and watch all the people who it goes through to get everyone back in their proper bodies it actually works out correctly. Shows like Family Guy and American Dad fail where this one succeeding because the writers are just trying to get to the next joke or reference. Futurama however focused on making their characters feel as real as possible and that's why even though the series has ended a total of five times now people still want more and a fifth revival is on its way.

Apparently they had a great discussion, which ended up getting recorded. In which the horrible experience was sincerely apologized for, and even made up for. As the guy actually brought it up. Just goes to show how relatable this is. I don’t think I ever felt that way with a show in all honesty. Star Trek is just the one show I’ve consistently heard this about. This is the fry I liked, funny, relatable, insecure, with a great heart, but with defects, like any human being. A perfect comedy character. The Futurama revival and movies made him such a tragic and cheesy character, focusing so much in his romance with Leela, that I couldn't believe his stupid humor anymore. He felt like a soap opera actor. His crush with Leela was just a part of his character.
Why did they have to ruin Fry by trying to make him the perfect guy for Leela? Is Leela perfect, actually? Isn't true love, when you love somebody, just the way he/she is, despite all of his defects, like Fry loving Leela despite her eye, or tentacles (in one ep)? Sorry, but that's a terrible lesson. In reality you'll never find a guy or woman that fits your desires perfectly, neither you'll be perfect at anytime. In order to get and keep someone to love you just the way you are, you'll have to love that person just the way it is as well, and tolerate his defects. If the only way for Fry to get Leela, is being Mr perfect (mature, intelligent, Dr, talented artist, etc.), then Leela is just not worthy.
