I am a weekend mechanic and this is how I change engine oil on my car. Please be careful while getting under any vehicle as it can lead to serious injuries and even death.
I put the used oil in the container and dispose it at Shell petrol station where they change oil or give it to Maruti service center when I go for my periodic maintenance. Do not throw the oil in drain as it is hazardous to the environment.

Awesome 196000km, I'm only on 50k in 10yrs. Great clean engine bay by the way.

    Dear Mukul,
What gear oil are you using, it is mentioned gl4 75w90 in the manual, its hard to find gl4 oils these days.

Hey Vimal, If your lucky the SC might have a Shell Spirax GL4 75W90, since they order in large containers.I have switched to Bosch or Mannol based on availability. 🙂

Damn. 196000, i can trust you. When you said conventional you meant mineral oil? I got an old ritz, so will do the service soon, was cgecking manual online it was written 5w30 synthetic.

Thanks a lot, yes I was talking about the mineral oil. It's good to switch to synthetic if your car has done less than 50000km. Otherwise there is high chance of leaks from seals. I still use mineral oil and the engine is smooth, since it was designed for mineral oil. I remember the switch to synthetic was advocated by service advisor somewhere in 2013 and I had already covered 35000+ kms so I wanted to stick to mineral oil and see how it goes. The car has not had any problems so far. Crossed 2,00,000km and engine still going strong. I would be more than satisfied if it crosses 2,50,000 without an issue. 🙂

Mines is a 2015 model, with clock 25k, hope so meter not tampered, I downloaded the manual, it said 5w30 synthetic for petrol ritz. Just I was curious since swift and ritz share same engines so I checked it's manual also and it was recommended 0w20. I was shocked and couldn't understand much so as why they mentioned that. 😂😂

Now I am in a dilemma 😔 what oil the previous owner was using. No contact with them.

Yes, 0W20 is the synthetic version. If it's just 25,000km, hopefully not tampered. Then I guess switching to synthetic will be a good option. Also if it has been serviced in Maruti Service centre, they will have a record as well if synthetic oil was used earlier. 🙂

Everything from Essarr automotive in Bangalore. They sell genuine MS spares. Or you can order online at Boodmo.com. Oil filter is about 150/- 🙂
