I think it's probably more accurate to say that this is Gibson 's response to Gretsch and D'Angelico who have been one-upping Epiphone and Gibson for several years... Gibson won't make enough of these to hurt their sales...
They had a really sweet example in my local music shop, I played it a couple of times and when I finally decided to pull the trigger, it had been sold. I've played others since and they were all nice guitars but I deeply regret not buying that particular one when I had the chance 😑
I often get the feeling that Gibson keeps Epiphone on a short leash, because every time Epiphone have been free to do their own thing they've outshone Gibson.
@@JohnSmith-ki2eq True. I love my Gibsons but a well set up Epi with the Gibson pickups/wiring isn’t as far off as the price difference would suggest. I was genuinely surprised by one of the Epi 59 outfit Les Pauls I tried recently and that’s what convinced me to reconsider Epiphone and get this ES-335 after many years of avoiding the brand. Gibson likes to demarcate their guitar lines with custom shops at the top, Gibson USA in the middle and Epi at the bottom. I def feel like they try to make the lower end lines less desirable in some way to keep incentive to buy their pricer guitars.
It has?! I just got the es339 in 2020 inspired by Gibson line...pretty sure still available but I could be mistaken..was the pro version in between the 335 and 339?
@@ericwarrington6650 It seems to have been. The difference was the cutoff of the humbuckers into singles. And there was also a version with p90. Both have been discontinued. Now there is a version with only humbuckers, at least on the official Epiphone website.
@@ericwarrington6650 Understand. But I'm just a big conservative and I don't throw money around in vain, although I wildly like to walk around the websites of different guitar brands and read their characteristics. But for the most part, still a stratoman.
There is contact! -) It turns out that Epiphone ES-339 has a small body!! -)) It is human (me) to err. ) I don’t know for sure whether I’ll take it myself, because the mechanical acoustic sound that it makes is quite loud, and it doesn’t suit me. I'm more of a Stratoman. But I really like to look at the characteristics of different brands. -) So it goes!
I love the inspired by Gibson 335 I got the blueberry burst love it
Bought my Black-beauty ES335 Epiphone Dot from Guitar Center in 1999. Has a Gibson truss-rod cover and Grover tuners!! Super sweet!

I remember that TOKAI you used to have! THAT thing was a beast!
That Epi looks the goods tho! \m/
Ordered a Lefty from Sweetwater, the new Epiphone guitars are amazing
I’m considering buying one, leftie also. Would you recommend?
@@rmoalxa I certainly would, great guitar, and a lot of guitar for the money imho
I wildly liked her PRO version, with a smaller body. Too bad it's been discontinued...

Rent it for a day to see if it's good or not.😅😅😅
Put some low output pickups from Lollar or MojoTone in there and that baby will sing better than a factory Gibson! I love mine
This guitar probably had a full setup and maybe some fret work done before recording pretty sure it didn’t come out of the box playing like this
It came right out of the box. I was the first one to open it :)
How good are these EPIPHONE???
Excellent. You can find my full review on the channel.
@@intheblues t- you ✌️
But it is upside down, haha, does that make it more expensive?
