  • If you're shooting with more than one camera, then you can easily setup Premiere Pro in a Multicam environment so switching between camera angles is a single click...just like a TV studio. Later on, if you want to change your mind, that's easy too, just choose a different camera angle or even add a new camera any time you want.

    I find 6:40 to hold the most important info. While playing, click (red) and it changes. When stopped, click (yellow) and it changes the cut ... CMD click while stopped (yellow) to create another cut. Or CMD+K/Blade it and Yellow Click. This video is what I've been looking for

    You are perhaps the only one who explained multicam like in TV. Even ordinary one-on-one interviews can be on multicam just as with multiple people being interviewed at the same time like a roundtable in a TV show. But no one talks about such situations. Strange.

    Hi, Colin. This video has helped me tremendously, as I shoot with three cameras on my woodturnings, so I can get three different views of the workpiece being shaped. I have hit a problem, however. I create the multi-cam sequences, edit them, then put them on the master sequence. Then, any transition I put between sequences shows a black screen on the right-hand sequence. So the only transition that works is fade-to-black, since it is black already. Have you encountered this? Do you know of a solution, or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks much!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 років тому

      In my example I create a Multicam Source, and switch cameras in the Multicam Master. Are you editing the Source or the Master?
      I just tried adding transitions to the Master and it worked fine.
      Have you tried creating a new Master, then flattening it before adding the transitions?

    • @RickTurnsWoodturning
      @RickTurnsWoodturning 6 років тому

      Thank you, Colin. I appreciate your help. I'll watch your video again. I edit the multi-cam sequence (and no problems with transitions there). Then I add the edited sequence to the main sequence, and that's where I hit the transitions problem. I'll go over the whole process again to make sure I'm doing it correctly. All of your videos, including this one, have been a huge help to me. I started using Premiere Pro about a year ago, and I can't tell you how many things I have learned from you.

I have 128 gigs of RAM, overclocking, liquid cooled system with server class drives and premiere still acts slow. The only thing running on my production pc is Adobe products. That is all I use it for. Unless I pre render everything I have the issue. Even making a cross dissolve causes adobe to act slow. I reinstalled it several times as well.

      I'm assuming that you're talking about multiple streams because this tutorial is about multicam? This tutorial is using HD demo files on an SSD via USB 3 so that's why I'm getting good playback. If you're media is anything larger, like 4k, then you need to create proxies.
      I also find if you are getting stuttering playback, you should stop and start playback again as sometimes that makes things smooth.

I cut my time by more than half by doing it this way. Also syncing is amazing even if you don't have audio or time codes you can put markers in and then sync to markers or snap the clip to it. Hi Colin, greetings from Ireland (again). I will be recording a classical music concert soon, with just 2 cameras. Can I ask: 1) Do I select audio when importing, if the audio is being recorded separately and 2) Do the cameras have to be started at the same time and can they be switched on and off, during recording and still sync? Thanks for any help. Stephen

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  3 роки тому

      If you're using secondary audio then choose 1 camera for the Mulicam Source. That way it won't switch with the cameras.
      Manually starting all cameras is not accurate enough to sync. You need something that controls all the cameras. Something like this:
      tentaclesync.com/
      If you start and stop the cameras, Premiere Pro will put every clip on it's own track. You may end up with dozens of tracks just for a single camera. There's no way to get around this in Premiere Pro.
      PluralEyes does a much better job:

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 років тому +1

      Try importing via the Media Browser. If the Metadata allows it, Premiere Pro will make spanned clips look like a single clip. It doesn't generate new media, it's just a smart import. It that doesn't happen, then the GoPro footage is not spanned and it can't be done.
      You could manually export out a new single clip from multiple clips but that's a lot of extra work and disk space.

    • @ProductReviewkk

      Thanks a lot! So what I think is, you recorded using Camtasia, did basic screen capture editing like the rectangle animation etc., rendered it as a video file and then took that file along with your camera captured video footage and then did the final editing in premiere pro, perhaps just like the multi camera editing that you are describing in this video. Am I right? Because this is what I do and and I just wanted to know whether a pro like yourself does the same.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  7 років тому

      Unfortunately, no. The only way to create a Multicamera Master is to start with a Multicamera Source.

    • @jjmanic8783
      @jjmanic8783 7 років тому

      Yes, you can change it manually! Follow the steps in the VideoRevealed video and let Premiere Pro make a new Multi-Cam sequence from them. Then right click to open that new Multi-Cam sequence in the timeline. You'll see all the camera and audio clips on tracks. You can do ANYTHING you want to those clips... INCLUDING deleting them all, and REPLACING THEM ALL with other clips. Think of it like this: Once you have created a Multi-Cam sequence... you essentially have created a "container" that you can change in any way you want.
      In your case, 1. create the Multi-Cam sequence; 2. Delete all the clips inside that Multi-Cam sequence; 3. go back to your original sequence (that you manually sync'd up all your cameras with bad audio); 4 SELECT AND COPY all of those clips... 6. go back to that new Multi-Cam sequence (which should be empty, since we deleted everything in there earlier), and PASTE your copied clips into the Multi-Cam sequence.
      ALSO: The clips don't need to be contiguous either! e.g. if your project has 1 long take on cam 1, but several short takes on cam 2 and cam 3 that start and stop in various places. Say, like a concert with one main cam for the entire concert, plus 2 cameras walking around, recording several short clips from different angles and songs. You must sync them yourself in whatever way you can (using multi-cam sync doesn't seem to work for this), and after you have them sync'd you copy and paste them into the Multi-cam sequence. IT WILL WORK. (Premiere Pro DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE to sync non-contiguous clips for you though)

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  7 років тому

      Correct, Premiere Pro does not understand that the second camera is "one angle" so to speak. You most likely end up with a new track for each time the second camera shoots something. If that's the case, you can Right-click on the Source Sequence in the Project Bin and choose, Open In Timeline. Now you should be able to select each of the second camera clips, hope down Opt (Mac) Alt (Win) and press the Down Arrow key to move all the second camera clips to one track (V2).
      Now when you put that Source Sequence into a Multicamera Master Sequence, you should only see two camera angles.

    Hello! Coming over from Edius. Finally getting smitten with Premier. I am on a Mac with Premier Pro cs6. I am editing weddings with multi-cam and multi-audio. I have selected my appropriate clips (footage from camera 1,2, and 3) and tried to open up "Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence." All seemed well until I noticed that I do not have the options you do. I only seem to have the options for Timecode. I'm trying to sync through audio but can't seem to access this option which is really what I need to save hours while editing the ceremony (3 cameras w/own audio tracks). What version of Premier Pro are you using? Any idea why I can't access this? Thanks so much.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 років тому +1

      CS6 was so long ago that I forget what options are missing. I'm using the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2018.
      You could buy a third-party sync tool like Plural Eyes or I just found another tool called Syncaila:

    I've edited in multicam sequence and exported EDL. (Adobe Premiere CC 18). When I open EDL of the same, timeline appers blank.
    Kindly suggest.

    • @VideoRevealed

      EDLs do not support Premiere Pro Multicam. You need to flatten the Multicam, then export as an EDL.

      Maybe your system can't play multiple streams of video and it's stuttering?
      If your export looks fine then that would be the problem.
      If your export also strobes, the I'm not really sure. Maybe the media is bad or the cache is corrupt?

    What if you are done with your multicam editing then you use the open in timeline but in another sequence will it still be edited ?

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  5 років тому

      The Multicamera Master should be edited on that Sequence and not put into another Sequence.
      The Multicamera Source Sequence can be editing in another Sequence but I'm not sure what the benefit would be.

    Hi,
    I am windows user and i use Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 for my videos.
    But i wonder what is difference between Adobe Premiere Pro and final cut pro x? ! they do same job just in different tools? or maybe i'm wrong?
    If i switch! then i need to spend some $ to get a good machine. what you recommend?
    Thanks

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  7 років тому +1

      They do the same thing but they do it in different ways. Premiere Pro's advantage is that it works perfectly with any video format and all the other Adobe applications including native import of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. FCP X is easier for some users with less complex projects but there are also restrictions when working in any Apple program. My advice is to stay with Premiere Pro.

    Is there a way to manually make a multi camera sequence. I have one camera with no sound on channel 1 (sound only on channel 2) and it won't recognize it

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  7 років тому

      You can't create a Multicam Source Sequence manually but you can use different clips that do work to initially make the Sequence, then Right-click and "Open in Timeline". Once you have a Multicamera Source Sequence open in the Timeline, you can freely add and remove clips anyway you want.

    Sir,
    Can you figure out what could be the reason that my 'Multi-camera selection view' is greyed out and if I click the icon than I the main view is duplicated but I don't have the angles selection view (only one angle there)? It was fine when I started editing the sequence but at a certain point, it does not allow me Multicam selection anymore. I could not find a solution for that on the web

    Dear good video - my problem is when I work with 4 diffrent camera : 2 gopro 1 sony and 1 panasonic - is very difficult doing color grading :-)

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 років тому

      Premiere Pro CC 2018 now has a Match Color feature in the Lumetri Color Panel. I will have a tutorial on that soon.
      But even with that, it's important to understand that different cameras record information differently. You're not going to make a GoPro look like a RED camera so even with auto color capability, you still have to manually tweak things yourself.
