didn’t realize this before but the bass drum triplets while they’re all shredding is just so fucking sick and it adds so much to it. love this band ! keep it up guys
@@ashplaysbass if anything they get more annoying either when your chord pulls out of the amp and you have to go run to plug it in or when you finish playing and go to unplug and you have to use two hands to do so.
What a great live performance of this song. I'm really glad to see their bassist (Esiah) warm up to the music. He didn't write any of the basslines, or perform them on their latest album ("Homey"), as he wasn't back in the band at the time-- but Esiah has seemingly made these lines all his own. I have to admit that I was a little worried when I saw him play through some of them on his channel, since at times it seemed like he was still getting acquainted with them. Really nice fit into Chon. Love the direction they're going, and I'm really looking for to this band's future. I just got the "Homey" LP on limited print vinyl to support these rockin' fellas, and if you're into vinyl, it's a real sweet one. Highly suggest it. You can find it in the googles.
Wow..man I remember being in bands, playing guitar 10-15 years ago. The stuff back then use to blow my mind. If ANYONE played anything remotely close to this I don’t know how we would have reacted. It would have blown our minds..much like it’s doing right now. This is so good it’s unreal!
just discovered this band last weekend. my buddy had Homey on vinyl unopened and said someone gave it to him as a gift and he didn't know what it was, but i knew sumerian records from Animals as Leaders and said we gotta check this out. GODDAMN. new shit. kids killin it. hope i get to see em on fucking tour soon.
Man I'm so blown away by their compositions (and the skill to play them). The guitar writing, phrasing, melodies, etc were all so unique when they came out. Was the first time I ever felt like a guitar was singing / talking to me. Seems like they helped pioneer this neo-soul influenced riffage that we hear in bands like Polyphia. I'd pay good money to sit in on a Chon writing session.
Awh Mario and his lil bro have come such a long way I used to watch Mario’s acoustic videos a longgggggg time ago. I remember when the first album came out and how excited I was to hear his music put together.

I wish the camera focused in Nathan's left hand during the fast parts. If you're a drummer, you'd know that the comping figures he plays during those portions of the song are absolutely sick!
These guys picked up a hella good, fitting bass player in comparison to the guy that left; and I enjoyed that guys bass playing in Chon quite a lot as well.

Yes! Very nice balance between presence, cutting through the mix when needed, and supportiveness. I love it.

It's a preference. Nathan has always dung that poppin snare. Fits better in the studio
Oh so I'm not the only one that thinks the snare is too tight, thank god I thought I was going bonkers.
