Especially heather, (mainly because maya hawke is one of my favorite actresses) I was so sad that she was killed off in the first ten minutes of the movie. But everytime a character was killed off, my whole family just burst out laughing because it looked so fake and over dramatized . Overall it was a great movie though.

@@spacewalker4984 she cared for 0.5 seconds during the interview with the cop and went on to cuddle and be happy with sam she didn’t grieve at all her little brother who spent less time with them and really had just formed a relationship with them in the events of that night still thought and cared about them throughout and Sam could care less also she didn’t even think to say to deena “I feel terrible because they died trying to save me” like both Sam and Deena are horrible “friends” especially Deena who didn’t care about anyone else and only wanted Sam to love no matter who died in the process

@@thefrug4755 just a reminder that Sam told Kate that she can go if she wants. Both Kate and Simon could leave this suicide squad any moment but they didn't. Blaming deena or Sam for their death is just stupid because Kate and Simon knew the risk and still decided to do it. Besides deena wasn't seen grieving for them at the mall because she was actually busy bringing Sam back to life and didn't hear anything josh told her. Also she payed respect at the police station by not letting officer goode or smth blame Kate and Simon for what happened. I agree that it wasn't enough but Kate will also appear in the 1666 part so their story is not over yet. And I'm sure that we will get to see deena's grief

What do you mean killing Sam and Deena would subvert the genre? Them living is what subverts the genre. Horror movies often kill black people, and there is a whole trope known as "Bury your Gays" because of how often LGBTQ+ characters get killed, but the only survivors of the first movie are Josh, Deena, and Sam, who are either black, LGBTQ, or both.

The second film also subverts tropes by having the clear final girl (virgin, doesn't drink or do drugs, is a teen) die and having C. Berman actually be Ziggy instead. The whole series subverts tropes. Finding Sam and Deena annoying is an opinion thing, whatever, but them surviving is the subversion.

Kate and Cindy's deaths hit the hardest IMO. It was bad enough they died, but the fact they died such brutal and violent deaths is what sucks the most.
I know we’re all upset about Kate and Simon’s deaths, but you gotta respect the fact that they went there. Not all movies will kill off such major characters, and it’s refreshing to see this movie do it differently for once.

I like how these protagonists are actually smart, they don't run like stupid people and die, they actually fight back and do what they can to escape. Probably cause they know the person after them is just a dude. Not some supernatural psycho like jason or art the clown.
