Excuse me, but you needed to know who her SO was before you found this performance “made sense”?? I’m female, genetically and psychologically. I survived med school as a physically disabled person. I’ve worked w/ and lived thru a lot of misogyny. I never thot I’d hear such a comment from someone who’s first name is so feminine. Eder went on to sing “Madam of le Monche.” First diva to do so. Do you also require her husband’s reputation before you respect that?
So true...not to mention that this song is fitter for a pub/bar setting. Good 'n Evil just doesn't give enough impact (for Jekyll's case, maybe yes), in my opinion
i want to show this song to everyone I know. but then im afraid of what they'll think when they listen to the lyrics and ask me "exactly.... how did you find this?"
I know right! My girlfriend says it makes more sense because they don't want Lucy to seem like she wants to be a whore, she just has to do it as a job. Bring on the Men's message is a bit more....promiscuous....than Good N' Evil
I always thought Good 'N Evil gave Jekyll a reason to approach Lucy, as he tells her that her song gave him the answer to his experiment. Whereas it wouldn't make sense for him to tell her that after she sang this song. I prefer Bring on the Men, especially since it reveals more about Lucy's character, but Good 'N Evil fits better in context.
Demar Falco I always thought it would be cool to have Lucy singing Good 'N Evil hen she meets Jekyll, and Bring on the Men later when Hyde goes back to the Red Rat.
The song really doesn't fit the feel of the show, but my GOD does she sell it. Love that woman. One of the reasons I fell for the show in the first place. She's funny, sexy, playful, sly...quintessential Lucy.
I was so lucky to see Jekyll & Hyde back in 1990 starting Chuck Wagner, Rebecca Spencer, and Linda Eder before it became the Broadway hit. This song in particular left me floored as Linda was all over the stage including jumping up on the table at one point and dancing all the while belting perfectly. I went on to see this musical another 6 or 7 times, but nothing ever matched that stellar cast for me. Made me sad when they removed this song from the show.
My parents saw it back in 1990 but sadly I was only 10 years old and they thought I would be a typical bored kid. My mom told me about “Lucy’s” character and Linda Eder’s voice so She played it for me, and I think my jaw fell to the ground and I forgot to pick it up. I was absolutely in awe! From that day on, I was obsessed with her. I wanted to see every show, own every album, and most of all wanted to meet her. When I finally did, I felt like I was in a movie/tv show where the character meets somebody they idealize and cannot get a full sentence out. I was so star struck. She was so beautiful and kind. It was a moment, I wish I could redo, but am so glad I had it.
They stupidly cut it out in the Broadway album. Thank God they brought it back and do a great rendition of it in the recent revival with Constantine Maroulis from American Idol fame.
I could imagine Shirley Bassey singing this - the amusing, almost spoken sections and the theatrical belting would suit her to a tee, I can just hear it in her voice!
I'm so happy I got to see Linda perform this live in the shows first season and before was cut, because it was my favorite part of the whole show and she was fantastic!
she has a very textured voice, she really lets her natural grit out, you can even hear it when she's talking! but it's also very healthy, and she knows how to belt without hurting her voice
There was a time I don't know when I didn't have much time for men But this is now and that was then, I'm learning A girl alone, all on her own Must try to have a heart of stone So I try not to make it known my yearning I try to show I have no need I really do, I don't succeed So let's bring.on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way its time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men I always knew, I always said A silk and lace in black and red Will drive a man right off his head, its easy So many men, so little time I want them all, is that a crime (NO!) I dont know why they say that I'm too easy They make me laugh, they make me cry They make me sick, so god knows why We say bring on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way its time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men They break your heart They steal your soul Take you apart And yet they somehow make you whole So whats their game I suppose a rose by any other name The perfume and the pricks the same I like to have a man for breakfast each day I'm very social and I like it that way By late mid-morning I need something to munch So I ask over 2 men for lunch And men are mad about my afternoon "tease". They're quite informal I just do it to please Those tripple sandwiches are my favorite ones I'm also very partial to buns My healthy appetite gets strongest at night My at home dinners are my men friends delight When I invite the fellas over to dine They all come early, in bed by nine! So lets bring on the men And let the fun begin A little touch of sin Why wait another minute Step this way it's time for us to play They say we may not pass this way again So lets waste no more time Bring on the men! (big men, small men, Short men, tall men I guess that means almost all men, I'm a player, 'long as they are men men men!)
I just saw the new Tour version that's going around before making its Broadway Debut, this song is very much back in it. It was one of my favorites in the show. Mind you this is the new version of the show that I saw. It was my mom's birthday gift. I took her to see Jekyll and Hyde for her birthday.
I think she's laughing because she's thinking about the meaning of the lyrics as she goes, and how ridiculously vulgar they are. Ha. Love the song, she's beyond incredible.
THere is a dialog that happens after or before this performance when watching the whole event (not just this song) in which she explains that its hard to do this song in front of her husband (who is playing the piano).
SHE'S HAVING SUCH A GOOD TIME WITH THIS SONG.
The laughing makes sense now that I know her husband is frank wildhorn(who composed and wrote this)
me: is the laughing laughed by the musical team? they laugh nearly just as same as the theatre live version!
Eder went on to sing “Madam of le Monche.” First diva to do so. wake up,frank wildhorns wife is Japanese musical star from takarazuka
@@hannahbuffy7400 It's like not knowing Sarah Brightman was married to Andrew Lloyd Webber... chill out.
@@hannahbuffy7400 it's the laughter that needed making sense of because it's an inside joke, not the great performance. No need to get angry.
Still don't understand why this song was ever cut from the Broadway version... I love it
Its murica - I totaly understand... sadly...
Was it ?
So true...not to mention that this song is fitter for a pub/bar setting. Good 'n Evil just doesn't give enough impact (for Jekyll's case, maybe yes), in my opinion
But was put back in for the revival with Deborah Cox, but the new orchestrations for that production were horrendous IMO
It wasn’t cut. Good and Evil was cut to add this song in
I LOVE WHEN THE AUDIENCE SAID NO LIKE IN THE SONG HAHAHAHA FUCKKKKK YESSSSSSSS
Likes are at 69 sorry hun
Her laughing at the overzealous drummer is hilarious. And yeah, dat ending is amazing.
"I want 'em all, is that a crime?"
"NO!!"
x'D x'D
She is having so much fun...what a talent...
Broadway fits Linda like a glove. No doubt she's right at home on the big stage where she belongs. Nobody is even close.
I love this song. And Linda is positively brilliant. The voice, the playfulness, the sexiness and naughtiness. Absolutely spot on perfection.
i want to show this song to everyone I know. but then im afraid of what they'll think when they listen to the lyrics and ask me "exactly.... how did you find this?"
Pichi2214 I found Josh Young's performance while browsing through Broadway Backwards videos. Decided to check out this version too.
"I was lucky!"
TRiG (Ireland) SAME!!
Just tell them I showed you it
A drag show ;)
"A little excited there."
no one can hold a note like an Linda Eder
She literally held it for 15 seconds
She just can't keep a straight face! She's brilliant!
People ask why they cut it from the show... Frank probably cut it after realizing she couldn't sing it with a straight face or take it seriously!
Probably😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She did tho
@@Kalim4321 I was making a joke. I know she could perform it seriously with a straight face, I was just joking cause of how she sang it here.
The director, Robin Phillips cut it, not Frank.
NO IDEA why they replaced this song. I feel like it'd have driven the audience wild instead of Good N Evil. Oh well :(
I know right! My girlfriend says it makes more sense because they don't want Lucy to seem like she wants to be a whore, she just has to do it as a job. Bring on the Men's message is a bit more....promiscuous....than Good N' Evil

Jessica Zeller that makes sense. Maybe they should do both
Demar Falco That would be so cool. Lucy is my dream role (and Linda is my voice teacher) so I'd love to sing both. ;)

I love how she's just having fun with it!

Love that woman. One of the reasons I fell for the show in the first place. She's funny, sexy, playful, sly...quintessential Lucy.
I wanna play Lucy so bad..
I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear the entire time.
she was the best lucy

I can't believe her voice, there is no one on the planet that can touch her vocal range, Yes Babs and Celine too
Amazing isn't it? Too bad they cut out this number early in the Jekyll off-Broadway tryouts... :(
I could imagine Shirley Bassey singing this - the amusing, almost spoken sections and the theatrical belting would suit her to a tee, I can just hear it in her voice!
That would be amazing.
She was having so much fun with this!!! This makes me happy as heck.
Played piano for Jekyl and Hyde in high school and this song always stood out as my favorite.
she could literally be laura benanti's sister .. this woman is a vocal beastttt
I was just thinking the same thing
omg yes
I'm so happy I got to see Linda perform this live in the shows first season and before was cut, because it was my favorite part of the whole show and she was fantastic!
Wow...what a voice. Brilliant song and boy can she deliver it!
Love the line "In bed by Nine" I assume if not she goes home.
My favourite line is the double entendre "rose by any other name, and the prick's the same" :P
Concerts would be so much fun if they were like this 😂
Her rendition always brings me to tears!! No one can compare to Linda, The Original!!!
This is on the original cast recording. A++
I like it when she laughed. She is sure impressive!
I love her singing. How would someone describe her voice, technically?
she has a very textured voice, she really lets her natural grit out, you can even hear it when she's talking! but it's also very healthy, and she knows how to belt without hurting her voice
Incredible breath control!
Sounds like a lovely lark!!
i wish linda did more broadway :( really fits her!
Oh, really, no words suffice to describe the masterful perfomance of Linda Eder !
Can she be more beautiful, more generous, more talented? Yesssss, and a thousand times yes, Miss Eder. I love you deeply!
I loved the new rendition with the harmonizing of the other girls in the background.
she has one of the sharpest clearest voices ever sailing thru those high notes like bird in flight
There was a time
I don't know when
I didn't have much time for men
But this is now and that was then, I'm learning
A girl alone, all on her own
Must try to have a heart of stone
So I try not to make it known my yearning
I try to show I have no need
I really do, I don't succeed
So let's bring.on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute
Step this way its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men
I always knew, I always said
A silk and lace in black and red
Will drive a man right off his head, its easy
So many men, so little time
I want them all, is that a crime (NO!)
I dont know why they say that I'm too easy
They make me laugh, they make me cry
They make me sick, so god knows why
We say bring on the men
And let the fun begin
A little touch of sin
Why wait another minute
Step this way its time for us to play
They say we may not pass this way again
So lets waste no more time
Bring on the men
They break your heart
They steal your soul
Take you apart
And yet they somehow make you whole
So whats their game
I suppose a rose by any other name
The perfume and the pricks the same
I like to have a man for breakfast each day
I'm very social and I like it that way
By late mid-morning I need something to munch
So I ask over 2 men for lunch
And men are mad about my afternoon "tease".
They're quite informal I just do it to please
Those tripple sandwiches are my favorite ones

Beautiful lady with an amazing voice
Man, her voice. I can never listen to anyone else’s version.
very entertaining number from Linda...
It's official then.
Linda+Colm are the best singers in the history of brodway!
Love her! Brilliant! Horatio Neate
Linda Eder our queen
Nobodies voice can compare!!!
brianna breezy you seen the Broadway backwards version? Josh made my pants melt
auricstorm The Broadway Backwards version was my introduction to this song. Josh is amazing. This one's fun too, though.
I'm just now finding out that at the end, instead of singing "Brianna Mae" she's singing "Bring on the Men". I'm--
WOW! That's what I call broadway beautiful!
I like this song.
Love her!
I love this.
I saw her in concert. She's electric, effortless....
This is excellence ❤

Performance
what is Linda Eder doing now and when is she releasing a new album
@ richardharoldwilding - saw her 2 years ago touring. Fantastic, of course.
:]
به به !
Barbra who?
Does she seem nervous to anyone else? Or is there some other reason she breaks up laughing more than a few times in this song?
I think she's laughing because she's thinking about the meaning of the lyrics as she goes, and how ridiculously vulgar they are. Ha. Love the song, she's beyond incredible.
THere is a dialog that happens after or before this performance when watching the whole event (not just this song) in which she explains that its hard to do this song in front of her husband (who is playing the piano).
+James Baio And also, the slight hint of a Russian accent during the bridge...
her husband, the one who wrote it, was playing piano aha
@ Zach Martin - comments from the orchestra, audience and her husband who's making faces at her at times
It's too bad Maroulis's Jekyll is... meh.
Nic Mains Love her with Warlow's Jekyll though. Nothing like the original concept album.
The tempo is way to fast for the song.
Nope. Just right.
Anti Feminist Song
The only anti-feminist thing here is assuming that women who like sex and men (and are proud of it) are somehow inferior.
So Marilyn (your icon) DIDN'T like men. HAH!
