This is my favourite song. Your voice and the words make you believe and view the beauty of the world instead of its darker side! This song is enchanting to me.
This song belongs to Linda Eder !!! No other singer should ever even attempt to sing it ! Linda's voice is the most gorgeous voice I've ever heard. I've been lucky enough to see Linda live many many times starting back in 1996. She is as amazing now as she was back then and always so gracious and kind to talk with. A gorgeous lady with a gorgeous voice !
Linda Eder represents,to me, the very best of what a singer is meant to do. The thrill of her voice, the arrangement, & her connection w/song send me every time! Thank you Linda Eder for sharing your talent w/the world. We are all better now! ❤️❤️❤️
The arrangement and performance of this is so wonderful. She sings the chorus 3 times, and each time it's completely different emotionally. First, she's almost hesitant, like she's not sure if she really wants to remember such a beautiful moment. The next time, it's strong and clear, and she's letting us know that it's not bittersweet- it's full of love. And then the last time, after the buildup of the choir, it's like a clarion call. And yet, she completely pulls back for the last line, "It was the best time of my life..." Because this song is not about the power notes, it's about the emotional connection. Brava.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Linda sing live 4 times now and she is by far my favorite singer!! It's so rare that you see someone live and they sound as good as on cd.
One of the very best humans ever- talented and humble she lives the life she has chosen , without the false ego getting stroked. A wise soul who is the very best who lives quietly so that she can have a great career and a great life without all the BS that can go with it .
Often compared with Barbra Steisand.....but for me, Linda Eder beats her on every front. Linda tops my list of best singers and my very short list of top 3 singers I MUST SEE LIVE. I saw her, met her...she's a genuinely warm human being, gracious, happy & funny. Treats her fans amazingly well.
Every time I come accross Linda in any video I feel like I've just fallen in love with her again, and it is a such a beautiful feeling that I want to repeat it over and over again. . . Love you, Linda, I really do. You are the best, the absolute best singer I would love to listen to the moment I depart to Our Father.
When you were a child, perhaps questioning "what if" or "how can I"? You.. DID! Possibly exacting a certain toll on your life, yet Linda... You changed the world sharing your incredible gift as well as your life with all of us. All of us that simply DID NOT. You remain and will forever be my go to, when life seems impossible. I thank you for that.
I’m sorry but I can’t get over this unbelievable voice! I must have listened to this piece a hundred times and I have chills running down my spine! Love you Linda!
I have seen Linda live 5 times. I ran into her, and 2 of her team, in a restaurant right after a concert in Chicago - the second time I saw her live. Though no doubt hungry and tired, she chatted with me and the group I was with. Besides having one of the best voices in America, perhaps the world, she was approachable and genuine, definitely not a diva. If you've not heard her "I Don't Know How to Say Good-bye, " catch it on UA-cam. One of the most thought-provoking and tender songs you'll ever find: a masterpiece!
I'm watching/listening to this again.......the Grammys are on; sadly, there aren't too many really good singers today....some, but not many and certainly no one can hold a candle to Linda Eder.🤩
@katie @horatio --- she tops my list of 3 singers that I MUST SEE LIVE. And I have. Great concert! A really warm and genuine human being.....got to meet her after the show (she's very generous with her audiences). In these days of mechanically created "singing stars" she has the voice...never AutoTuned.... My #2 on the list (about 20 years younger than Linda) had a terrific show and when I met her, I told her she was my second favorite singer---and she asked "so who is FIRST?" When I told her Linda Eder, a moment of surprise crept across her face, and she said "I'LL TAKE THAT!"
The voice of an angel. Delivery is perfect, such an understated talent. I have listened to her for many years in the UK and never been disappointed even if I havn't heard the song she was performing before. Converted my wife close to 30 years ago and just in the last 2 months discovered that my 24 year old son knows and loves her work, he did not get it from me, obviously in the genes.
I was fortunate to see Linda in Jekyll & Hyde on B'way, twice, and in concert three times. She's beyond amazing. I'd pay top dollar to hear her sing the damn telephone book!!!
Not only was Linda's voice in top form (as usual) but did anybody else happen to notice her husband's reaction when she hit that grand note that she hit???!!! It was precious seeing how excited he got. The way he looked at her. It was just beautiful!
Millicent Jones that's actually not her husband but her accompanist after her divorce from Frank Wildhorn. I have seen her live 4 or five times now and she is truly incredible. What a gift.
@TomFritzch Have you seen her tour with guitarist Peter Calo? I love Linda's orchestra-backed belting, but she can really get down with a guitar, too! Peter Calo is an amazing musician, singer....she attracts great people to be in concert with her.
Every so often one of those very rare, special and one-of-a-kind people come along. I first became aware of Linda from her performance at the 1998 "Women Of Broadway" concert at Carnegie Hall. First of all, I was floored by her range and power and then the flawless quality of her voice. Then there is that magical charisma she brings on with her as she owns the stage and immediately draws you in, taking you on a journey with her with each song. Finally, she made a powerful impact on me as one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. On an ego level, people like this often can't take in the full impact they have on others as they serve as channels for something larger coming through them.
first heard her in a ritzy bar in downtown boston as a lounge singer and she took our breath away. can you imagine her paired with a groban or a barbra or a dion? what a duet, what a voice, what a person.
This woman has the best technique i have ever heard. Superior to Celine and Whitney, yet she isn't as famous. She is quite possibly one of the best female vocalists that has ever existed.
At 1:28, 2:35 and 4:15 - Lump in throat, goosebumps, and my eyes welled up - EACH TIME. I saw Linda sing this last night at her concert in Palm Beach. No one told me to bring a box of Kleenex! I teared up during Bring Him Home, too. Like another fan said - PURE MAGNIFICENCE! How lucky we all are to be witness to such a gift.
I just cried...this was so beautifully sang..can it get any better than this I'll surely drop out of breath. She's a force I cannot totally explain. I've never been moved to greater heights listening to any other song. God bless the talent she has been given. Love her rendition of What I Did For Love. Just as awesome and moving as this one.
I saw her in concert at Feinstein's 54 Below in September and she performed this song and it was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed. I was torn between sobbing and grinning like a fool the entire concert. I don't know how she has such a powerful voice and such a range! A voice like hers is so rare, and it aged like the finest wine.
Love this song and she sings it so beautifully. My daughters used this song for a dance they were in when they were young, they loved the song so much. I also get a kick out of her piano player, he really gets into the music.
@@ceecee8757 Nope, the pianist in this was her then-musical director, Jeremy Roberts. She was married to the song’s composer, Frank Wildhorn, but they’ve since divorced.

She has a great voice, but we have others too.. As Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and even some others. "Great voice ever", is very relative and enthusiastic.

One of the best voices in my lifetime. Magnificent.

An underated American singer. Vienna is one of my favorite of her songs.
SECOND TO NONE....THAT'S LINDA EDER'S VOICE! WOW - NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I WATCH/LISTEN TO THIS, I THRILL TO THE BEAUTY OF THIS LADY'S VOICE.
I love how she turns from the mic and looks at the Choir as they have their moment. What a wonderful woman and a powerful voice.

I am from Vienna, and Linda and Billy Joel Songs the best Songs about Vienna 💕
This song exactly says what I was feeling when I was in Vienna again and again. This place is my Utopia.
She's the best at casually killing it!! I always come back to this performance.
