Great review thanks my preferred brand is Enduristan it’s brilliant but they don’t make a bar bag. Not sure how well this would go on my xr400 with the cross bar & bar pad. They are a great idea for green laning especially for a good set of tyre levers.
Good review. I purchased the non media version. I agree with you comments about the clear plastic its almost pointless. Same thing on a Givi tank bag I purchased with similar idea. Never really works. nice in theory, but real world not so. the Wunderlich stuff is addictive. I have several pieces on my GS and always trying more. The good thing about them is , you know it just fits BMW. So there I no messing around with will or wont it fit. It just does. :)
Thanks for the review. Based on your Motech bags review, I bought an Engage tank bag. :-) Would you get this too, or is it overkill? Also, now that you've used it, does it block the instruments at all? PS Which NAV are you using?
I've used it with and without my tank bags. Using just the barbag is fine if you are just taking maybe a phone and a wallet, but I tend to take camera gear as well, so using it frees up some space in my tank bag for other equipment. It doesn't block the view of the instruments at all, which is what most have asked, or been worried about. My Sat Nav is the Garmin 590 in the Touratech Lockable mount.
TheLikeableRider Nice. Does the NAV work with the wonder wheel? I thought only the BMW NAVS worked on these bikes. My bike came with the navigation mount as an option already and I am looking to purchase a unit for it

Mine also came with the Nav mount, but I couldn't be bothered to sell my 590, which I love, to get the Nav, which is pretty much the same sat nav, just so I could use the wheel! Plus the Nav mount that came with the bike isn't lockable, which I didn't like
ItsLotus99 Even though they are both Garmin, it won't fit into the stock mount, bmw have been clever with that. The pin outs seemed to be the same, bmw have made their mount slightly smaller, probably to encourage people to but the Nav

Thats one of the tank bags I haven't been able to get my hands on, I have seen one in my local bike shop and it's not that much differnet size wise from the Trail Tank bag.
No wunder do a small 5l one, same material as bar one, I thought a nice pair together. Also the hugger looks good, picked up my 16 plate XR last week! Love it! Bikes always got to be red too!
from what I've seen Wunderlich seem to have the widest range of products for the XR, you can get all the carbon parts from them too. My seat is the next thing to be changed, not from wunderlich but a custom job. Not that the stock seat is bad, but I've got a guy making me a custom job in exchange for a bit of free marketing for him.
Had a seat done before from the same guy on another bike, he does amazing work!! not gonna give anything away just yet, but sending the seat off next week.
Bit late to add but I think the XL version purely has a bigger screen for your phone. I don't think the bag is any bigger in overall size
Nice review, had my eye this bag and this answers the questions I had. Think I'll go with the classic.

TheLikeableRider exactly, I store for example a "stylus pen" inside to operate the Garmin, of course my phone, visor cleaner, multitool.

I think it would work on any trail bike, especially those with a crossbar.

Yeah because they're designed to fit BMW its a bit hit and miss to try and fit it on other brands. I was lucky and fitted perfectly on the KTM

They're designed to fit BMW handlebars, I can't say if it would fit your KTM, you'd have to check the specs of your bars and compare them to BMW.

Hmmm... Do they fit into the BMW mount? The 595 costs the same as the Nav VI, so I might as well just buy the BMW one, no?
