System of a Down - Serj Tankian - Voice Change - 1997 / 2015

- After watching a few other Serj Voice Change videos here on UA-cam and getting very annoyed at the lack of effort and detail in all of them, having things like a 2002 clip for the years 2003/2004. I decided to make my own using a huge amount of footage starting from 1997 up to 2015. Rather than just using one clip per year, I have used multiple clips from every year (apart from years he hasn't played many shows [2003, 2004, 2009]) going month by month as close as I can get it.
I have tried to use clips from as many different songs as possible while still putting certain vocal parts in for multiple years to hear the change in certain sections (E.G. "Chop Suey" Final Chorus / "Suggestions" Big Scream / "Sugar" Chorus).
Please keep in mind that in all the clips from 2005 / 2006, SOAD is playing all the songs half a step higher (Drop C#) making the vocals higher and mostly harder to sing.

I made my picks based on how his clean vocals were in contrast to his screaming. For example, 2003 had great screams and great clean vocals. Another example is 1997 had decent vocals but insane screaming.

The voice of serj is the same but has no strength on lower/bass voice maybe cause he sings with nose/sounds nasal etc...

2003 is when he changed his voice. Too many years smoking and screaming.
I personally like the change, also screaming for that long cannot be good for the chords. Now he has an epic voice again that lots of people can recognise and he has his own style. Go serj, love this guy!

Да, отвечаю спустя 4 года, но, скажу так, Сержу просто надоела система, ну то есть он не парится с вокалом да, а выступает с системой просто для того чтобы срубить бабла, он просто упростил себе манеру пения, поет в нос а это очень легко, не нужно особо напрягаться, вот и все

I think his voice went from its greatness to what it is now missing what it once had in 2005
Wether you want to admit it he’s changed the style of music he sings and his voice changed along with it. His voice isn’t nasally as much as it’s extremely refined. Before his voice was gritty and not as clean. He’s able today to hit notes with his current voice he definitely couldn’t as he was younger. Plus also age definitely factors in too but his voice, in short, is extremely more operatic than it was before since thats just what he does now.
I need to see him live one day ❤❤

in my oppinion his voice was fine til begin of 2008. he was still able to scream and holding constant high tones. but something happened in 2008 ... the change there is frightening. In the clip from January 2009 his face expression looks like ''my voice got fckd up since last year, oh noooo'' xD

this is dumb.. its a change of musical style overtime across the SOAD albums coupled with a change in recording quality of these shitty live events (some clearly recorded on someone's early 2000 era phone).. a comparison of music straight from the albums would make more sense , but again its a change in style and this video proves nothing to do with "voice change".
