Halo lore theorizing was so much more fun before all of 343's games. I know they brought a lot, but I like the simpler times of "Oh shit man imagine *insert crazy theory*!" My lore was always that humans are the forerunners, so everything we come across that's forerunner, was just forgotten knowledge. Makes the Covenant's genocide against the humans be so poetically ironic. They would be killing their literal gods, or atleast their children. And Master Chief, their demon, would be a heavenly hero defending the covenants gods against the covenant themself. Bro fuck me Halo is fucking cool.
Steve Downes (the voice of Master Chief) was the first actor to portray Peter Quill, Star-Lord in a Marvel TV show or movie. Star-Lord's original origin implied that he was born of immaculate conception, implying that he was the second coming of Christ. This is probably just a coincidence though.
I have a question, why couldn’t the forerunners just jump outside the kill zone of the rings. Like just far enough out of the galaxy, before they fired them…..? They could have build a ring for themselves or how ever many was needed. Jump out of the galaxy, wait for the flood to die And then jump back in to repopulate the galaxy
I do wonder what the writers of these old theories think about the franchise nowadays, if they still follow it. Like, when I joined the Halo fandom and became a fan of it, it was "relatively" late in the franchise. 2008. (Even though I did know the games since CE and have played it. I joined a forum themed around Halo and joined the ranks of fanfic writers there, eventually writing my own story within the story, envisionning what would Halo become after H3, if a sequel was to ever happen. All the while reading the chapters uploaded by the other writers of the forum. Were we wrong about our predictions ? Mostly. But the feeling you have when a minor, little tiny details that you imagined years ago as part of your very own story, ended up being true, well that's certainly something :P Makes me think that I probably owe apologies to one of those writers from the forum, whose story's main character was a sangheili with a bionic left arm and with which I often argued about how it would be frown upon by the species xD
@@proper7439 Then one possessed with a demon was brought to Him, blind and mute, and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 All the people were amazed and said, “Is He not the Son of David?” 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This Man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.” 25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. And every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. Then how will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore, they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 “Or else how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods unless he first binds the strong man? @@jakespacepiratee3740 His point is that Jesus was accused by the religious leaders of the day, who were in error, of operating by the power of a demon. And so in the same way Jesus was accused by the religious leaders of being a demon-force, so is the Masterchief accused of being a demon by the covenant.
Something I noticed is that the logo he showed at 14:28 appears to have the map of the station on it, look at the Lower left corner of the map and the logo, they both have that large segmented bit on them. Also both of them appear to have that empty area in the middle but the square on the logo cuts it off. I don’t know if it’s a perfect fit but it looked similar.
When the Bungie page threads about halo were opened, during the Combat evolved era (yes, I'm that old). A lot of people knew this, but in those times, they censored any religious threads. We couldn't talk about it.
I mean, look at their other games, not just halo and destiny, but a lot of the other games are tied to the lore. Kind of wild when you think about it because each game does have ties but it’s not full-blown ties just yet it’s like they’re slowly pinching them together.
6:17 Where are you getting that 'anything on a halo ring is immune to its effects'? I don't think that's accurate. Per halopedia: "While organisms aboard the twelve older rings were safe from the Halo effect itself due to its directional nature, any sentient being would still experience an uncomfortable sensation in the vicinity of the pulse.[105] .. .[11] Any living creature on the newer seven rings, however, would be killed and need to be reintroduced following the firing of the array."
From what I have heard from others, halo has multiple references to the Bible. The story is loosely related to the storyline of the Bible, The Creation, the Fall, Redemption, and Restoration.
Howard may have gotten the idea of the Halos being portal devices wrong, but they certainly got close in one weird way: notice in the text of their post, they say... "I think one of the names of the nearby planets to the halo is actually the word gateway in a foreign tounge- but I don't remember for sure." The gas giant that Alpha Halo orbits is, in fact..."Threshold".
"Halo is a Gateway" Simply put: No. Definately not. And i think they never were intended to be Gateways, because Bungie back then probably knew about the Franchise "Stargate" and that they'll probably get sued because of copyright BS. To explain for those who have no idea what the Stargate franchise is about (i mean, despite looking at the name of that franchise, which is kinda self explanatory): You basically have hidden portals (ring shaped), that are scattered across the universe and beyond and these portals are all connected in some sort of Gateway network and Stargate's version of the Forerunners are the ones who built these portals. These guys didn't die out, they ascended to a higher plane of existence, so there is a difference between them and the Halo forerunners. And then there is atleast one "Supergate" in Stargate. And this thing would be the closest we come to copyright BS when the Halo rings would have been Gateways, because the Supergate is probably the same size as a Halo ring and is supposed to not only allow space travel of humans, but entire Starships. So yeah, Halo rings as a gateway could have been problematic for Bungie.
Love the video Experia, this would probably explain why i love halo so much seeing its connection with biblical texts, now i need you to read the bible with halo music over it
To the point of the Master Chief being a Christ-like or Messianic figure: it could also be interpreted that Christ Himself was a vessel for God's will, a Being beyond mortal comprehension, but His human Manifestation (Christ) is bound by the rules of the world he exists in (He needs food/water, can be injured, can die etc.). As such Master Chief is controlled by the player, and while Chief is limited by the rules of the game world (insert any game mechanics here), the player who is guiding and controlling him is beyond such limitations. Due to this, Master Chief is really the only character that can have any significant influence over the course of the story, and in essence is that Christ-like or Messianic figure because he is the only one who can save everyone in the story. Plus the whole respawn mechanic in the game and Christ's resurrection could also be a cheeky association there too ;)
I mean... Marathon, bungie's trilogy before Halo, did all that! A nameless hero, one who beat back countless impossible odds, reincarnated thousands of times as famous rage filled warriors of old, and in the future.
Marathon is Not Halo, yeah it is oddly similar, that’s why both are from the same company, also when Halo CE was launched, bungie stated until 2004 that MC was indeed the Security’s Officer from Marathon, that is why you can see marathon logo on Halo CE logo behind the Halo title, on Keyes uniform, even on the monitor that almost makes MC to blow up the galaxy, no surprise why the lore was “”predicted”” for halo
Weird coincidence as I was going through my head 30 minutes ago as to how Jesus, through the Gospel of John, partially inspired the creation of the Master Chief as his full name of John 117 is a reference to a Bible verse in John talking about how Jesus is the only way to Heaven. This alone helps to explain why we are fighting Prophets and the Flood as it is literally the Pharisees and false prophets as aliens and the Flood is essentially Hell and the Devil with each combat form being a representation of a soul lost to sin walking around in agony and suffering while controlled by a puppet master. Heck, it even made me realize that the mission Cortana from Halo 3 is more religious then it seems as it is not Chief saving Cortana in a knight in shinning armor saving a princess from a dragon moment, no it is Jesus saving a sinner from the debts of Hell moment, especially when you take in what Cortana says when Chief save her which sounds more like a sinner thinking she is too far gone. And, the fact that Chief destroys High charity can be seen as similar to Jesus destroying Hell as the only way after death as we Christians are told that after Jesus died, he went to Hell for 2 days and in there, saved every soul deemed worthy of salvation and the inheritance of Heaven and in essence destroyed or damaged Hell in a way similar to that of destroying reactors in the mission Cortana. I hope I am making the comparison clear because it is hard to put into words for this sometimes.
Was looking for a comment like yours, Ive been a Christian and Halo fan most of my life, loved the religious themes in the original trilogy. your realization of the Cortana mission is spot on, the Gravemind whispering things to Chief always reminds me of how Satan whispered lies to Adam and Eve.
@@Getmerked65 Thanks, and not just Adam and Eve, but Jesus as well with the temptations of Christ, especially when you realize that there are only three missions the Grave Mind speaks to you in Floodgate, Cortana, Halo. It is literally like Satan's three attempts to corrupt Jesus with turning rocks into bread, jumping off a building to tempt fate, and submitting to the Evil one for power, and like Christ, Chief refused these temptations and destroyed the Flood.
Yeah we have. The Y glyphs are a red herring to get you to research all the literature that inspired the game. They are Y shaped because theyre only there to make you ask "Why" and then start reading things. Thats the answer. Marty confirmed this in the comments of a Rocket Sloth video. There is no other meaning behind them. Marty just wanted to make us smarter by giving us homework (and it worked)
Why? Read Dantes Inferno, read T.S. Eliots The Hollow Men, do the glyphs make any more sense? No, but now youre cultured and you know things. Thats "Why" 😉 get it?
Don’t know if it’s true, but someone claiming to be a lore writer working in connection with Bungie said the referenced Bible verse for chief’s designation is not John 1:17. The full title of the last book of the Bible is actually The Revelation of John, and the verse this writer referenced was 1:17. Bungie didn’t like the implication, supposedly, but didn’t change it.

Bro fuck me Halo is fucking cool.
love the editing and as always, great vid!
We got biblically accurate halo lore before GTA 6 💀💀💀
Mostly. But the feeling you have when a minor, little tiny details that you imagined years ago as part of your very own story, ended up being true, well that's certainly something :P
Makes me think that I probably owe apologies to one of those writers from the forum, whose story's main character was a sangheili with a bionic left arm and with which I often argued about how it would be frown upon by the species xD
Master Chief is Jesus? No, he’s a Demon. Didn’t you know?
Funnily enough, the pharisees once accused Jesus of doing his miracles through the power of a demon
@@proper7439 no! Jesus is a prophet of Allah but not as prominent as Muhammad.
@@jakespacepiratee3740 what year it is? Yes bro, yes
@@proper7439 Then one possessed with a demon was brought to Him, blind and mute, and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw. 23 All the people were amazed and said, “Is He not the Son of David?”
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This Man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.”
25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.
And then he will plunder his house.
30 “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
Heard the Master Chief is Jesus theory from Treecicle years back.
Hiddenxperia went from scraping the bottom of the barrel to cracking said bottom, and he's since been underground every since.
Also i wished i played marathon back, it sounds like a great series 😊
I mean you still can, they are free. First game recently got a Steam release too and Marathon 2 and Infinity will be following soon.
Im hype for the possibility of the Marathon series being remade and brought to current gen
6:17 Where are you getting that 'anything on a halo ring is immune to its effects'? I don't think that's accurate. Per halopedia:
"While organisms aboard the twelve older rings were safe from the Halo effect itself due to its directional nature, any sentient being would still experience an uncomfortable sensation in the vicinity of the pulse.[105] .. .[11] Any living creature on the newer seven rings, however, would be killed and need to be reintroduced following the firing of the array."
HiddenXperia is showing rampancy
From what I have heard from others, halo has multiple references to the Bible. The story is loosely related to the storyline of the Bible, The Creation, the Fall, Redemption, and Restoration.
"trust your insticts, they will never lie to you. Trust in the force, always my son."
This is epic! I love this interpretation!! You made my day.
Howard may have gotten the idea of the Halos being portal devices wrong, but they certainly got close in one weird way: notice in the text of their post, they say...
"I think one of the names of the nearby planets to the halo is actually the word gateway in a foreign tounge- but I don't remember for sure."
The gas giant that Alpha Halo orbits is, in fact..."Threshold".
"Halo is a Gateway"
Simply put: No. Definately not. And i think they never were intended to be Gateways, because Bungie back then probably knew about the Franchise "Stargate" and that they'll probably get sued because of copyright BS.
To explain for those who have no idea what the Stargate franchise is about (i mean, despite looking at the name of that franchise, which is kinda self explanatory):
You basically have hidden portals (ring shaped), that are scattered across the universe and beyond and these portals are all connected in some sort of Gateway network and Stargate's version of the Forerunners are the ones who built these portals.
Didn't Halo Follower make a video about this idea years ago?
Makes me appreciate MC even more
Love the video Experia, this would probably explain why i love halo so much seeing its connection with biblical texts, now i need you to read the bible with halo music over it
To the point of the Master Chief being a Christ-like or Messianic figure: it could also be interpreted that Christ Himself was a vessel for God's will, a Being beyond mortal comprehension, but His human Manifestation (Christ) is bound by the rules of the world he exists in (He needs food/water, can be injured, can die etc.).
Plus the whole respawn mechanic in the game and Christ's resurrection could also be a cheeky association there too ;)
just found my new favorite youtube thumbnail
We need a"what if" where Chief and Arbiter stay in the control room and get teleported off ring. It's crazy to think how drastic the changes would be
“At least Howard’s house is still standing” is that- is that a challenge?
'Halo is a massive space portal': The Expanse theme intensifies...
To be fair, “…and the horse you rode in on” is a play on the old saying “F*** you and the horse you rode in on.”
I forgot all about the "is the master chief who we really think he is" meme until now LMAOOO
My hopes are going strong.
Can't forget the songs Behold a Pale Horse as well!
R.I.P what if series
The image at 12:13... pause.
Also, the word W'rkncacnter lives rent-free in my mind.
Its literally the oldest stories told over and over just in different eras different names, characters, the heros journey .
Nothing new under the sun
I mean... Marathon, bungie's trilogy before Halo, did all that! A nameless hero, one who beat back countless impossible odds, reincarnated thousands of times as famous rage filled warriors of old, and in the future.
Did he predict the infamous Moa Burger?
No but I predicted Yap Yap the Destroyer aka the personification of the Apocalypse in the halo universe
First your on the library with the jumperscape crew and now a video hiddenxperia overload
In another timeline, Microsoft owns both Marathon and Halo. We just happen to be in the ONE TIMELINE where that isn't the case. Smh.
MS problem was they were only interested in Halo. Bungie wanted to work on multiple IPs, not just Halo.
@@EatThePath-7 Not wrong, but there was a bit of an underlying hint in my comment about that. Should've expanded a bit more in it, tbh. Thanks, btw. 👍
Ngl you should do the lore behind the ever(up to this point) infinite armor piece
@Skajun0 We really do need someone.
Xperia is on his madness arc
Please make more weird as fuck halo shit like this. We need it to survive this content drought
We still haven’t solved the ODST glyphs yet, so the journey is not complete
You need to do another video like this for halo 2.
And the horse you rode in on is a reference to "F you and the horse you rode in on."
This term has been around since at least the 1950s.
Now that Doom is officially part of the Microsoft gang. This can potentially come up again lore wise🤔
Bungie probs saw this dudes theory and went “good enough!”
Great content as always 🙌
I remember hearing about that "Jesus" theory before. crazy times
Master Chief is God, understood.
How does this only have 3000 likes HOW DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 3000 LIKES
