I'm not going to offer up praise for doing something the correct way. I never liked the looks of the Macan and now they restyle if nicely, but it's an EV and I'm not a fan of EVs.
The price is brutal for a Macan. A 4, the base trim, is going to cost as much as a current GTS (previously the Turbo.) Turbo is pushing $115k when even moderately optioned, $120k well optioned. You can buy a sub 10k mile Taycan Turbo S for those prices right now.
Even worse than that, it's probably going to depreciate heavily, like the Taycan. It'll be worth a fraction of its original price in 3-4 years. Meanwhile, the GTS Macans (at least in Europe) don't go for less than 50% of what they cost after five years, regardless of mileage.
Anyone else come straigh to Autogefühl when they got the Porsche notification? Just me 😅 Great reveal Thomas. Not a fan of SUV's but trust Porsche to make one that looks great :)
Porsche is the only one that is listening to its customers in terms of interior! Very good quality with fine materials and great usability(the climate control)

I have to congratulate Porsche because this new Macan is both the first EV and SUV/Crossovet type vehicle that i can say i genuinely like and would absolutely purchase. I’m really liking both interior and exterior styling and think both are an improvement on the petrol Macan. And i love that colour on the Macan4! Thank you for another great review Thomas
Like the dashboard display. No tacky tablet display to be seen. The main console behind the steering wheel is a prime example of beautiful styling and design.

Damn, that is far nicer than I thought it would be. Plus, nice work talking about the towing. No one ever talks about the towing capacity of the Cayenne(7000) and it is one of its best features. Just under 4000 for this is incredible. Not sure I know another crossover that can do that. Porsche might steal the show with this.
Not at the prices they want for it. They've misjudged their market and these will depreciate fast. People don't want EVs, well most don't. Too expensive, constant worry of running our of juice and if you damage one, insurance companies write them off. More work needed before EVs are truly viable.
Towing with an EV? For a very short distance, like driving your horse around ok, but long distance just forget about it. Huge impact on a range that is already poor, extreme difficulty to park your car with the cargo for recharge, even strickly impossible without going through the burden to disconnect your cargo and park it further in a huge majority of charging stations.
If they are going to make the Macan all electric the cost needs to come down. We can’t keep having such huge price differences between petrol and electric. Another great review. It looks like you beat all your rivals again!
Its beautiful Porsche did a great job also I can't believe im saying this but this might be the first time I prefer the design of the electric variant to that of the gas/petrol version

First the dumb hostess they hired falsely translated the German word for charging ("Laden") falsely as "loading" and called the charging speed a "loading capacity of 270 kilowatts". And later in the preproduced (!) video they claimed the car has a battery capacity of "100kW PER HOUR" !!!!

I love the design! Super clean, super classy. 1 badge with normal proportions, discrete lettering for the model, no nonsense, no gimmicks, no fakery. As opposed to million Mercedes stars and million M badges on everything.

I hope they will do a proper electric 911 some day. I still think Turbo naming is not appropriate for EV. The marketing team should come up with something more electricity inspired naming.
@@aderbalnunesm Hm, since you mentioned it ... Few decades ago I had an old PC with 486 processor. There was a turbo button alongside power and reset buttons. When activated, CPU speed went from 40 to 80 MHz. That was proper old school CPU throttling. I guess Porsche's marketing department is at my age, haha.
Well what do you know, the seats fold completely flat. No roof rails, but its reassuring to learn it does have a tow package and comes with the option for a sunroof that actually opens. However, the delete of the rear wiper seems like a clear oversight, especially in regions where it rains or snows heavily. Rea seat are pretty tight.
Tbf all the ICE models have turbos anyway so it's been a redundant term for a long time. Just become synonymous with their top performance variants and they won't want to confuse customers who are used to the spec designations
Ive read many negative comments about the new meccan, but for me personally its the first time ive been interested in it even as a big fan of og porsche like the 930. Its also probably the only EV crossover/SUV i would seriously consider(if i had the money lol)

Finally a strong EV from Germany. Took them a few attempts. Price is high, but that’s not surprising for a Porsche. The Platform is really promising. Let’s hope delivery times won’t be 18 months again.
Finally a strong EV from Germany? Have you never driven a Taycan, aka the best EV on the planet? It may not be the most practical, but it's by far the best looking, best feeling, best driving EV and it isn't even remotely close. It also has some of the best range (I know, people that only look at EPA and don't look at real world tests won't believe me.)

I agree with you that the looks and driving feel are great, for me the car is let down by: - the over-reliance on touchscreen controls, especially for HVAC - laggy PCM and software integration compared to Cayenne, 911, Macan. even after 2 major software updates - poor range and range anxiety. I typically got 200 miles off the 93kwh battery. You need to drive without any enthusiasm at all to achieve more than that.
@@TedTed-xh1ys Yes, in fact I got to drive it right after launch and was blown away. Great car and way ahead of its time. I was mostly comparing to recent launches from Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi... Just felt like the models were often good, but lacked features that made them stand out. The new Macan is the first German release in a while that feels like a significant step forward (rather than a Model 3/Y copycat).
@@GoO0f I agree with your inputs, and the Taycan is still far better than the competitors. it is still evident that the Taycan is a first-gen product, and Porsche has changed their approach for the electronics integration for subsequent Hybrid/EV. You can see here that the Macan has physical controls for HVAC and the updated PCM which responds more quickly, and I would expect the next Taycan refresh to adopt these changes as well.
Was hoping the longer wheelbase translates to more rear seat legroom. It seems to add a tiny bit but not as much as hoped. The light wood accents look amazing. Porsche tends to be conservative with 0-60 numbers. Would like to see what real world is.
I really like the new Macan. I prefer the shorter overhangs and frameless windows. The backend is nice but a little nondescript. In my country the new base Macan is a lot cheaper than the petrol base version, because of the way the vehicle tax works, which is linked to carbon dioxide emissions.
Porsche is one of the few legacy automakers that is actually producing great EVs. I don't even like crossover SUVs but this car is amazing. If only it had one-pedal driving.
So glad I ordered and received my 2024 Macan GTS when I did. Sounds like its all EV pretty soon. I'll keep enjoying the great pdk shifts and exhaust crackles and pops every drive. EV vehicles just don;t have the soul I'm looking for. Another great video production for sure - keep up the great work. Danke

Strange comment in my opinion. Remember those around you who do not appreciate the unnecessary crackles and pops to which you seem to enjoy. The time when all ICE vehicles can be scrapped cannot come fast enough for me. I have an EV and it's an absolute hoot to drive.

Great review of an impressive car....and full marks for not editing out the 'colour' moment..!! 🤣...personally most of the car adds up for me except the lack of a rear wiper....really wish Porche hadn't made that decision. If I place an order I'll hopefully be able to go after market for one of those. **Edit**....Just been on the UK configuration web page..a rear wiper is an option ...I can sleep easy tonight !!...😅😂
I don't miss the rear wiper at all on my EV6, all of the road grime and dust stays below the lip spoiler, and the window defroster is effective at evaporating any standing water droplets from rain. The Rear lip seems less aggressive and more rounded on the Macan, so it may not be as effective. Would be interested to see the charging curve and how long it can sustain 270kW DCFC.

Maybe it's just me but it just sounds funny when you use the word Turbo on an EV car. Still, this is the best looking EV SUV by far. Great job Porsche! You are one of the few car companies that still keep a proper car design.
I typically do not care for SUVs, but I hate to say that I am liking this one. It is nice to see that they learned somethings from the Taycan and made improvements. Super gemacht!
Beautiful vehicle!! I love it. It's nice to see a luxury EV outside of TESLA. If I was fortunate enough to get an EV, I'd buy this. Seeing Tesla's on the road is like seeing a testicular wart with wheels.
Having sat in it a few times. I must say im a bit dissapointed by the backseat legspace. Im 1.82 and if i sit behind myself, i can only just squeeze in and have to angle my knees because the front seat has this weird bulb in the middle.
3:30 " Most of the length goes into the longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs. " I don't know, the car grew by 8.7 cm and the wheelbase by 8.6 cm. How can that change anything about the overhangs, if the car grew exactly by the length of the wheelbase ? In that case the car should be shorter than the growth of the wheelbase. Anyway, beautiful car in my opinion, very clean and slick.
I just hope they won't scrap the Taycan Sport/Cross Tourismo now that they have an EV SUV, much like they did with the Panamera. I for one don't think everything has to be an SUV.

I was half keen on it, but yeah the price is getting crazy. Start optioning a little and yeah, it gets ridiculous.
It is waaaaay more expensive than what I was expecting. Now imagine with the Uber pricy Porsche options.

I think the price is inline with the competitors
a 400hp Porsche with a 95kWh battery and actual fast charging starting at €84K isn't really "insane" tbh

I love the design! Super clean, super classy. 1 badge with normal proportions, discrete lettering for the model, no nonsense, no gimmicks, no fakery. As opposed to million Mercedes stars and million M badges on everything.

I hope they will do a proper electric 911 some day. I still think Turbo naming is not appropriate for EV. The marketing team should come up with something more electricity inspired naming.
Why not use the name turbo? I have a fan that has "turbo" written on it.
@@aderbalnunesm Hm, since you mentioned it ... Few decades ago I had an old PC with 486 processor. There was a turbo button alongside power and reset buttons. When activated, CPU speed went from 40 to 80 MHz. That was proper old school CPU throttling. I guess Porsche's marketing department is at my age, haha.

Well what do you know, the seats fold completely flat. No roof rails, but its reassuring to learn it does have a tow package and comes with the option for a sunroof that actually opens. However, the delete of the rear wiper seems like a clear oversight, especially in regions where it rains or snows heavily. Rea seat are pretty tight.
Why Turbo designation on an electric model? Makes no sense to me. Excellent presentation as always.
Tbf all the ICE models have turbos anyway so it's been a redundant term for a long time.
Just become synonymous with their top performance variants and they won't want to confuse customers who are used to the spec designations
Ive read many negative comments about the new meccan, but for me personally its the first time ive been interested in it even as a big fan of og porsche like the 930. Its also probably the only EV crossover/SUV i would seriously consider(if i had the money lol)

Finally a strong EV from Germany. Took them a few attempts. Price is high, but that’s not surprising for a Porsche. The Platform is really promising. Let’s hope delivery times won’t be 18 months again.
Finally a strong EV from Germany? Have you never driven a Taycan, aka the best EV on the planet? It may not be the most practical, but it's by far the best looking, best feeling, best driving EV and it isn't even remotely close. It also has some of the best range (I know, people that only look at EPA and don't look at real world tests won't believe me.)
@@TedTed-xh1ysDo you own a Taycan? I sold my Taycan. I agree with you that the looks and driving feel are great, for me the car is let down by:
- the over-reliance on touchscreen controls, especially for HVAC
- laggy PCM and software integration compared to Cayenne, 911, Macan. even after 2 major software updates
- poor range and range anxiety. I typically got 200 miles off the 93kwh battery. You need to drive without any enthusiasm at all to achieve more than that.
@@TedTed-xh1ys Yes, in fact I got to drive it right after launch and was blown away. Great car and way ahead of its time. I was mostly comparing to recent launches from Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi... Just felt like the models were often good, but lacked features that made them stand out. The new Macan is the first German release in a while that feels like a significant step forward (rather than a Model 3/Y copycat).
@@GoO0f I agree with your inputs, and the Taycan is still far better than the competitors. it is still evident that the Taycan is a first-gen product, and Porsche has changed their approach for the electronics integration for subsequent Hybrid/EV. You can see here that the Macan has physical controls for HVAC and the updated PCM which responds more quickly, and I would expect the next Taycan refresh to adopt these changes as well.
Was hoping the longer wheelbase translates to more rear seat legroom. It seems to add a tiny bit but not as much as hoped. The light wood accents look amazing. Porsche tends to be conservative with 0-60 numbers. Would like to see what real world is.

I really like the new Macan. I prefer the shorter overhangs and frameless windows. The backend is nice but a little nondescript. In my country the new base Macan is a lot cheaper than the petrol base version, because of the way the vehicle tax works, which is linked to carbon dioxide emissions.

Porsche is one of the few legacy automakers that is actually producing great EVs. I don't even like crossover SUVs but this car is amazing. If only it had one-pedal driving.

So glad I ordered and received my 2024 Macan GTS when I did. Sounds like its all EV pretty soon. I'll keep enjoying the great pdk shifts and exhaust crackles and pops every drive. Strange comment in my opinion. Remember those around you who do not appreciate the unnecessary crackles and pops to which you seem to enjoy. The time when all ICE vehicles can be scrapped cannot come fast enough for me. I have an EV and it's an absolute hoot to drive.

Great review of an impressive car....and full marks for not editing out the 'colour' moment..!! 🤣...personally most of the car adds up for me except the lack of a rear wiper....really wish Porche hadn't made that decision. If I place an order I'll hopefully be able to go after market for one of those. **Edit**....Just been on the UK configuration web page..a rear wiper is an option ...I can sleep easy tonight !!...😅😂

I don't miss the rear wiper at all on my EV6, all of the road grime and dust stays below the lip spoiler, and the window defroster is effective at evaporating any standing water droplets from rain. The Rear lip seems less aggressive and more rounded on the Macan, so it may not be as effective. Would be interested to see the charging curve and how long it can sustain 270kW DCFC.

Shorter overhangs look better because they give the impression the car is smaller and more agile.
Beautiful vehicle!! I love it. It's nice to see a luxury EV outside of TESLA. If I was fortunate enough to get an EV, I'd buy this. Seeing Tesla's on the road is like seeing a testicular wart with wheels.

Having sat in it a few times. I must say im a bit dissapointed by the backseat legspace. Im 1.82 and if i sit behind myself, i can only just squeeze in and have to angle my knees because the front seat has this weird bulb in the middle.

I don't know, the car grew by 8.7 cm and the wheelbase by 8.6 cm.
How can that change anything about the overhangs, if the car grew exactly by the length of the wheelbase ?
In that case the car should be shorter than the growth of the wheelbase.

I just hope they won't scrap the Taycan Sport/Cross Tourismo now that they have an EV SUV, much like they did with the Panamera. I for one don't think everything has to be an SUV.
