I’m a long term Porsche owner and have had Macans and cayennes. If they are so confident of the pricing for the car let them guarantee the forward pricing at a fair level and extend the warranty to 5 years.
Maybe residual value at the end of a 2 or 3 year lease, but I can’t see any EVs having good resale value after 5-6 years of battery degradation. Particularly if the first owner was regularly charging over 80%, depleting below 10%, and/or doing a lot of fast charging.
@@hardykornfeld1733You people are so ignorant. Can you let us know the average battery degradation of 5-6 year old EV? Hint: it’s around 5% and then slows down from there. The added benefit being that in an ICE car, as the engine degrades, the car’s ability to produce power decreases, which is not the case with EVs.
Since cars are a liability, not an asset, why pay such a premium for an EV? You can get a decent electric SUV for less than half the price of the Macan. Save your money for a 911.
I have a 2022 Macan S, wifes car, and it is such a machine. I love the sound of the car when I start it and it handles so amazingly. The extra weight and cost would be a huge show stopper for me in the EV version. I prefer a more nimble and lighter car. My car is an F150 and it makes more sense to get a Lighting then to get a Macan EV. In the future my truck will be electric if the cost comparison comes down and we will always keep a 6 cylinder Porsche, it's the best engine ever made.
I think I'll wait for the Zeekr 7X. better performance and interior at half the price. It won't be any good for track days but perfect for a drive up to some wineries
This is a surprisingly disappointing review from Chasing Cars. Very little information about the ride comfort or NVH. Very little information about safety and assist systems. Incorrect info on how to open the boot when there’s a rear wiper. Incorrect info regarding regenerative braking, suggesting range could be improved with one pedal driving in the city? If you use the brakes, it’s literally doing the same thing. There’s also a toggle in the infotainment to turn it on (still not one pedal driving but more than when it’s off). Wrong information about range, suggesting 19-23kw/100km means it gets close to its over 600km quoted range. With a 95kwh battery, that’s a range between 400 and 500km - over 100kn discrepancy is surely noteworthy? It just seems like very little research was done, so this was unhelpful to a potential buyer.
I feel this channel is quite “woke” (pushing EVs with some bias) and it felt like an advertorial for the EV Porsche. I’m not buying another Porsche if my options are only EV. I think the last ICE GTS is a much better option.
Couldn’t agree more. Noticeable step down in the quality for reviews with the departure of Tom. Looks like the channel has pivoted towards becoming yet another advertising platform. Sure the huge increase in price was mentioned, but surely an industry expert should have spent more time on the global drop off in EV uptake and the massive depreciation issue. This car, like so many EVs, makes no sense at all. A performance hybrid was the obvious next step for Porsche. It’s not as though they lack the technology.
I have recently taken delivery of a Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo Plug-in e-Hybrid in Australia - 4.,000 klms across southern Australia in the 4 weeks I have owned it - a fantastic package and a Driver’s delight! And, NO Range anxiety :)😅
I think it’s a very exciting time for the industry. No doubt electrification is expensive, both for high-end cars good quality infrastructure in the home. They’ll always be those resistant to change for various reasons, but I can’t wait.
Great review and will appeal to a select group due to its price. Depreciation will be an issue for those who churn through cars quickly and the warranty needs to be revised to at least 5 years. Regeneration, appearance is personal taste and some fiddly controls are disappointing. EV’s are not for everyone but work well for others as I’ve now met numerous owners who own an EV, charge them at home, generally used around town or for day trips and intend keeping the same car for 10 years or more as they’ve trouble free. As consumers we’re very lucky to have these options.
Reasonable review but no mention at all about projected depreciation. The Taycan is also a reasonable car but the depreciation is an absolute killer and the Macan is now 30k more. Not for me.
$40k over priced. I have owned 3 911s over the years but you would have to be a fool to think that this car is worth the massive30%+price hike over theICE model.
EVs are the way forward. Many who slate them haven't driven one, owned one or are just following the online scare mongering. Or still drive an HSV of some desription.
Gamble? It has nothing to do with gamble. Europian car makers are subject to fleet-wide average carbon emission limits. Porsche must produce EVs to offset the emissions from their flagship 911s and Cayenne. Nobody gives a sh!t to these ugly EVs, you buy an EV Macan, you are essentially buying carbon credits for rich people who wants to buy a real car which is 911.
Are you suggesting that having the air conditioning controls separate - via 'buttons' - is messier than trying to control via the PCM / tactile screen while driving?
Great vid but have to respectfully disagree with this review. I own the T and test drove the Macan 4 and was surprisigly let down. It felt sluggish and heavy. Yes the EV boost is great but thats the same with every EV. It just was not as nimble as other Porsches which are cheaper as well. I do think the prices will tank on this similar to the Taycan but im no car expert 🙂
I thought I heard that Porsche have given up on EV's and that they intend to put ICE and ICE hybrid units into this and ICE into the Taycan, as Porsche is losing too much money on every unit sold, despite already indecent price. What an admission of failure. Porsche now join the real world of massive depreciation and brand demise.
VW Group is paying a heavy price for going all out on EV. Already closed a couple of factories and laid off thousands of people. I was looking to switch from a Q7 to a Macan but now that’s its only EV. Definitely not considering, I love my ICE cars
I like this new Macan EV way more. I drove an ice latest model Macan and my new Macan 4 looks like 10 years ahead, outside and inside. Of course it is a personal judgement
just a gut feel but this wont work long term. The Macan is the best seller for a reason, taking away the feels and sounds is 90% of why us ppl buy these cars.
Good to see Porsche helping to remove from the planet more polluting vehicles by not offering this in fossil fuel version anymore similar to Renault with the Megane and possibly more as time goes on. If you did a 5yr TCO between this and the ICE version rather than just sticker price never mind of course the costs to human/planet health with the fossil version.
It not only looks terrible. It comes to market as EV depreciation, including Porsche, has become a huge issue across the industry. Seems like a remarkable mistake to move your best selling car across to a technology that has yet to prove its economic viability. Have owned a Porsche for years and am not interested at all in a Porsche EV. Mate just took a bath on a 3 year old Taycan
@@fatdoi003 I have two friends who have owned Taycans. One used the car for regional trips and found the charging process frustrating. The other friend just drives around the city and charges it once a week in his garage. He loves it but is also in the position to not be concerned about depreciation. While you rarely see a Taycan parked in the street, you do see many Macans without a garage. Wonder how many people really want to deal with the inconvenience due to a lack of infrastructure?
