    For story 6, the friend sabotaging his event is absolutely a thing. I've had friends and family do the same thing and it's all about attention seeking. Could even be upset/jealous that her friend's relationship is going well and she got cheated on. Misery like company.

    • @ArcTracertruepath
      @ArcTracertruepath Рік тому +19

      Definitely jealousy. this friend so a relationship that was going well and didn't like it. People like that friend have the center of attention mindset which becomes even worse when their life isn't going well while everyone else is. They will sabotage as much as they can so everyone can be miserable.

      100% planned for sabotaging. My best friends sister ALWAYS has something come up when she is either getting attention(getting her Masters and PhD) or needing to see the doctor about some tests(the sister took some pills to kill herself and needed to be rushed to the hospital just before they were to leave to go get the tests done).

      Given the history hinted at in the story I think the commentator has got the wrong end of the stick. She didn't attempt that day to sabotage OP's defence, it's yet another crap test of fiancee and her friendship. She was doing it to see if fiancee would come to her even on a special day like her future husband's PhD defence.

    Story #6 made my blood BOIL. OP’s fiancé friend definitely wanted to sabotage the defense. I get that Trauma is processed over time, but with no new triggers it makes no sense to try to commit suicide a week after. I’m not saying that she faked it, but I am saying it is a little suspicious.

    • @karvoskiromanov
      @karvoskiromanov Рік тому +6

      OP's fiancé also stated that her friend has a history of selfish behavior along these lines. Maybe not in this extreme per say but, it was bad enough that there's obviously some bad blood history of it

    • @dark0blade
      @dark0blade Рік тому

      id like to say that yes in fact that friend could indeed only after a week decide on ending it, however its because of her selfish nature she would do it the day before his phd, not because she scheduled it but its because she knew her friend wouldnt be there for her that day, that is quite the emotional trigger for some one that thaught that her friend would always be there for her, while the fiancee didnt betray her friend by not being available that day, but in her selfish mind thats exactly what it meant, so she might have figured she didnt want to live anymore where anyone can just leave her all of a sudden, but again this is her selfish mindset that caused this, not her trauma of her boyfriend cheating on her....so is the fiancee's friend doing it on purpose? yes, yes she is, is it to spite fiancee's boyfriend? no its not, its to keep said fiancee with her rather then not be available that particular day....

    Story #6: Never underestimate how crazy people can be. If you suspect for a while, and know for a week your bf is cheating, it's a bit odd that you would try to kill yourself at that point without a specific new trigger. Combined with specifically asking the fiancee to visit all day and the fiancee thinking it is not a coincidence. I would wonder how serious the attempt was or it was a way to demand attention. And I'd also not be surprised if it wasn't so much an attempt to sabotage OP defending his PHD but more of an attempt to sabotage the relationship.

    • @hyperfox0934
      @hyperfox0934 Рік тому

      Sort of agree, but as always I'd like to remind people that we have next to no information about this person to make 100% certain decisions. Even if this behavior is deliberate, there's multiple potential causes, and keep in mind there's different levels of deliberatness. Try not to dehumanize her too much; yes, I think one way or another the OP and his fiancee desperately need to start distancing themselves from this person because they will very likely get hurt, but that doesn't dismiss the fact that the friend is still a person, and while yes, there's only about a 35-55% chance this is is all a coincidence and it's a clean case where she's just plain suffering over the boyfriend and didn't realize the damage she was doing, there's only like a 2% she's not suffering greatly and this isn't a direct result of some sort of intense ass mental illness. You can recognize someone as dangerous and harmful while also recognizing they are because they need help and aren't getting it.
      (...And just in case someone gets the wrong idea: please try not to give them help yourself! They are _genuinely_ dangerous in many ways, so please leave it to the professionals for both your sake and theirs. If you need to hurt a person like this to get them off you- and you do- do it. Period. It sucks, but it's also nessasary.)

    first story - I was on vacation for two weeks when the office manager hired a guy to help with production in the back of our business. We were a printing company and had a couple of presses, binding equipment, cutters and other stuff needed to print.
    This guy immediately started acting like he was the boss, telling staff how to do things (most of which was against our policies), passing off his work to others, and trying to get one of designers to go out with him.
    I finally got back from vacation and was in my backroom overalls and ragged shirt because I knew we had a MASSIVE print project that needed boxed and delivered thar morning. On this project, we only allowed 12 boxes per pallet due to the weight. New guy laughs at this and start stacking the boxes so there were 36 boxes on the first pallet. I walked up to him and nicely told him that it was only 12 boxes per pallet. He said "that's stupid! we can fit more on here. I know what I'm doing" I said again it's only 12 because of the weight of the boxes. if you overload it can become a hazard and hurt someone. He dropped a box, walked up to me and literally grabbed me by the shirt and said "I know what the F----- I'm doing. Are you going to shut up or do I have to teach you a lesson." He then let me go, pushing me. I just said, let's go talk to the office manager. He laughed and said "that B-----! She won't do anything." But he followed me to the office managers office.
    As I walked in, the office manager smiled and said "hi MR OWNER! I didn't know you were back in town." I turned and looked at the guy. He smirked and said "yeah right, you're not the owner." I asked the office manager to pull up our website and show him the company profile page. There I am Owner/Opertor. I then looked at him and said "you have 30 seconds to get off MY property before I call the police and have you arrested for assualt. there are cameras all over this place and I know it got some good pictures of you." He did tell me to F off before leaving.

      True. the issue is the suicide call. there is no length an attention seeker will go to be the center of attention. first it is one-uping everyones achievements and trauma, then when that doesnt work it is self harm claims, then actual self harm, then false suicide attempts, then actual suicide attempts. and you can't not ignore a suicide attempt

      Yeah something bad happened to make her not go...she had a whole day, multiple hours to send 1 text to him and explain or say anything at all and didn't. Even WITHOUT the event he had taking place, would you ignore your significant other for a whole day? Literally not thinking about him even once?

    A game you aren't paid to play in is not a reason to skirt your responsibility. The story about the guy getting his doctorate, yeah the friend scheduled it to see if she is more important than the fiancee, as someone who attempted suicide a few times due at the time to an undiagnosed mental health condition, you don't wait days to attempt suicide, unless you are dead set to take over an important event where everyone will be at. Even then, you just want the attention. Kick her out of the wedding and set limits, the fiancee needs to make the OP her priority. This friend just wants attention, and doesn't want to kill herself. The fiancee needs to tell her friend to get help, and if she doesn't then the fiancee needs to cut her out of her life. A lesson I learned with a mom who was an RN, a dad who was a firefighter, plus my life guard, and combat medic training, you do everthing in your power to save a life, but you can't save eveyone. The hardest part is knowing when you have to stop, and accept the outcome.

    Also I do remember one time now that he mentioned it, that happened at one of my birthday parties when I think I might have been in third grade. My parents invited the entire class and everyone said yes they would go All the parents and whatnot. They didn't even have to bring a present. I had a 33 people not a single one of them showed up after RSVPing. This was 32 years ago, and even though I do forget it sometimes, certain things can make that come rushing right back. And no I'm not super upset or distraught about it but it really does sucks still

    Well the rude customer in line thing never happened to me personally. But back in 2004 when I worked at a restaurant in Oklahoma City known as Whataburger we would always have a very rude customers show up on the overnight shift because we were the only restaurant open INSIDE and drive-thru within the range of FIVE bars at closing time. Can you imagine what hell that is to have dozens if not well over a hundred drunk people show up within an hour? And half of them went to the drive-thru!

    I used to work at WM and resigned for everyone's safety, (due to low vision). One day, long after I resigned, I was sitting on a bench INSIDE the store, (cane out and everything), a customer saw me, I guess thinking I was the greeter, showed me his receipt. I went along with it, scanned his receipt , scanned the items in his car, gave him back his receipt, and said "Looks good.". Was I the jerk?

    I used to work at Walmart, one of the main things I truly hated about that job was having 24 managers with several of them working all on the same shift. I unloaded trucks and did all the stock in the back putting them up on the bins and the high shelves for extra inventory. I always thought it was pretty fucked up that a FRONT END SHIFT MANAGER could go back to the store stockroom and order us around. They would tell us we need to rearrange things the way they wanted them, often not proper procedure and dangerous, and if we didn't do it we could actually get written up.
    My wife also used to work at 1:00 and this was after I had gotten let go for what they called Gross Insubordination(one of these higher up managers ordered me to go and pick up roadkill out of the parking lot with MY BARE HANDS and I told them no, so yeah I would definitely call that GROSS, but yes it was technically insubordination), but my wife actually work there as well and was threatened with losing her job from two separate managers because they both gave her orders to go to do two SEPARATE THINGS at the EXACT SAME TIME in two DIFFERENT PARTS of the store.
    Fortunately at around that time, one of my cousins was actually a higher up manager at the store she worked at, so he had her back. The two managers didn't get in trouble but they got talked to

    Stoey 6 this opinion on friend is subjective. It all depends on backstory. If she has done something like this a dozen times and this is just the time it's happening to the op then that makes sense for it to be purposeful. Sadly some people do crazy stuff for attention.

Miser loves company, and why should she be the the only single one? Why should anyone else be happy? So, the hell she didn't. 2. His friends suck. OK, the one person that was sick as hell remains to be seen if he sucks, but the rest are just horrible people and should be ashamed of themselves. 3. OP's parents should be ashamed of themselves. Period. I want to say "They are failures as parents" but who knows? Maybe they had something to do with his success other then "I'm going to prove you dbags wrong."

    With that 4th story, and being a grandson of a Christian football fan, I can see where the op's boyfriend is just like "Oh my gosh. The game is starting soon, and I don't wanna miss it!" And I understand that he actually has friends going to the football game and was wanting to join them at it, maybe to save the hassle of them telling him about the whole thing. But this is his girlfriend he's neglecting. She just had surgery and she needed to stay in the hospital for a few more days before she can leave, and he just leaves her behind simply because of the football game, which completely blew my mind. The op here had every right to try and contact him and get mad at him for leaving her behind for some football game that he's not even playing in. If he had been more reasonable and had been more aware of how long she had to stay until she needed to leave, he could have booked the hotel with his girlfriend, the op, and watched the game from there, and if his friends were to have a problem with it, he could have just explained to them that he recently had to pick up his girlfriend, the op, from the hospital and was watching the game from a hotel room they booked. And that would literally be it. Even if he was anxious about the game, he can take the time to wait for the op so he can drive her out of the hospital, and even if he missed the start, he would still be able to watch it play out, and he'd have his friends to inform him of what happened. Completely insane behavior and the op can do so much better than this guy.

Something she was necessarily directly sabotaging the defense what she seems like that person who needs to be the center of attention and a selfish in that way. This is the type of person who decides to propose or announce pregnancies and such at other people's weddings and baby showers.
    Might just be worth disinviting them completely from the wedding cuz they will find a way to grandstand. This friends will type that's likely to show up in a wedding dress herself

I got luck cause I actually worked at the hospital and saw the whole thing. (and yes I did rush out and treated them till the first-responders got there.)

    The one thing that doesn’t make sense to me about the very white voice story is why he would need to use that on his child. If he has the child’s number saved in the phone the OP says he needs hearing aids to be able to hear never mentioning anything about him being blind, so unless he gets calls through a landline, but doesn’t have caller ID, there should be no excuse, especially if he has a cell phone with the OP’s number saved in his cell phone. However, it is understandable if he does not have the OP’s number saved because sometimes I forget to save numbers so I know who I’m talking to and be able to tell the difference between the scam caller and a family member or friend.
