I failed to mention that if I have a wall longer than my trim I will Abbreviate it FS and that lets me know I need a full stick and if I have to join two pieces together I always use a 22.5° angle rather than a 45, 22.5° angles go together better than two 45s, I hope this helps someone
God bless you, brother! You are an answer to prayer for saving my sanity! These angles have had me on the edge. Been sawing, praying & crying all at the same time.
Thanks! I’m a novice DIY’er and just finished my first room removing and installing new baseboards and quarter rounds. Previous owner laid his own floating floor and put in mdf paper wrapped quarter rounds that looked like crap! I absolutely hate unfinished ends which is how he did it so I learned how to put an end cap on it (I believe you call them returns). Getting ready to finish the rest of the main floor. Needed a better way to write down my measurements.
I appreciate your video. I'm a carpenter and have done a gazillion ft of finish. When I measure, mark and cut 99.9% of the time it's from left to right including my measurements on paper. With your demo my measurement would have read '' 12 3/4 O S for an outside miter and straight cut (left to right. If my linear length is 1/16 heavy or light it would read 12 3/4 + or -. Also if your outside or inside corner is obtuse or acute (greater or less than) 90' by a degree it would read 12 3/4 O+ or- then S for the right end straight cut. In conclusion I mark all my measurements on a piece of scrap luan or anything thin. I Actually have them already cut for that purpose(4x8in.) strips. Sturdy to mark on, fit perfectly in your back pocket and don't blow away at the saw. I only mark my starting location on the wall #1 but mark all my finished cut pieces. Match #1 and install left to right and your in good shape. I will point out when your making your cuts at the saw mark them in order as you cut them. When your cutting 50 pieces make sure your marking them in sequence left to right #1-ect. I measure the same for any horizontal trim. Thanks for the video again. I always learn what I can from people and give what I can. As my uncle use to tell me''If you aint workin your stealin!'' Thanks
I think UA-cam cut out some of the good stuff I must have broke some of their policy rules. Anyways I got a little confusing there in the middle and I apologize for rambling on forever I appreciate your time thank you to your audience
I always try to do returns as well. The store has never told me NOT to do it, but if they did I probably would still do it, just for the fact that I know that it looks best.
Michael Fox Yeah this video was kind of an eye-opener for me, I don’t want to slack my jobs to please anyone, and I realized I was doing that because of this video
Thanks for your video brother. It helped me a lot. I'm getting ready to lay some quarter round down at my brother's house and kinda want it perfect. I appreciate the tips; you're doing great, in subscribed to your channel. Take care
We do finish work all the time. I will measure up the whole area and then cut. We cope the inide corners and use an angle finder to get a tight fit for outside corners

I'm in AZ, because you are no longer here:( can you recommend someone here to do quarter round? My flooring company didn't do it and says they can't!

So, what did you do for the flooring "transition" along the bannister railing?
I always try to do returns as well. The store has never told me NOT to do it, but if they did I probably would still do it, just for the fact that I know that it looks best.

chris bates I use a multi tool, thank you appreciate that
JC you love to talk. You talk more than you show how to measure and cut
