A pro tip I learned years ago, if you add +0.5-+1 degree to your outside cuts and -0.5-1on inside cuts, this will allow the points to meet first and with some pressure, they'll flex into a perfectly flush fit. You will also want to calibrate your mitre saw's mitre gauge using that protractor as your reference since most saws aren't perfectly calibrated/square either. Always best to stick to one measuring tool unless you're dealing with precision instruments
Quick little pro tip for ya. I like what I see just if you are using the saw for a lot of cuts try to not flip the baseboard to the back side. Doing this can chip out the outter spot of the baseboard. Instead flip it upside down.
@@206Nish what i would do is cut a piece of wood to like 10 then put that against the fence and then put the board against that and cut it at 39 indicated. if you put the piece in the right spot on the fence you should have your angle.
Good tips. My added tip... make sure your miter saw is adjusted and working properly before you rely on the angle scale & detents, as well as cutting perfect 90 degrees horizontal & vertical when returned to its "home" position. It will and does get knocked out of position, especially portable saws.
I just shared on my fb, post too , I read about that miter protractor it’s got great reviews and high quality aluminum with engraved writings so they stay on to read. Thanks for this great detailed video on moulding
Amazing! I wish I watched your video before I struggled with molding miter cuts, got disgusted and started caulking the open seams! I’m getting this tool!
I need to install over 400 linear feet of 5½" square baseboards. Finish carpenters are quoting $70-$80 per hour to install. I've installed baseboards before but the miter cuts have always caused me trouble. Now I see why. Thanks for the video tips fo this DIYer!
I have a Hitachi C10FSHC 10" and I'm trying to miter cut 5.5" wide boards...but the boards don't fit in the upright placement (flat against the fence) that you're cutting yours. On top of that, the saw maxes out at 45 degrees when tilted. Great video, tho. I looked at many others and yours was straight to the point! Thnx!
Thanks man for making this video I just came across your page, as I'm 1st year Carpenter apprentice in high rise and its been a challenge with these miter cuts, I will look into the tools that you mentioned. Have a great one!
This is a grate product and makes your job alot easier, I truly appreciate your videos they are great and very helpful, thank you so much you are a excellent teacher.

Found this video while trying to figure out how to cut an aluminum channel for some LED strips, this is exactly the tool I need for an weird angle I have in a room!
Just a side note on cutting odd angels. Those that don't have a detent that locks it in place , like the 45 degree notch. Found out the hard way, on any settings like the 47 he's doing. Lock the handle down or the saw can move back to the detent. !
Thank you so much for the video this really helped me a lot I like the way you explain everything I never have a question after I watch one of your videos awesome work brother thanks
Aha! So that's how it works. The miter angle on that tool is used any time two pieces are joined together. I like that it's made out of aluminum rather than breakable plastic.
Would have liked you to show the whole process, as in measuring for an inside and outside edge. Do you account a bit more beyond the corner for outside edges?
I am about to do this in hallway, love how easy you make it. Gonna go buy the tool asap before project . Thank you
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Great video

That's ok with timber, MDF is a completely different story 😜

My miter only goes to 45, how am I supposed to do the cuts when the tool says 49?
