I wish she’d had better luck in the sport. She could have had multiple medals. She was so wronged by Russia after Beijing- she could have potentially made the 2012 team as well.
I was a bit disappointed with this vault final. In the 1980's and early 1990's, the Europeans showcased new talent with outrageous difficulty. Some of the vaults at this competition were commonplace in the late 1980's. I wish gymnasts still used the Europeans to showcase original, new skills.

Guilia won but why did she settle for a full twisting Yurechenko? Had she done a double, she wouldn't had to be so worried waiting for the other 6 gymnasts.
+reginarobertkrystyn The weird thing is that if you look at the scoreboard, the vault she is supposed to perform is valued at 5.8, so she must have changed her mind halfway down the runway or something. Weird.
+reginarobertkrystyn not sure of the difficulty grade for a triple twisting, although i am almost positive no woman has ever competed one. i do know that the grade of difficulty for the amanar was changed from a 16.5 in 2012 and is now only worth a 16.3. i would probably guess that a triple twisting yurchenko is worth at least a 16.8 or 17.0. i doubt we will see one soon, but i hope!
+Kirsten Neville The triple-twisting Yurchenko doesn't have a tarif yet, because it isn't part of the code of points! The increments between a 1.5 twist (5.3), a double twist (5.8) and a 2.5 twist (6.3) are all the same, so logically it should go in at a 6.8 tarif. But, y'know, it's not always logical, so I guess we'll just wait and see. Hong un Jong submitted it as a skill in 2008 but didn't actually perform it in competition, and at that time the proposed tarif was 7.2 - but that was back when the Amanar was still at 6.5, so I'd imagine it would be lower than that now. I'm sure Hong un Jong, Simone Biles and McKayla Maroney (if she ever gets back in a gym) are all capable of performing a TTY, and I wouldn't be surprised if at least one of them attempted it next year. -- just checked, the last time Hong Un Jong submitted it was at Worlds in 2014 and the proposed tarif was a 6.8, so there you are.
