- Ventilation and window screen are discussed in this video. A simple way to make window screen (a modified version from Rincon Steve) is described.
Updated 7-30-2021: the blue portable fan I bought from Amazon is no longer available. There is a similar one with longer running time you may consider:

Updated 9-28-2021: I added a moonroof window screen as a ventilation option:

I love this guy. His personality is so pleasant and the info he shares with us is so practical. 👍🏾 I could watch him all day.
Once again, I have to thank you for sharing your methods. I love the screen you made, and making a small version so it isn't as obvious is a great idea as well. I really appreciate your kindness in sharing your methods. You have given me so very much inspiration
You are so welcome!
Thank you. Very good and simple instructions. I like what you've done!
Glad you like them!
Mr. Shen Ye, you once again made us happy with your brilliant talents. We love the smaller, invisible screen and will start that project very soon. We look forward to each new video and thank you very, very much for each one of them.
Thank you so much 😀
@@ShenYe01 May I ask if it is ok to drive with the narrow screen installed? Thank you so much.
@@Richard-ej4zi The metal gutter guard is strong enough. It should be fine with the narrow one. Just make sure the tapes are firmly stick to the gutter guard and each other. Use double sided tape will improve adhesion.
@@ShenYe01 Thank you so much for your prompt response. May I ask one more question? What is the width of the nylon strap? I am going to do it soon. Thanks again.
@@Richard-ej4zi You are very welcome! I'm glad to be able to help. The width of the nylon strap is 1". It will improve the strength of the edges while still flexible.
Once again, thank you for sharing your experience and ideas with us in such a helpful way.
Wow, great job on the window screens!!! I am going to make one and see how it goes! :-)
Thank you for sharing your expertise! I've watched several of your videos and they are very helpful and practical. I'm converting a 2010 Sienna. Fun project!
Very glad that the videos were helpful!
Awesome. Thank you. This has been on my mind for a while
You've made some really good van build videos... I like all your solutions , they're very practical looking forward to your next video
Thank you!
Good morning! New day, New week, and I am a new sub. This video won me over. This is something I can see myself being able to make.
I have seen this on some other channels, but you are very good at mechanics, shop, and giving instructions.
Thanks for taking us step by step thru the process. I will definitely try this if I get a van with a window as such. It should also work on many trucks, jeeps, cars and buses as well.🙂
Thank you for your encouragement and support!
Very well made, excellent job, thank you very much for your tutorial. 👍👍
Thank you too!
I’ve been outfitting my Toyota sienna for full-time living (in balls-hot Alabama), and i’ve been wrestling with ventilation for a while. Did not feel comfortable installing a roof vent. I tried the gutter screen idea, and my God it works! Thank you!
Very glad that it works for you!
Great video Shen, I did the same with my sienna!
👍👍
Another great informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, thanks for the video!
thanks its detailed for a great idea
clever! thx for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
thank you. Invisible is the best
🤝🤝
Excellent! Thank you kind sir.
Very nice!
👍👍🙂 thank you
We have purchased mesh window screens (a little sturdier than the typical mosquito net) for our 2018 Sienna. These go over the door frame. We simply slip them from the top when the front door is open, and tighten them from the inside. Once to door is closed, the glass can be raised or lowered at a desirable height.
No tools needed and all it takes is 1 minute.
Good solution.
Nice
Hi Shen, I am so glad I ran into your vids. Thank you so much for sharing. I am going to use what I learn to convert my SUV into a camper. What areas (like just California, or coast to coast) did you use the Sienna to travel with? The pics and vids of your travel logs are amazing.
Thank you and I am glad it was helpful to you! We live in California and have so far used Sienna along the California coast, Central Valley, and some areas in Oregan and Washington states.
Excellent video. Just wish each step stayed on the screen a bit longer. Thanks!
Thanks for your comment! I did this in order to make the video shorter. You may step/pause through those pages to slow down. Sorry for the inconvenience.
If you have an iPhone, simply take a screenshot of each image using the upper right and lower home buttons at least on my iPhone 8. Then, you can review them in your photos one step at a time
I thought the gutter guard screen holes are not fine enough to prevent the bugs. Since you have used it, it should be good. Thanks for sharing.
The gutter guard alone is not enough. It needs a piece of window screen as shown in the video.
Great video. Would you please give a description of window deflector? Thank you.
I bought it from Amazon: "Auto Ventshade 94365 Original Ventvisor Side Window Deflector Dark Smoke, 4-Piece Set for 2011-2018 Toyota Sienna".
国内淘宝很多直接套在车门上的网,非常方便,适合任何大小的车门,还有就是按照你的做法,做一个硬框网,然后再粘一个小USB充电的电扇。。。。。。。。
Could be a good idea!
Hi, on the bottom left of the gutter guard at 2:37 there is a small notch cut out. Did you have to do that to make it fit properly?
That small cut out if from the gutter guard. It does not affect making the window screen, because it will be covered by screen and tapes.
Another great video Mr. Shen Ye. Thank you for sharing. Where did you get the fan shown at 1:50? Thanks
There are many choices on Amazon. "OPOLAR Rechargeable Battery Operated Clip On Fan 5000mAh, Upgrade Quieter & Stronger Wind, 10W Fast Charge, Sturdy Hold Personal Portable Fan" was the only one I bought.
@@ShenYe01 Thank You!
Amazing execution! tell me, what is the use of the nylon strap?
The gutter guard is 3' long, a little short to cover the whole window. Nylon strap serve two purposes: 1) extend the screen to cover the whole window; 2) it is flexible enough to extend into the window side channel to provide a snug fit.
It would have been nice if a close up of the screen shown.
What did you use to cut the gutter guard for the narrower screen? Wire cutters or hack saw or ?? Thanks for any advice and thanks for the detailed method.
I had used "Aviation Snips" to cut the gutter guard, much easier than using hack saw.
Can you make my windows shade. I'm just getting started. I have a 2013 Toyota Seana Van
