Follow Along Evening Routine - (remove all the thinking)

  • A follow along routine for the evening to keep you more accountable. Press play and just follow along, it removes all the decision making and willpower needed. Personally it also stops me skipping or forgetting steps. Bluetooth headphones recommended, or at least use your phone so you can move about the house.
    I've struggled to maintain solid morning and evening routines for ages. Using this method I've had nearly 100% success for months, I hope it helps other people too.
    This routine is obviously not tailor made for you, we all have different goals and priorities, but focus on testing the process of using a recorded routine, does a recorded routine work for you? If it does I can create more customized ones.

    Im writing this post goodnight but wow thank you for this. Id been procrastinating on tidying my room and putting my washing away ALL day and I got it all done in those four minutes. This is a great idea, I have to say if I wasnt already subscribed to your channel I dont know how I would have gotten on with another type of video. But I feel as its from your channel ive listened to the stoic texts that you understand the kind of evening routine a stoic may enjoy. Compounded by the fact you too have a strong voice. Again thank you for this. I commit to doing this for seven days, and I look forward to starting the morning routine tomorrow. Goodnight for real now.

    Hello! It's my day 4 of following this and the morning routine video. I was so tired the first 3 days but today, despite having only 3 hours sleep last night, i felt so energetic and focused! I finished 2 works, cooked 2 meals, exercise, garden, made a tutorial video all in 1 day! I also had some time to watch a documentary & engage a bit on social media. I didn't feel the normal anxiety i felt previous to this routine (i had a very bad & long breakdown). I hope i will be able to keep this up even when things get tough. Thank you so much for this video!

    Wow, best thing/idea in a while (them motivational videos on UA-cam don't work anymore). I will try these videos upcoming days and if they work, I mean if I manage to do this, then I will record my own version just for my self with my own playlist music, wow, I already hear my own content/version. Will update how it turned out. Thanks again.

    • @egoalter8745
      @egoalter8745 5 років тому +3

      Easier said than done. I mean I have now done these things you mentioned on routine few days, but I do them on my time without listening the video, I listened videos few times so I remember what's in them. What is very surprising is that I do this things mindfully and not like in the past (I kinda needed to force myself). Now it's like this and that and all is done in a second. I mean my own routine which was struggling earlier. I guess the mind set plays a big role.
      Very powerful videos you made, I cannot explain why or how they worked on me so positively/well. High hopes that this lasts. Still planning to record my own track with my own voice, like some kinda army general speaking on the backside to sleepyhead morning version of me, with some extra stuff like some inspirational quotes/notes/remainders for the day/etc between the tasks. In a matter of fact I could record every evening new one for next morning while doing evening routine. How did you came up with this idea? I have achieved in past week more than whole last half year, and without any effort. Maybe you have more ideas similar to these. Interesting stuff on your channel, some of never heard of, but kinda knew that them exists. Thanks

    • @VoxStoica
      @VoxStoica  5 років тому +4

      @@egoalter8745 Hey just saw this comment (it was stuck in spam for some reason!)
      Great to hear it's been working for you. I too transitioned away from the recording after a few weeks as the behaviour become habitual and needed no guidance. Although that just frees up space to listen to other guided routines to improve other parts of life!
      I guess I came up with it several years ago when I used to listen to a text-to-speech version of some guys motivational blog post every time I went running. I think that was the genesis of the idea. But as with most things it's ended up as the accumulation of many smaller ideas over time.
      You say you've achieved a lot in the past week, are you referring to just the routine or has the disciplined behaviour spread into other areas as well?
      You might find recording a new one every evening tough to maintain; that in itself is another habit to stick to and a fair amount of mental energy. But definitely experiment. Using 'previous you' to tell 'current you' what to do can be really effective, we usually know what we should be doing, it's just 'current us' always comes up with excuses why not to do it.

Like you say, it makes life a little better every time you do it. The only problem I‘ve had so far is, that the meditation background sound is too close to horror games I‘ve seen so it creeps me out and stops me from being able to zone out and stop thinking.

    • @VoxStoica
      @VoxStoica  5 років тому +5

      I do it to explicitly recognise what made today good/bad, and for what reason. I find it helps me focus on doing more of the good and avoiding the bad. An example would be:
      Tuesday: 7/10
      Good: Great feeling after doing improv, worked hard and published a video
      Bad: Missed my alarm because I was hungover, forgot to do stretching today
      Conclusions: focus on doing more improv comedy. Remind myself whilst working that it makes me feel good afterwards even if not in the moment. Always avoid drinking more than 4 pints. Develop a way of integrating stretching into my daily routine so I don't forget/avoid it.
      A contrived example but hopefully illuminating :)
