- Hi everyone,
Welcome or welcome back to my channel. My name is Jess and I love doing DIY, making clothes in a "simply but pretty" way.
In today's video, I'm so happy to introduce you all my new series "Dating wardrobe" where I will share with you my picks for the dating outfits I would love to wear on the different types of dating. And in this video, we will start with the first date outfit idea. It's the Vintage midi slip dress. It's in sleeveless style with v-neck, gathered fabric and no zipper. It's quite elegant but not too sexy or casual and also very comfortable. Therefore it's such a perfect outfit for the first date. I hope you like it and try it out.
To make this DIY, please check out my basic information below:
Sewing machine: Brother Auto Tension
Material: 3m of thick chiffon fabric
My body measurements: 80-66-92cm. I'm 165cm tall and usually wear Small size.
I learn sewing by myself. So I would love to know more sharing from you guys to improve my skill. Please join me in this sewing journey by being a part of it here www.jessdangdi...

Absolutely love this dress! I would however like to warn anyone with a curvier body: the measurements don’t work if you have a larger bust. For me I ended up with way too much fabric around my waist and armpits! I’ll alter the pattern I already have, but I’d recommend checking out a different video if you haven’t started yet and are curvy. 😊
Hi! Sorry im new to sewing but id like to know what changes to make because normally im a size S but I have a bigger bust and don’t want to face this issue when beginning the sewing process
@@zoeriveroszamora2946 I tried altering it, but it still turned out a little wonky. I’d honestly recommend just using a pattern like Coraline Street’s pattern, or look up a different slip dress video like The Essential Club’s one!
Could you please explain the process for 14 cm the bottom part preparation again. How did you get that 14cm thingy is not clear to me
@@sachithamithraratne6321it is from the end of that diagonal neckline to the absolute bottom line of the bodice, the last vertical line she drew.
i love how it can go from casual to elegant, just based color and fabric, and the pattern making part is just so easy to follow
Thank you!
I love watching your tutorials, they're simple but well explained making it easy to follow. its such a gorgeous dress!!! i think it'd look gorgeous in a satin fabric for a more dressed-up look!
Thank you so much!
@@JessDangDIYbuenos días muy bien explicados ojalá fuera en español gra cias
Love this dress! I love that it has full shoulders instead of spaghetti straps. Thanks for the tutorial!
Glad you like it!
Your channel is absolutely amazing!!! Love that you show us how to create the patterns as well in such a clear way. And your style is exactly what I was looking for👌- feminine and just so chic. Can’t wait to try to sew some of your dresses!!!❤️
I made this dress and it is the best piece of clothing i've ever made! Thank you so much Jess for your tutorials and your instructions on pattern making :) it's amazing, I will definitely continue to follow your tutorials
I'm so happy you made it
YES JESS YES!!! You’ve done it again! I’m definitely going to make this ASAP! You’re so talented, keep it up!
Thanks a lot!
I really like your channel because we can draw the pattern on our self, and you make the videos very easy and clear to follow.
So grateful for you. 🥰, keep going 🙏😘❤️
Thank you for loving my works!
This dress is reAlly beautiful and “elegant”. I did it on cotton spandex color black with floral
Print and yes it’s perfect for dates ;)
I made it and I love it!!! It fits perfectly. My measurements are the same as hers so I didn't change anything. I would probably add some coverage to the chest area but other than that it's amazing❤
Very nice technique, and a lovely finished product. I love that you clean lined the dress so that it is just as neat on the inside as it is on the outside.
Thanks a lot!
The fabric and the dress are both amazing! Thanks for yet another mind-blowing tutorial
Thank you so much!
I really like sewing, but I donot have sewing machine. Today I was feeling hectic and want to take a break from my work. So I decided to draw the pattern on a paper according to my size following this video and I think it came out really good!! I am planning to buy a sewing machine in few months and want to sew this!
It's so great to know you tried to make it. Hope you will make more in the future with your upcoming sewing machine
I started sewing by hand before I bought my machine. It’s slow but a great way to learn and it something to do sitting at tv😁
love your chanel so much you explain everything so well and i learn a lot about making patterns from you
thank you so much
The fabrics you're using for your DIYs are so beautiful🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much!
So pretty Jess, you always choose the loveliest fabrics.
Thanks a lot!
You are amazing , i tryed and it went well, except i have taken wrong measurements , but i adujest it later ... thank you so much and wishing you best of luck❤️🔥
You're always amazing! ❤️
But it will be very very useful if you also add the information for the setting of your sewing machine. It will help the beginner soo much 🥰
Thanks Jes!
Thank you for your suggestion! Usually my setting is very basic. That's why I didn't put it on, except for some special stitching. But I'll try to do it in my upcoming videos

It's my pleasure. Thanks for subbing!
You are amazing Jess 🤗
so very pretty! love the fabric, too
Thanks a lot!
This is so pretty.💜
Thanks a lot!
Hi Jess, can you help clarify what is the “14cm from the end of neck to the end of the top bodice”? I am stuck there. Thanks a bunch !!😙
I’m sitting here trying to figure that out too 😂 been going through it in my mind for an hour what that could mean!
ah, it's the length at the top part of the dress when you make the pattern. It's the gap between the length of the top part - the length of the neck
Aaahhh.. Such a great dress... Can't wait to recreate it..!!!❤
Glad you like it
Adoro le tue creazioni ❤😊
Thank you Jess
My pleasure!
Me encantan tus vídeos, eres la mejor, bendiciones
love the fabrics
Thank you!
Harikasiniz .. Turkiye’den sevgiler 🥰🤗
Super fan of all your work 😍😍😍😍
Thanks a lot!
Merci ❤❤
Love the video! But I didn’t understand the measurement “the length between the end of the neck and the length of the top bodice”, I’m kinda stuck there 😞 could someone elaborate?
same! i cant tell where to measure
So beautiful! 🤩🤩❤
Thank you!
So good I love it
Thank you!
thanks a lot Jess
My pleasure
JESS, CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT KIND OF FABRIC ARE YOU USEING FOR THIS MIDI SLIP DRESS AND SOME STEP YOU DID SO QUICK, IT'S HARD TO FOLLOW, I WISH YOU CAN DO MORE THIS KIND OF DRESS WITHOUT THE RUSS. THANK YOU WHAT YOU DO
I'm sorry for some problems you got. I'll try to make these dresses soon
Очень красиво!!! Молодец!
Wooooooo sooooooo nice 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🥳🥳🥳
Thank you!
Hi, I don't really understand how you got the measurment at 4:18 could you please help?
It s so beautiful, thanks
Thank you!
Beautiful! I wish you could walk around a little longer so I can see it finished 💞💞💞
Thank you! I'll try to show it more in the other videos
@@JessDangDIY thank you! When the other “recommended videos to watch “ come on at the end they get in the way😁 I love to see it finished so I can decide if I should try it. I’ve learned so much from your videos 💞
Превосходно, молодец!!!
Платье прекрасное ❤👍💐
Es muy interesante tu sistema de patronaje, solo conocía otros más convencionales como aprender el tuyo? Gracias
Hi Jess, the chiffon material used you mentioned is 36,45 or 70inches width? I just love this dress and want to make it. Do you think it will drape well in cotton?
So prettyyyy.. Please please please teach us how to make a hoodie 😭I don't know anyone else who I can properly learn from.
I recently made the hug hoodie from madeit patterns and it was super easy to follow :) (I am not affiliated with them, I just really like the pattern and, as I don't think Jess will make a hoodie anytime soon, thought you might like it too :))
I'll try to check it out soon
Help! I'm stuck! What does the length between the end of the neck to the neck of the top bodice at 4:07 mean?
Çok tatlı çok beceriklisin jess.Türkiye'den selamlar🇹🇷
I'm thinking of making this dress but with the sleeves from your wedding photoshoot dress tutorial, do you think that would work out? I love your tutorials btw :)))
Yes, it can
hi! how did you cut the pieces out relative to the grain? how should i cut it such that it drapes well?
Porfavor podrías ayudarme la medida 1/4 de debajo del busto + 2 es correcta o entendí mal es tomada en la cintura? Minuto 4:29 , porfavor quítame esa duda , muchas gracias
*Hears no zipper*: is this heaven?
Yes, it is :)
It's really wowo DIY ......can you more videos for summer dress 🤞🥀❣️ from Nepal
Thanks a lot!
What kind of paper is best for making patterns? Does it need to be specific length and width? Thank you, love your work!
I don't care much about the paper for pattern making. As long as it's the straight paper, it's all good. Sometimes I use old newspaper or magazine to make patterns and to save paper
Hi Jess, thank so much for your sharing. It’s so beautiful! I can’t wait to make my own dress but is it possible if I want to make it less deep v?
Yes, you can. At the step where you mark the position for the end of the front neck, you just need to make that mark higher than the bust line. It will make the neck less deep
@@JessDangDIY thanks Jess❤️
Hi. I've just discovered ur chanel. Thanks so much. Where do you buy fabric from?
Hi Jess, I love the dress that you are wearing at the beginning (0:06) of the video. The white one with the square neckline and puffy sleeves. Do you have a free pattern and a tutorial for this one?
Yes, you can check it out here ua-cam.com/video/bRDG6_T428w/v-deo.html
Hello! I was trying to draw the pattern for this but got stumped at the part of the bust size.. what if the 1/4 bust size + 1 is more than the first depth of the dress neckline?
It's okay if it's deeper than your neckline.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This dress is beautiful! Has anyone ever tried it on a larger bust size? would love to do it but am unsure how it will translate to my measurements!
Sorry I didn't show how I got my measurements in this video. But you can adjust the measurements at the shoulder size, bust size and waist size
Hi Jess Can you please make bell sleeve midi dress 🙏❤
Thanks for your suggestion! I'll try to check it out soon
😍😍👏👏👏👏
Bonito 👍
Que don tiene tus manos
Buen trabajo guapa 👍❤😘
i love watching your videos! but i really find it hard to make a pattern, is there any way that you could help me? i really love and enjoy sewing but it is frustrating not to be able to understand to make patterns 🥺💔
If you find it's hard to make your own pattern, you can try using the pattern from the others to make your own clothes. Lot of people sell their patterns there
Great dress I'll definitely try this!! Is there any other fabric that would work as well? I've seen that this is a bit difficult to sew. I'm just a beginner Thanks!
I think silk or soft linen or soft cotton fabric can work well with this design
@@JessDangDIY Thanks!!! 💕
Nice 😍👍😘😘
Thank you!
Please make winter blouse and skirt from wool or other fabrik
I'll try to check it out soon
Tank you
Do you think this would work adding a small angel sleeve?
I think it would be fine. But I prefer the sleeveless or actual sleeve
At the end, at 12:54, do you mean that you need to make under stiching seam on the neckline too? And if you do, do you seam just the front neckline? Or front and back)
Yes, to keep all the end fabric to one side
Una duda en el minuto 4:29 dices 1/4 debajo de busto + 2 cm, pero nos muestras tomandome la medida de la cintura, pregunta que medida es debajo de busto o cintura? Gracias
Jess hi.please can you see the videos of kemafrik channel too.we like your explains.take examples of that channel too.would be good.more videos you make is ok.thank you.🥰
Thank you for letting me know. I'll try to check it out soon
🤩🥰🙌❣️
Can you have a tutorial of the dress you are wearing ?
I have the tutorial for that dress already. You can check it out on my channel
Jess could I buy this pattern from you with the addition of a butterfly sleeve. My size is UK16, xxx
Sorry I don't sell this pattern. I'll try to make it soon
What is fabric is it? Is it stretchy? Thanks you🥰
It's thick chiffon fabric. And it's not stretching
All I'm saying Jess... if you made patterns you could literally take all my money 😂
I hope I can do it one day, haha
@@JessDangDIY Let's do it Jess! I would be happy to collab with you... I've made over 300 patterns for Mood, a dozen or so for Gunnar Deatherage, and regularly draft for RTW designers and home-sewing pattern designers. You do the designs, I can draft & grade.
Tú és maravilhosa e gosto muito das dicas 😘
Thank you for the tuto! I sew the dress but this pattern doesn’t look good on big breast 😢
I could understand your point. Will try to make another one for bigger breast person
🥰
🥰
🥰
Is it okay to use linen fabric for this?
Yes, it's okay. But I would go with soft linen instead of the hard one. Because this dress need to have the fall down feeling of the fabric to create the feminie look
How much fabric i need for the dress
