u use distillation when there is sufficient difference in their boiling point but here it is less than 25k so that is why we use fractional distillation
Simple distillation is used when the difference in the boiling points is 25K or more and fractional distillation is used when the difference in the temperature in less than 25K. Since the difference of boiling points of acetone and benzene is 24K, we use fractional distillation to separate them.
Bruh simple distillation is used for when the difference is above 25k but you need it in simple distillation you can repeat the same process for multiple times but time waste so that you can use this fractional distillation method because this method is used for separating below 25 k and simple process no need to repeat again ..

Why does the liquid with higher boiling point condense in the coloumn?
Yeah I also thought the same. 🤔
I think it is because as it rises up to the column it moves away from the heat source and the temperature isn't high enough for it to further leave the surface so the gas condenses and slides back down into the flask [However, the liquid with the lower boiling point still leaves as the heat is sufficient]
