@Backyard Bullion great video, I'm researching silver pouring because I'd like to get in to it. I can't figure out how to navigate your website to find the furnaces.
We do not sell the furnaces any more sadly, nothing wrong with them but we were just too busy to keep up with everything we were doing! This is the supplier I use: www.technicalsupermarket.com/
I haven't gotten to a furnace as of yet. So far my carious cups and 8000 Bernz Torches are serving me well and so very affordable. This unit is a nice looking piece of kit but I think for now I am staying as is. Thanks though. I can see this being an arc unit it would be far superior to a coil type unit. Pour times with my setup is generally 5 to 7 min after the first pour. It can run up to 12 min for a heavy first load.
@@BackyardBullion I couldn't do it, chomping down on my silver...but i have bought a bunch of generics lately with the ebay deals bringing some in below spot...I might have a plan.
Great presentation sir , may I ask you about their smaller model R9-4 which does not use a controller ? Is it effective for small quantities of 2.5 Oz ? How can it work without a controller?
@@BackyardBullion so it only uses about 1kwh to run? I'm amazed, would've guessed far more. My apologies for plaguing your comments sections, watched a good chunk of all your videos this weekend!
@@BackyardBullion They have really cools coins and rounds even if i bought coins at €15,00 each an ounce the postage is €20,00 making the coin very high premium the postage is more than the coin in some cases. So if i were to melt it into bars or ingots for resale there would be no way i could ever sell it for even a small profit. I need scrap silver real cheap or silver shot real cheap. Even if i didn't sell it and kept it as an investment it would not work i would have originally destroyed the numismatic value of the original coin that could have gained value for me in the future for collectors
New to the silver bullion. And learning all the time and I am really thinking of getting the small one in the next few months... Can I ask what the furnace is nlike regarding the electricity bill? . Loving your work. Jaggy
@@BackyardBullion that is fantastic thanks with my birthday in may I now Know what a gift to myself is going to be ,,, thought the electricity would be well expensive so very pleased at the running cost ... looking forward to your future videos :D
This is an old video and we don't retail them directly any more, but you can visit the same seller I use for all my equipment: www.technicalsupermarket.com/
This is quite an old video, we have stopped selling them because we are just so busy with other work right now. You can buy directly from the same company, www.technicalsupermarket.com/
I DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF IT BUT IT'S GREAT, AND THE GUY WHO MAKES THEM IS VERY HELPFUL ,IT'S THE OTHER SIDE OF LONDON AND IT WAS CHEAPER GOING THEE AND BUYING IT WITH THE BIT'S AND BOBS YOU NEED . SORRY I CAN'T HELP YOU ANY MORE , DON'T GO FOR THE CHINA ONES .
Awesome you are a distributor for these now. I would love to get one but the wife still won’t let me. 😭 I love watching live pours on here though. Thanks for the video.
No problems, but everything has been sold. We list items periodically but they sell within a few hours. If you wanted to buy something you can email me on byb@backyardbullion.com and we can make something to order.
Have you already done a video on source for raw silver to be used in the Kiln later on? Also two other points/questions: how you make or buy molds and then design imprints? Although I'm in the US, I'd still like to understand the Home smelter. You do such beautiful work. Dan
We get the raw silver from the european mint and it comes in the form of shot. The moulds - a lot of them are pre made items. Otherwise I work with a mould make called GNG Machine works and they can make things we design. It is very good to help you and these kilns are able to be shipped worldwide if that is something you were looking to get.
@@BackyardBullion So for the molds you have made do you submit a graphic file of the design and they machine the mold from there? If so what software do you use? Also what file format do most mold makers tend want the design to be in? Thank you for such a quick reply.
I tend to just send the artwork in word or PDF and they work out a design on their system which I approve and we go from there. I think each designer will be a little different.
The furnaces include 1 graphite crucible and a pair of tongues to lift it out. We sell the crucibles along side many other accessories including moulds, safety equipment etc. We also ship worldwide so get in touch if you want to get hold of a furnace!
Wow BYB...that is so cool! Congrats on being a distributor. I am honored to have my customized 3 ozt pocket piece from your kitchen table, I mean workbench 😁 and am really looking forward to the next project you are working on for me. You are a blessed man. Continued success my friend.
Great video B YB you're awesome dude how do I go about getting a piece of silver Maybe a ripple bar how do I pay you as I've been wanting to get one for a long time.. I'm gonna start pouring to my friend so my friend has a shop with A Oxygen acetylene torch so all I need is The tongs and a crucible but I wanna get a furnace I think there a lot more easier and faster to use but thank you Backyard bullion No silver archery no more.. Lol Cheers mate
Almost thought the Brand of furnace was called "THESE". When you sell something and wanna be successful at it you have to give a customer a Name right away and over and over so when they think about anything that has to do with your product your business/sponsors name is what they think of.
Congratulations. You seem to be the perfect gentleman to represent these. Great price too!
Worldwide shipping available so if you are in the market let me know!

Yes it takes a lot longer to get ready to pour - but at least I can do all of the other admin style things I need to do!
@@BackyardBullion Got ya, LOL. That stuff never ends eh !
I think i will be getting one of these after christmas is over with,,, i love that they are made in the uk
They are very good indeed - just shout whenever you are ready!
@@BackyardBullion Hi, Are you still selling the furnace?
Not directly, no. But you can buy from the same company I use www.technicalsupermarket.com/
Where do u get ur cheapest silver for smelting apart from the EUROmint silver shot?
Other than the secondary market basically just from the EU Mint.
Been toying with the idea of pouring. Very good instructional video. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure - we ship these furnaces worldwide so feel free to get in touch if you decide to buy!
Cool. I don't pour, but I find the process interesting to watch and learn about.
It is fascinating indeed!
I don't pour silver, but have a question. Do you have to season the crucibles if they are new? Or are they just a plug in and go for it thing?
When you cut up big chunks or those too big for the crucible how do you do it?....put blades in the vice and close it ?.
I have a giant pair of bolt cutters 😉

Great presentation sir , may I ask you about their smaller model R9-4 which does not use a controller ? Is it effective for small quantities of 2.5 Oz ? How can it work without a controller?
Great work and thanks for sharing this info. When your done pouring do you let the silver cool in the crucible or do you have to pour it all out?
You can leave it to cool and when it is you can dump it out easily.
cool, I can't even save your video for some reason but am looking for gold/silver/pgms/copper etc.
AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU TO THIS GUY WHO HELPED ME OUT , HE KNOWS HIS STUFF THANK GOD .
It's a resistance furnace, identical to a toaster. Arc furnaces use an electronic Arc like a welder.
Very cool. Well deserved my friend. Congrats!
Appreciate it my friend!
Thanks BYB! Great video as always. Looks like a lot of fun to do.
Great video and congrats on the distribution deal. Do you have a rough view of running costs?
I just worked out and for the 100 hours a month that my furnaces are running it costs about £8.50 ($12) per month.
