Hey SilverDragons! Thank you so much for the vlog. Very in depth on everything needed to pour. Looks like I have a decision to make wether or not I'm going to start pouring.
I've started melting and stuff about a month ago. I've made a bunch of ingots so far, bronze, copper, brass, and it's so fun. I totally suggest others to get into it. It's a fun hobby.
This is just another reason I’m a follower and General of your channel….. Not only do you produce kickbutt art, You actually take the time to educate us newbies that might want to get started in this as a hobby or side hustle Such as yourself. I’m actively buying everything that’s needed to do this myself And me and my grandson Mayson to do together…… It will be called MAYson Silver! I will be sending you my first pour dragon!
I was also wondering what to purchase for melting and pouring. It’s cool to learn from someone so close too. I’m in the Beaverton area and have been learning a lot from your videos. 👍🏻
Thx Silver Dragons. Perfect timing as I just bought a tabletop furnace and am going to do my first pour this week once I get a few more supplies. Very helpful and informative! I'll keep you posted with my first pour...
Thanks for the video, love the behind the curtain look at your process. It would be fun to see a "work day vid" or a "start to finish vid" from melting to pouring to cleaning to stamping, that would be a lot of fun.
Great shop tour SD, I've been wanting to get into this for a while, thanks for showing what I'd need once I'm in a position to get started. I'm going to grow my stack more for the time being. I saved this video in my favorites so I can reference it again when the time is right.
Hey Silver Dragon Love your channel Thanks for everything you have done for the community of silver lovers! I’ve bought a furnace and everything else I need to get started pouring in Australia. I’ll be sure to send you a gift once I’ve perfected the art :) Thanks brother Firebird Bullion
Fantastic video. Been looking for this. Just bought an electric kelm...its still in the mail..lets start pouring soon. Lol.. thanks for making the video...all appreciated
Man thats a lot of stuff to get started man!!! Crazy. Btw watch out for those cheap tips they scratch the silver when you shine it. Hiho had a problem with them a while back in one of his videos just a heads up👍
David Salama yeah I have heard that... as long as you know what you are doing most of the scratching can be mitigated... go slow and use lots of polish 👍🏽🔥🐉
Bagginsilver you are. One day when I grows all ups I going to melt too. One day when I'm older. Your living the dream my friend. I have a 100 ozt shot I'm dying to melt.
Have you a used the red furnace to melt any copper? I heard that the heating element burns out fast at that temp. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Can you smelt metal indoors? Particularly silver. If yes what are some safety tips you could give? I figured it would be safe with an electric furnace in an unfinished basement with plenty of space around it
Those light colored bricks should be something you can pick up at a fireplace shop. Wood burning stoves are lined with them, and they are a "consumable" Just a fyi
I've been trying to get an answer for this question. When making homemade bars are they harder to sell due to questionable origins and possible additional metals added to lower the silver content from dishonest people?
On Instagram, people don't seem to have a problem selling their stuff. Someone will check purity. Once you are outed, your business is over. The person who buys your bar may have problems reselling it in the future, depending on who he is trying to sell to.
for a rare ocassion smelting of precious metals of 100 grams, do you recommend the furnance or the crucible ? you didnt mention borax, dont you use it ?
That first furnace do you need that on a heat riddance surface as I have no space to do it, I k ow sounds silly but wanted to do it in the kitchen. Thanks
Getting ready for my first pour. Was gonna use gas. What is the cost of running the electric? I know it's a 110 outlet. If anyone knows please comment.
@silverdragons Those molds would give a "perfect" round with the design as the design is built in. How would you make a round that looks like an old pirate coin where the edges or "ugly" would you mold into a regular round then hammer the design with a die? use some kind a press?
Electric furnaces seem like a easier way to melt, but I've seen negative reviews about coils burning out within Short time of using it. Are there any reliable well made furnaces that don't burn out so quick
I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering what size in mm is your custom dragon stamp logo. I am about to purchase a stamp of my own and was unsure what size would look good on a 1 to 5 oz round or bar.
Can you put multiple ingots in the tumbler at the same time? I want a better way to polish than hours of scrubbing. I worry that multiple ingots in the tumbler with dent each other up. Thoughts?
So if I bought similar tools. One furnace. Red one. And all other tools. What kind of cost are we actually looking at to get into this? Let's pretend I already have the know how and have done tons of tests. (Which I havent either one) What is the cost of all this, cash out the door let's go..?
I'm not ready for this full scale operation yet lol but would love to start soon. Even watching it being done is a great joy for me.
Pro tip : you can watch series at Flixzone. Been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
@Iker Crew definitely, been using Flixzone for since december myself =)

Can you do a more in-depth video on the casting?
I’m just not sure what that is.
The thing you were talking about with the clay

Thank you for giving precious information !
I love this man.
I put Apple cider vinegar in my tumbler because it melts and cleans the graphite or glaze off the silver then all I need to do is polish it✌
Mellow Stacker very cool! I do have some vinegar handy which I use from time to time... it really works!!! 🔥🐉

Those light colored bricks should be something you can pick up at a fireplace shop.
Wood burning stoves are lined with them, and they are a "consumable"
Just a fyi

Will do!
Don’t forget steel toed shoes if something lands on the floor.
Your way or mine. The best is that we get to do this and have a great time making it happen bud. Woohoo eh.
for a rare ocassion smelting of precious metals of 100 grams, do you recommend the furnance or the crucible ? you didnt mention borax, dont you use it ?
Thanks so much! Very helpful
What's the powder called that you put between the clay molds. Parting clay powder?
That first furnace do you need that on a heat riddance surface as I have no space to do it, I k ow sounds silly but wanted to do it in the kitchen.
Thanks
I’m sure this was asked but I haven’t seen it yet, but do you coat your crucible with borax?
Do you think a gas furnace is cheaper to run dollar wise, than electric or vice versa?
Always wanted to make my own rounds
You helped me decide to not do pouring...lol..too much work for too little return...lol.
BusyBeeCompany well I do it for the joy of it but yes it is a lot of work 😂👍🏽🔥🐉
Getting ready for my first pour. Was gonna use gas. What is the cost of running the electric? I know it's a 110 outlet. If anyone knows please comment.
Great video! Thanks!
Do you have to replace the stainless steel shot after each tumbler?
Do you have to wear respirator or n95 mask when melting silver and gold?
When I get a torch the only thing it is going to be used for is making silver, copper, and gold shot.
Do I need to add borax when melting pure silver in an electric furnace?
@silverdragons Those molds would give a "perfect" round with the design as the design is built in.
How would you make a round that looks like an old pirate coin where the edges or "ugly" would you mold into a regular round then hammer the design with a die? use some kind a press?
Hello Silver Dragons
Is there an electric furnace that can melt a 1 KG bar of copper?
What brand is the electric furnace That’s red?
Electric furnaces seem like a easier way to melt, but I've seen negative reviews about coils burning out within Short time of using it. Are there any reliable well made furnaces that don't burn out so quick
Hey I am looking at makeing a hockey puck of silver. Would u suggest using a mold and then a Bridgeport to mill the excess before I clean it.
I really enjoy your videos. I was wondering what size in mm is your custom dragon stamp logo. I am about to purchase a stamp of my own and was unsure what size would look good on a 1 to 5 oz round or bar.
Hey Silver Dragons man this videos was so helpful. I just have one question, where can I buy real gold or silver? I want to start moulding
So why don’t you use a devil forge?
Unfortunately map gas no longer is produced since 2008. Map pro is only a couple hundred degrees more than propane. Unless oxygen is added..
Where do I get those cool looking molds with designs
Basically it can melt all metals below iron melting temp
Can you put multiple ingots in the tumbler at the same time? I want a better way to polish than hours of scrubbing. I worry that multiple ingots in the tumbler with dent each other up. Thoughts?
nice video with good information.
Jorge Luna thanks my friend that’s what I was going for!!! 🔥🐉👍🏽
What silver do you melt down? Silver rounds?
Can you melt and pour sterling silver?
Any advices for using a Milled Steel Ingot Mold from Etsy, instead of a Graphite Mold?
You poured a big copper bar yet?
I'm getting into pouring. I plan on doing brass copper silver.
Is there a company or type of graphite mold you recommend
I’m thinking of oversizing the mold so I can get exact dimensions
Where do you buy the type of silver to pour your own....
So if I bought similar tools. One furnace. Red one. And all other tools. What kind of cost are we actually looking at to get into this? Let's pretend I already have the know how and have done tons of tests. (Which I havent either one) What is the cost of all this, cash out the door let's go..?
You are FL based, correct? Would you consider smelting some of my scrap?
