  • A member of Harvard's teaching faculty, Sujata Bhatia is a physician, bio and chemical engineer, showing us to be "Innovative by Nature." Bhatia asked us when considering medical breakthroughs, not to just think of technology, such as 3D printing, but silk, corn and other natural resources. She told us how we've "Gained Altitude" when the Egyptians were the first to use silk sutures and now today we use corn to make patches for the heart. "Innovation is the combination of both new and old, where new combinations lead to new ideas and new realities."
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
