I realize this is a year later than your question, but I suppose it actually helps answer more now than then.
I have the 2021 Tahoe Premier with 46,000 miles. I haven’t had a hiccup with mine. I have towed my 6,400 lbs trailer all over the Northwest and it handles my trailer without any issues. It has the 5.3L instead of the 6.2L. I wanted that engine because I already have a Range Rover that requires premium fuel and didn’t want to have an additional vehicle requiring that extra expense. It’s nice being able to pull up and pay .60+ cents less, a gallon.
Also, if I’m traveling at 60-65 mph, I’ll see 22 mpg easily.
I also towed my sons Mazda from Oregon to Oklahoma on a car dolly. The Mazda weighs in at 3,100 lbs and I’m assuming the dolly was around 300lbs. Even going over the mountains of Oregon, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado, I still maintain an average of 15 mpg with the car in tow. I was more than impressed.

The RST trim is just an LT appearance package. The RST should be essentially a Tahoe SS, but sadly it's just a very expensive blackout package with stupid 22 inch wheels. This should have the 6.2, track tuned and lowered suspension, performance tires, magnetic ride control, standard LSD and more aggressive seats.

That the tahoe is so different from the 1500 silverado is very bad in the long run. Since this means that spare parts will be more expensive, and used spare parts will be less. And this is exactly what makes the 2000-2006 tahoe such a great work truck, because it is reliable, cheap to maintain and very comfortable in everyday performance

This is the only guy showing a real tow with the suspension 95% of buyers will end up with: the standard non-air ride suspension. All the other vids right now focus on the AT4/Z71 or Denali/High countries, and GM makes sure to provide them with the air ride that is very difficult to get right now. Also only available in those models. I have a ‘21 Yukon XL but standard suspension with the tow package. It tows great, although I’m disappointed with the amount of squat at high payload.

Has anyone else climbed underneath the new Tahoe to look at the independent rear suspension? To my eye, it’s ‘low’ and exposed. 8” of ground clearance over a wide span (not just a low spot in the center, like a sold rear axle). May not be a big deal, but it caught my eye right away when looking while at the dealership. Sequoia rear end (also independent) seems to tuck things away a bit better and provides 9.6” clearance. Might just be my perspective.

I also rarely tow something that is 7k with 0 wind resistance. Tow a 7k travel trailer with a nice side/head wind - that’ll really test if the vehicle can handle the weight with ease. My vehicle is rated for 11000lbs, a 26ft travel trailer on a windy day makes it feel less than adequate. I have no issue with power, just handling.

Dear Truck King, I know this is a bit off topic.. But! In your opinion. With a travel trailer that has a dry weight of 2700lbs and Max trailer weight of 3500lbs. Is that too much to ask of a Wrangler? Should I be shopping for a vehicle with max tow in the 5000lbs range or would the tough little jeep be OK? Thank you!

Stephen, On the surface everything certainly looks swell but I wish I had half as much faith in GM's ability to make a long-lasting truck as I do in your ability to make a long-lasting review ;-)

GM trucks use to be great. My mechanic use to have trucks up to the 600,000 KM. but that started to changed. Now they are hit/miss. and more often miss. :( 2500 are still good. My cus had suburban that lasted over 15 years....

@@damitbobby6677 the thing is made in Mexico is just assembled. Parts come from all over. It depends on the standards used to make the parts. Ford has a study done years ago, and the researcher wrote on book what and how. This was 80 or 90.. the question was people preferred Japanese cars. The are better made, why they have better parts. Why are parts better..... i can on all afternoon with details. American trucks are good becuas they are built to work and use better parts made higher standards.

Nice review. As a SUV owner of a 2000 Excursion and a 2009 Yukon I will add that the big towing issue is that the weight of the SUV itself takes away from safe towing capacity. You go putting on more than 3000 lbs you are gonna over run your brakes if you are not careful. Electric brakes are almost must have to tow safely. No body talks about that issue. Those SUVs can barely handle themselves. Don't get me wrong, SUV is great. It's just nowadays I've towing , I'm towing with my F-350.
