Rebel Pop'R: Let it sit when it lands, count to 5. Then, twitch, twitch, pause... and with slightly slack line, pull down and hard with the rod tip to cause it to make a 'Gloop' sound. Pause about 3 seconds, and repeat. The twitches cause it to spit, making the sound of a fleeing baitfish. The 'gloop' sound is what triggers a reaction bite.
I could watch you bank fish all day long! Really like it when you fish with the lite lines and lite lures. Micro baits are so fun! It was a good day of feeshin 😊
I absolutely love using my light action setup for these types of creeks. 6 ft Ugly Stik GX2 with a Mitchell 310 reel. 4 lb monofilament is all I use. I can't get around to using fluorocarbon or braid. Sometimes monofilament will get it done for all sorts of fishing.
For my ultralight setup I use a 5'6 shakespeare mirco series ultralight, with a cadence ideal 1000 real, and 4lb stren mono. Here in Kentucky on the Elkhorn creek & smaller creeks use alot of mini rebel baits, 1/16 oz rooster tails, 2.5 inch yum crawbugs, and them Nikko 3 inch hellgramites. Love it haha
I started fishing Rebel lures after seeing them on your channel. The crick hopper is an absolute killer, but I’ve been trying other models too. It seems like they all have a really tight wiggle that really draws the attention from fish

Love this video and type of fishing brother. I'd wade a few smaller creeks with my 4'6 Berkley Cherrywood, Abu Garcia ultralight and 4# line and tear up the bluegill, green sunfish and rock bass. Largemouth were a bonus. Beetle Spin, tiny Rebel minnow and Pop R were kings. But you introduced me to the Crick Hopper my friend. And those are killing pond bass, creek smallies and rock bass now. Try doing a pop sequence with the popr then pause it until the ripples from the pops dissipate, lots of times they will eat it when it's sitting still.
Those little rebel lures have been solid performers for decades. They were my go-to lures for creek fishing back in the early to mid 80s. Thanks for sharing your afternoon trip.
I always shave the bottom lip of the popper way down. It makes it spit more than chug, it’s less obnoxious. Great video today, I gotta go fix an AC now

It's cool to see how far rebel lures have come!!! When I was a kid I would pay the extra dollar or 2 and get a rapala because half the time the rebels weren't balanced and would have messed up action!!
John I used the rebel minnow also there's a small one inch and a half and I use the Blue on top silver and I used the Chrome Style it works very good also

I've always snipped off 1 of the rear hooks on micro trebles. I always get the fish that eats all of the hook, yet you can't get it back out easily. Snipping one off makes it easier for sure.
On the tiny Pop R. Think ripples not pops. Just tiny little pops. I like a 3 pop pause and repeat reel with it, but you can mix up the pops just pause in between. Sometimes just a second, other times for an eternity. 😂
Very cool man. I have always loved the little rebel lures, especially the crick hopper and the little craws those have consistently been faves of mine since I was a kid. I usually keep at least 3 colors of each. I need to get better at using the crick-popper, I'm just not that skilled at popper lures. Great video, and I always like seeing people using small lures.
Those are some great lures to fish with. Would love to set up a trail cam on those fallen trees across the creek to see what critters are using them as a bridge.

I used to have success with Rebel Pop-Rs (regular sized) by casting, letting it sit for a full minute, giving it some very light twitches... if not hit by then, I'd do the pop retrieve. Had my biggest blowup on one when I was a kid.

I don't know what i gonna find because i read some local news and it said that the situation of the creek is not the best. I caught 1 of my biggest bass out of the creek last year on that tiny Rebel PopR. Using 6 lb test and a light action rod. It was a 2 1/2 lb large mouth. It put up a really good fight. 👊👍
In your video you show coming up to a what looks like a debris from an old fence and you step over it. Please be careful doing this. Several years ago I wadding back waters on the Tennessee River in north Alabama and in this particular area crappie were spawning in the blow downs on the bank so what I would do is catch several out of each tree and then walk back off the tree and move to the next one. During one of my moves, I was walking over some old limbs and a small rotten log and when I stepped over, a copper head was coiled up on the sunny side of the log and when I stepped over he tagged me. Luckily for me I was wearing snake boots and when he struck his fangs got hung in my boot. What I had to do was step on his body and then quickly snatched him off my boot. Unfortunately when I did that I ended up injuring him and had to out him down. What was shocking is so how well camouflaged he was. During the spring copperhead will come out and they love to rest on the sunny side of old rotten logs and brush. Please be careful when stepping over logs or brush on creek banks. Trust me you will not see them and this time of the year especially in the mornings they are cold and will NOT move when you get near them. Please be careful and if possible do not step over but rather walk around the brush pile or logs. It is amazing how well they blend in to the leaf piles in the woods. You will not see them.

That’s my property and I hunt morels. Unfortunately I have never ever found a single one there. I have to go other places to find them. I do however find a Lions Mane every now and then.
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

There certainly could have been some bigger fish in there that got spooked. I try to sneak up to the banks to make casts. Redbreast can get bigger but this is normal. They get bigger down south of here
Awesome. Where I'm from, I target 'murray cod', 'golden perch/yellow belly', 'trout cod' and redfin. But redfin are considered a pest here as they are an introduced species (but good eating). You should check out some of the species in Australia. The Murray cod can grow bloody big.
I wish I could post pictures to show you some of my catches. Oh, check out the 'Murray crayfish'. I've caught some monsters, from the tips of your fingers to your elbow joint.
So with the popper, you are working it too fast. Cast it. Let the ripples disappear and then pop it one or two times and then pause. They hit it on the pause. Use a mini hula popper and you'll get a ton of bass

First time I watched a video of yours the creek was about 7 feet wide, loved it then love it even more.
They make several colours the tan and dark green work amazing...the mini crayfish is a must-have.....

I’ve heard the best way to fish those mini helgramites is deep and try to make it look like a helgramite swimming between points of cover
Try slowing down your retrieve on the Pop R. Use longer pauses on the retrieve. Take your time and enjoy the ride.

I believe it depends on the law in your state.
I believe that if it is "navigable" you can wade it.
You must be below the high water line., so being far on the bank like that, and not "in" the creek is considered trespassing in most states.
