Hey I’m 11 years old and recently got into fishing I have a little stream behind my house that leads into a pond and I catch all kinds of fish. Giant creek chub. And tiny bass and huge blue gill. And I love fishing so much cause it’s so calming and you can just listen to the current. Thank you for these videos:). Road to 100k :):)
Watching your Creek fishing adventures made me want to hit the creeks. Long story short I caught my PB in a small Creek yesterday 😂👌. 5 lb bass. Never would of even thought to fish a small Creek for bass until I came across your videos👍👍👍
I've been watching your channel for a while now and I absolutely love your content! Keep up the great work!! I'm 60 yrs old and still learning stuff thanks my friend!!!!
I know this is an old video and I’ve seen a trillion of your videos since. But I love videos like this because it shows what an accessible hobby fishing is. So many other hobbies require a lot of money to either do or get equipment for. Fishing is one of those things you can do even if you’re broke - and can even put food on the table.
I have to say that after watching your videos (and Richard Genes) that it gave me the “itch” to go fish. So I went toWalmart and bought 2 new ultra light poles and some jigs. Went to the creek today and caught me some bass! My biggest one was a largemouth 3 pounder but I was thrilled! Thanks for making videos!
Great vid! My sort of stream. Your opening, though .... That is just about the best example of how a fisherman can experience what a fish goes through when those same lures are presented! 😁 I get such a kick out of that thought! Oh, yeah-- the bonus is that you had a great time working hard and we had a great time riding along. Thanks for a great ride! D. Ash at Calmwood Creations
Back at it again you thee best youtuber bar none your videos keep busy man your the best all week you bring the fire exciting videos you keep up the good video thank you godbless brother
Can't say it enough , love fishin like this . Get yourself a decent little ultralight combo and a handful of lure . Tons of fun for not much money ! Great video , as usual .
Rooster Tail's gotta be the best go-to lure for small ponds/lakes and creeks. That thing slays everything in its path. I like Panther Martins as well but there's something about that rooster. The fish around my area really go crazy for the white one.
Creek fishing is so overlooked, you don't need a boat and trailer, or a truck for that matter. Just a small rod and reel, and a handful of small fishing lures and you can have a great afternoon catching and releasing small fish. Creeks are also under the cover of trees; combine that with the fact that you can typically throw on some water shoes and keep yourself cool by wading through the clear water and it's a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon.
The Beetle Spin is one of those classic lures like the original Rapala. Its timeless. I would recommend, based of much use, the original split tail black with yellow stripes. Always did the best with those compared to the white with red dot.
I started watching your channel when you announced you were quitting your day job. You have my favorite fishing videos on UA-cam. I'm from the SWVA/NE TN area and it's awesome to see local spots on here. Keep doing your thing man. God bless.
Dude! I just discovered your channel! The kind of fishing you do is what I grew up in and is my favorite kind of fishing here in middle TN. Thanks for a great channel and for putting the fun back in fishing!
If you ever have to just choose one lure to use to catch some fish of any size at all then you should choose a Rooster Tail. A close 2nd is a curly-tail grub. Choose the size of each for what you want to catch. You never know what species you'll reel in on either of those. Happy fishing!
Love your videos and really appreciate how you enjoy even the tiny fish as I am the same way and I personally prefer all varieties of pan fish over anything else!
Love Beetle Spins for kids. They are nice and simple, cast and reel till a fish bites it. My stepson got a nice brown trout on one last year. They do not twist your line like a rooster tail does.
I like your content! Keep it up! Also, if you want some wild, try creek fishing in south Florida. Some days you catch some bluegill, crappie, Bass.... little further down and it’s redfish, snook, tarpon, gators and baby sharks. One of my first catches was a baby gator that chewed on my bobber and wouldn’t let go as I reeled it in.
I went to east tennessee and i read your comment reply and i caught my first smallmouth on a hellgramite a " Mr. Crappie was also good . If you ever go to east Tennessee again here is where i went Barnett Bridge near wartburg tn Lilly Bridge Jett Bridge All of which are in the same creek. Clear Creek.
Great Job on this video John... I am itching to go fishing after watching all the videos this week. Looks like I will be heading out to fish in the am.
The beetle spin you chose, white with the red spot, is deadly on redbreast in the blackwater creeks and rivers here the South Carolina low country! Great video!
I love your videos! I've been to Wal Mart several times getting lures I see you using. I've been bank fishing all my life. I really enjoy watching your luck and can't wait to get back out there.
Brother, you had A LOT to choose from at that Walmart, we’re absolutely bare. I love beetle spins, I actually add the spinner to random baits like a rooster tail or even swim baits, having the two spinners really helps on the larger fish while still catching the little fellas and I think your hub cap was a Ford. Farmont, pinto, or even the goofey mid to late 70s Mustang. Once again, very cool area, great video.
Great video, John! The Beetle Spin is my go-to lure for creek fishing. I have honestly not used the crick-hopper just yet. I love these micro fishing videos. Keep them coming, sir. Nice job!
You do a great job making me want to go fish. I enjoy all your videos. The crick hopper is not one of my favorite lures, just never had any luck with them. Same with rooster tails. But obviously you know how and where to fish them. Any time any where.!
Great vid and info! A lot of people could use this and maybe I couldn't find so many huge birds nests of 20lb line and essentially saltwater tackle up in small mountain trout streams...Great rod setup too! Very similar to what I use for general purpose UL fishing!
Nice video! I’ve been recently catching some 2-3 pounders out of the harpeth River in Bellevue. Got any tips for fall fishing? I never Bass fish in the fall
Leslie Tincher I fished last fall and winter for the first time, use darker colored lures and retrieve real, real slow. Fish are very sluggish and non aggressive. Slow down even more if not catching anything.
I use beetle spins all of the time in the little creek that I fish in and I can catch 20 or more on a beetle spins, and a lot on the cricket hoper poper too
Nice picks on those lures for sure. That's how you stretch the budget, AND get loads of fish at the same time. I would definitely have picked up some curly tail grubs tho. Always a winner for me. The crickhopper is a must, but I also really love the small crawdad version. I really wish I could find the black cricket version of the crickhopper, buy I've never seen it anywhere..😭 Awesome video as always man! 👍👍 Stay safe out there!
Every kid who is starting to fish needs to see this video!! It's amazing how far 10 dollars can go to catch fish. I have hundreds of dollars worth of gear but can still grab a zebco and worms and catch fish.
My local walmarts are blown out of fishing gear. Weights have been out for 2 months. They told me alot of shipping is back up from china and their ordering system got messed up after the pandemic. Im glad i stocked up last winter. So i hit Dicks and sportmens warehouse. Same thing out of everything. Cabelas was expensive but had some decent instock.
No joke on the Trout Magnet, I've switched to tying that on for my kids and they catch dozens of fish in our ponds and lakes. I was surprised bass will even hit it. I'm not sure we've ever been skunked using one. Think you picked the classics there, I've used all these in the vid with varying success. 👍
I took my kayak to a creek about 3 weeks ago and caught a ton of fish. Most of them were caught on the Bobby Garland baby shad. I think it was the blue ice color. I caught some balck crappie, largemouth, smallmouth, rockbass, and channel catfish all on that lure. The sad thing is I had a full backpack of fishing lures lol . I guess they just wanted that small profile. 👊👍

I'm surprised you don't use beetlespin much. I use them a lot, they're the most successful for me. I even caught a 6 pound bowfin on a 1/32oz beetlespin. I've caught a 5 pound one too with the same lure.
You have the most amazing creeks with such clear water. Awesome. Here's a verse for you that I found today while studying. Isaiah 41:18. It seems to go along with your fishing videos. Happy fishing.
4:15. Buying lures is like going grocery shopping when you are hungry. You want to buy up everything.
thats a good analogy

That Walmart has a way better selection of lures than my local Walmart.
Mine too.

Same here in Texas, especially now that covid everyone is fishing.
In Louisiana its not just what is left, its the selection overall.
