Magnus Ver Magnusson, such a legend and a huge heart. He never had a coach, and in this tournament, he didn't even have any supporters! Wow. A true tough lone warrior, just goes out and does his thing for himself! It takes extra heart and motivation to do it alone. Respect!
Gary Taylor never gets the recognition he deserves for his win in 1993. When you look back at the 90’s strongman he never gets a mention. His strength numbers were up there with the best and he was unmatched overhead in traditional lifts. If he could have got the hang of the “strongman events” a bit better he would of pushed Magnus I reckon.
Great to see this again for the first time in almost 3 decades. Remember it so well watching as a teenager and being inspired to train hard! Was just missing the trophy presentation at the end, but can't complain!
There was like 3 injuries on the event you push it each other with the log. I can think of at least one reason they don't do that anymore. Thanks for the upload
In the early 90s people accepted that shit happened and sometimes people died. We didn't feel the need to make grandiose gestures at every turn. Jon-Pall has since been inducted into the World's Strongest Man Hall of Fame. So there's the tribute.
Most of those events have been discontinued because they were too dangerous or else they were not really good tests of strength. Interesting how the sport has evolved to standard events.
@@gerlofholkema3110 It would be good if they came up with some new ones, I suppose. I like the static events, as in the Arnold, because strength is impressive. One thing they used to do but you never see anymore is lift vehicles or platforms with people on them as Louis Cyr did. Arm wrestling, bar bending and sumo type events are probably not wise and best discontinued. Fortissimus had some original and very hardcore events I've not seen before or since.

He had a great winning instinct and will. A champion at heart.
One of my favorite years. Good show.
My favorite too!

Good on you Gary 🎉
2 of the best competitors to have never won a title Riku Kiri and Gerrit Badenhorst
Makes me sad Badenhorst never won

The events were better back in the day
Nope

Yep it’s boring now
More entertaining but not true tests of strength; plus they were dangerous.

You'd think they'd learn, but they brought it back the next year and more injuries!
The bar bend and tug of rope are two others they discontinued, probably for the best.
Takes me back to the late 1990s when I was in highschool and discovered this amazing contest on ESPN2
This one needs more views!!!
I wish we could have some of the old "novelty" events back. Remember the boat pull and holding up of axes etc?
Yep, allways the same events 😞
AMAZING 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
21:00 Nervous looking passengers.
23:24 Passengers disembark before it crashes against the pillar.😄
Makes me sad Jon Pall Sigmarsson died and they didn't even mention his name or do any kind of tribute :(
The owners of this TV show have ultimate control and have made many disgusting decisions over the years.
Paul Dickenson did mention his passing, but there should have been more.

They did mention him once in this but no tribute, that's true.
Manfred should have won at least one WSM.
His lactic acid buildup went against him, as we heard.
