Hey! I just graduated this year and they are INCREDIBLE. Also, the blades at the end of their weapons are called bayonets, and we’re historically used on the front lines of a battle to allow soldiers to be effective in the case of close quarters combat. This means if they were no longer at a distance to be able to fire at the enemy, they still had a blade on the end of the weapon to keep them safe. Also, the way they lay their hands flat on the rifle is reflecting inspection of their weapons, which happened when they were trained.
By Nm It may seem that way without the introduction by the announcer, but the USAF Honor Guard team encourages cheering to show the concentration and discipline of its members.
What they neglect to tell you is that the Marine silent drill team, besides drilling without sound, they drill with 11 pound M-1 rifles and 1 pound fixed bayonets, while every other drill team drills with dummy Springfield rifles designed for their lightness and balance. The M-1 on the other hand was designed to kill and is a real working weapon. The Springfields weigh a couple of pounds and are balanced to be spun. The M-1 isn’t and is much more difficult and dangerous to drill with.
Wow! Such a beautiful performance. The crowd in my opinion is disrespectful to the "Silent" Drill Team. Way too much hootin' and howling from them. It is awesome what the men are doing. People should learn how to respect those who are performing until they have finished. Then all of the cheering can be done. The men deserve respect while they are doing their routine. i noticed that Airforce encourages cheering from crowds while Marines don't. And airforce got those sharp things. But anyway, their (airforce & marines) focus, concentration, confidence are awesome.
feminie love the Air Force doesn’t encourage cheering. The crowd is distracting and when I was doing competition drill they always instructed the crowd to save their cheers until the end of the performance
Civil Engineer Structural Tecnician, my duty. Precision Drill Honor Guard member, my honor. I can't express how I felt to be a member of this elite unit. Some of my favorite Air Force memories were had, performing with these incredible men and being a part of this prestigious organization. "Queen Anne salute".
As a retired Army guy I am impressed and proud of these Airmen! I do not find the cheering on as disrespectful at all. As a matter of fact, they are not at a tomb or some solemn veterans location. They are out in public showing off, proudly, I might add. And as mentioned, it's their colleagues that are cheering them on. They are kickin ass in their own way and their colleagues are confirming it
Thank you for sharing!!! I was lucky enough to be a part of our base Honor Guard. George AFB, Ca., '85 - '86 i think, if I recall correctly. Some good times with good people. We did these drills too. I wasn't as sharp as these airmen though. Definitely paid the price playing with those real bayonets on hard wood rifles. What were they M-1's? Thanks again!!! Brings back some memories.
those are mostly fellow soldiers. they are offering enthusiasm & encouragement. now i hate when i go to a concert & everyone in the audience feels they have to sing along.
This brings back memories of my high school years in the ROTC . This is precision at its best. The haters will never understand the time, effort and hours of practice it takes to be this good.awesome and amazing.❤️❤️
We Americans come from all different backgrounds and at the end of the day the commonality we share of being Americans must never be forgotten!!! Thank you to all the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our great country! God Speed!
no other branch of the military can even come close to the usmc silent drill platoon. they're all good, every branch, but the corps' are just the best.
cruiser I tend to disagree. After watching both teams, there are things I noticed. For one you'll notice on the Silent Drill Platoon, the rifles that are tossed for inspection about 2/3 of the way through their standard ceremony card have no bayonets affixed. They are removed to mitigate danger to the Marines on the line. Air Force never removes bayonets, even when doing unders/overs or doubles. The most complicated maneuver I've seen the Silent Drill Platoon do with a fixed bayonet is a flat order, or something akin to it. The other thing that inclines me toward the USAF team is that before all ceremonies, the announcer for the Silent Platoon requests that there be no flash photography during the ceremony, for the sake of not causing one of the performers to lose visual acuity for any period of time. Before a USAF preformance, the announcer encourages flash photography and intentionally instructs the crowd to yell and cheer as loud as they can. In his words: "You will NOT break their concentration." Don't get me wrong, the Silent Platoon is imcredible, but the sheer bravado the USAF team displays, along with a perfectly matched amount of technical skill, has me putting the Silent Platoon as a close second.

had the honor of seeing them perform at my High School this year, it was truly a once in a Lifetime opportunity for me, and I strive to join the Air Force Honor Guard. With my experience in my School's AFJROTC program I am sure to be able to do this.
Wow. I never saw an Air Force Drill Team. Excellent.
Men in uniform...lawd have mercy....its hot in here...💪💪💪THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SOLDIERS.
Sidnee Bryant || soldiers are US Army I think, but I get your point. 100% agree!
Sidnee Bryant it’s better to say Troops instead of Soldiers.
Pass out ap
angeto bellerice they have discipline like soldiers
And I thought my hand to eye coordination was on top motoring skills overload
Sad to see such small crowd. One must always carry soldiers in their hearts
i noticed that Airforce encourages cheering from crowds while Marines don't.

Air Force needs a better service dress uniform. It looks too much like a Delta airline pilot suit.
Ninja k Agreed, our dress blues kinda suck.
True. Served in the AF and never liked our dress uniform.
Agreed. Bring back the one's prior to this, that would be good (AF RES 5 year here).
because , dummy ... if they are lucky, they can get a decent job with all their flight hours.......
How about a spiffy black get-up more like the Marines, but with blue pants instead of white?
As a retired Army guy I am impressed and proud of these Airmen! I do not find the cheering on as disrespectful at all. As a matter of fact, they are not at a tomb or some solemn veterans location. They are out in public showing off, proudly, I might add. And as mentioned, it's their colleagues that are cheering them on. They are kickin ass in their own way and their colleagues are confirming it

Hello how are you doing.I saw your comment and I decide to stop by and say hi
*God bless the U.S. Air Force.*
Thank you for your service.
Should be the top comment
The Air Force was my dads ticket out of the coal mines. He loved it and his years of service
I love honor guards from anywhere. Air Force is definitely one of the best.
I love how you can hear the other soldiers in the background, obviously the most enthusiastic about the performance.
Thank you for posting a valuable video. I feel a very brave atmosphere.
I love my brothers it doesn't matter what branch your in we are all brothers please people understand that
So snappy! Salute to all soldiers around the world 👍👏✊💪
This is my rifle this is my gun , this is for fighting and this is for fun
I fear such hysteric crowd might break the concentration of the Airmen.....

Did I ever call it a cartoon? If you didn't like the comment, you could of replied without calling me a "stupid ass".
Amazing but why do Americans have to screech and yell all the time?
those are mostly fellow soldiers. they are offering enthusiasm & encouragement. now i hate when i go to a concert & everyone in the audience feels they have to sing along.
s mast Why do you think at concerts songs have parts, where the lyrics are gone and the artist encourages the audience to sing along?
Esprit De Corps
Why not? Showing that kind of support mean the world to the airmen.
cause this is #murica
The fact that they're all in insync
God bless America. This is lovely
God Speed!
From a Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, Outstanding Presentation, Honor Guard! Your precision takes hours of dedicated practice. Bravo Zulu!
Such a great performance. ...
They has a very good handling of their weapons.Their silence shows the discipline of a force.
Love from INDIA😘🙏❤
Okay, I'm going to catch hell for this, but they give the USMC silent drill platoon a run for their money. Damn good work.
no other branch of the military can even come close to the usmc silent drill platoon. they're all good, every branch, but the corps' are just the best.
cruiser
I tend to disagree.
In his words: "You will NOT break their concentration."
Don't get me wrong, the Silent Platoon is imcredible, but the sheer bravado the USAF team displays, along with a perfectly matched amount of technical skill, has me putting the Silent Platoon as a close second.
A few years back they had a competition among the Armed Services drill teams in DC. USAF Honor Guards did beat the USMC silent drill platoon.
USMC. Copycats
The best
My son is in the honor guard. 22 and my hero. Couldn’t be prouder.
Gentlemen, you do the Air Force Proud!
They are just as good as the silent drill team of the Marine corps hoorah hoorah
This like cheerleading, but it’s all stoic and cooler.
i would fail so hard!! i give them so much respect 💯
Damn good with the sound off.

Their precision and discipline are exemplary. Outstanding! They deserved to be cheered loud and clear.
Military drill is the most beautiful and honoured dance.
This is awesome! First time I have seen this. They should show 'em more often.
