@@antoniobridgeforth2362 you'll love it. I still use mine.
$140 and $420 for shipping to Australia 😂
Another great video. The next step in the process. Almost there! Brutus helping with the fert!
The little monster is always helping with the fert....🤣😂
Really looking forward to seeing how the seed works. All that hard work will soon be paying off.
Me too! Thanks bud.
That is very cool that the label for the seed shows that it was grown and harvested in the northwest!
It should be right at home in your yard.
Exactly what I was thinking..
Looks good. Sounds like it will be a fun project.
The Lawn Shark thanks Dino. 👊🏻
New subscriber to your channel and I'm planning on detaching and overseeding my lawn as well for the for time.
It's really not a complicated process. You'll see a noticeable difference relatively quickly. 👍🏻
I'm doing this now. Only 2,500 square foot area of my yard. Glyphosate applied 3x and it's 99% crispy dead. I've found that a blower works pretty darn well if you go close to the ground in order to get rid of anything loose. The trimmer does work well.
I actually did it again about 10 days ago. The trimmer works great but takes a while.. lol
Love your dog!
He's pretty fun to have around 😁
I am a new subscriber to your channel. I appreciate the content
Thanks
10/10 for the cutest puppy ever! 😍
He is adorable ain't he? 😁
Dang that was a lot of work but it's all going to pay off big time! Your dog is adorable. Growing up we had a dog that was half english bulldog and half boston terrior. He was an awesome dog. Great video!
Thanks Ben!👊
I like the string trimmer idea! Great work.
It took some time but it worked out well.
Pacific Northwest Lawns I’m going to do it. Clean up starts this week followed by bringing in 8 cubic yards of screened sandy loam. 💪 Getting a real final grade up in my lawn!
Good idea with the trimmer. I’ll have to try that. Mine is completely dead since it was all weeds and everything other than grass
It works pretty well
Cant wait to see how that seed looks after growing in
Me either. I'm very excited to see what happens. 👊
What a wonderful boy you got.........seems very attached with you. Their presence helps landscaping more fun.
He definitely enjoys his yard and hanging out. 😁
Hi from Indiana. Thank u for this video. I am doing the same on an area 1000 sf. I was thinking the same thing, how to get up the rest of the dead grass. Gunna do the same! Thank you.
Where about in Indiana. Im in NWI.
Using the weed eater worked well. Personally after one pass I would have been going to the rental store looking for manly thatching machine to beat it up but the weed eater really was a great idea. Looking forward seeing the results of this seed looks interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sure a commercial grade thatching machine would work better I wasn't going to fork over more money to rent one when I already have the SunJoe.
Love the rake, is in the wish list!
It's the Grounds Keeper 2. I love it. I'll do a video on it one day after I've used it some more.
Pacific Northwest Lawns 👍
It is a very good rake.
Love the video, time and thought you’ve put into your yard. I Reno’d my 6k yard two years ago and you covered a lot Of info I wish I would have thought of / taken the time to do.
With the Sunjoe did you use the scarifier or the thatcher cylinder?
I actually used both because I wanted to get as much stuff up as possible.
I also live in Vancouver, Wa and buy my seed locally in Portland at Protime Lawn Seed. They are great, super helpful. I also like their mulching straw product better than my old standby of using Peat Moss. Its also sterile with zero weed seeds.
I live just north of Vancouver but really close. I've heard of ProTime just never been over there. Regardless, I'd never put straw on my yard no matter what their claims about it are.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns - Next time you're in PDX, you should check them out.
My pet gerbil loves the rock and roll music you play.
I love to ask why you would have a pet gerbil but I honestly don't think I really want to know.. Tell him I said thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns He says "No worries man!"
Great video had to catch up with the community this morning. After the kids finished virtual learning I had to get to it on my project as well and film some content. That's really good your supporting a local business and interested how that will come out especially the color. Big box store seed ain't bad either depending on the mix, I have a section of the yard that has the Scott's KBG and it's been there for like 2 and a half years and the color is beautiful the durability is crazy with dog pee and not watering lol but I tried to kill it off with glyphosate because its KBG and Bermuda mix for about 3 years maybe more and it all came back twice the KBG lol the Bermuda wont go no where. Keep up the great work👍
Bermuda is an absolute pain to get rid of...
@@PacificNorthwestLawns yes it is and that's why I choose to keep the Bermuda nothing effects it. The KBG over seed in the back was a old experiment.
That dog wanted to play 😂
Brutus is always wanting to play 😁
Subscribed. Question- would a low depth till have worked once you got everything pretty low?
Personally I don't recommend tilling for a yard. It turns up weed seeds and can cause more headaches than it's worth. Plus it's going to settle over time and can make it more bumpy than before you started.
Just sprayed my first app of glyphosate yesterday. Plan on doing a second one next week. I don’t have a sun Joe. I have a detaching rake and will scalp the lawn as low as possible with my mower. I also plan on using my string trimmer like you did.
My lawn is only 1k sqft. I’m thinking of buying a some soil and sand mix just to get some fresh soil and level the yard. But I don’t really want to spend the money on that. Can I just aerate, throw some starter fert, humic 12, seed and some peat moss over what’s left of the dead grass?
I’m a novice and don’t even know how much soil to put down if I go that route. Last thing I need is to have my local nursery rip me off telling me I have to put down more than I need.
Yes, you certainly can do that.
Hey buddy how you been? Good seeing you working hard in the yard! 💛🌱💯👍
Been great.. Can't wait to see how yours is coming along.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns do u have an email or place to send pics? I can show you where im at with it right now

Looking good. Where’s your basket for the sun joe lol
Ppfftt.. in the garbage somewhere. Most useless thing ever.
Pacific Northwest Lawns for sure. Mine is gone as well. Best tool ever
What kind of grass do you recommend in full sun? Thank you!
That kinda depends on exactly where you live but any of the 3 cool season grasses do well in the sun.
Maybe I missed it, did you use the power rake/dethatcher or the scarifier attachment?
I actually used both. 😁
What method did you use to calculate your seed drop date? My N-EXT biostim pack is due to arrive Monday or Tuesday. Looks like I'll be cutting it close, time-wise. (Love your pup!)
You mean like a spreader setting or pounds per thousand sq ft?
@@PacificNorthwestLawns your scheduled date to plant the seed 2 weeks from now. Did you determine (historical)first frost and work backwards? Thanks for all your guidance.
@@1floon yep. Used the online farmers almanac. I have about a 10 day buffer. I plan on seeding sept 1 or 2nd.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns thanks!
I’ve been seeing that seed on IG. Looking forward to seeing how it works. P.S your dog is hilarious 😂
Brutus hates rakes, brooms, vacuums. He's goofy like that.
I applied glyphosate with blue dye for the first time a week ago.. ppl think I got a nice green grass lol... 5 days passed, but my grass is till green mmm.. it is taking a while.. maybe it was too cold. I applied again 3 days ago. I see only some area getting yellow. Patience patience ://///
Great contents, BTW!
Regular glyphosate does take time. The "Round Up" version has an additive that makes it act faster. You'll notice it at about the 10 day mark. It'll likely take 2 or even 3 applications depending on what you're using. The label should give some details on that.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns I am using Compare N Save (41% glyphosate), which I believe the same % as what you used :) would need 2-3 applications eh.. soil temp is getting up in the 50's soon. I hope I can get the nuking and seeding in time 😵💫 I couldnt apply sooner cuz of snow.
Im using 100% KBG, so Im hoping that the new grass will have enough time to get through the summer heat.
@@shion_lwn I've used that and it works great just takes a while. Good luck with the seeding. Keep your expectations realistic and remember you can always overseed in the fall.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns Thank you 😊🙂🙂
KBG sounds like some awesome grass, but I heard it doesn't do well in the PNW, so I'm excited to see how it works for you.
These particular cultivars are grown here in the PNW. I'm excited to see exactly how they do.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns awesome, I hope it works great, I want KBG in my yard too
@@PacificNorthwestLawns where can you buy the KBG seed or sod? We live just outside Portland in Camas, WA and need to do plant some grass this spring. Thanks!
@@jegrand there's a link in the video description. I don't think it's currently available but should be in the spring. I can reach out to MySoil and ask if you're interested. I'm just over in Battle Ground. Maybe in the spring you can swing by and see it yourself if you want to.
I’m here-kids virtual learning had me occupied 🤦♂️😂
AY YN you’re late bud...
Pacific Northwest Lawns I am 😩😂😂
Agree
I am in washington as well and planning a complete renovation . I would like to get some idea from u
Like what?
@@PacificNorthwestLawns i have clay based soil and have a few shaded areas . I am not sure whether I should kill the entire lawn and start over or work on the existing turf .
@@parthasarma9157 most of the state has clay based soil. Mostly silty clay. Killing off the existing turf isn't going to change that. If it's a mostly shaded area look for a fine fescue seed. It does well in shaded areas.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns as my last owner did not do much on the lawn, I gave my 100 percent last spring and got some good results ,but it's still not at par for my liking. I am considering doing a complete renovation ,killing all the grass ,adding compost and tilling it in ,spray pre-emergent app of tenacity and reseed with prg and ff mix. But i just don't have the guts to kill my existing lawn . Can you help me with the considerations i should analyze before going with my full renovation plan ?
That's pretty simple. If there's at least 40% grass there, you can fix it. It just takes time. It's really difficult to guide you one way or another without knowing your exact circumstances.
I'm confused. Is KBG good for PNW? I am looking to putting a new lawn with KBG or a blend with PRG. What are your thoughts?
West of the Cascades it struggles a little bit it but can be used. East of the cascades it thrives.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns Thanks. What thrives better then? I'm in the Portland area, I believe that should be west.
@@greentekmysyntek3729 I'm just north of you in Clark County. PRG or TTTF do the best west of the cascades.
@@PacificNorthwestLawns Thanks
👏👏👏
Thanks Marc👊
Do you think a sod cutter would have been quicker? It was cost a little more for the rental and disposal but would save a lot of time.
I don't really think it would be a whole lot quicker but definitely more expensive. I'm actually considering using a sod cutter next year to renovate the front yard. Kinda depends on the disposal fees. Sod isn't exactly light.
I did removed about 1200 sq ft of sod last year with a sod cutter, and rented a construction dumpster to get rid of it. It cost about $100 to rent the cutter from Home Depot, and about $300 for the dumpster from Waste Connections. You can fill half way, about 8 yards of material. I removed a lot of soil with the sod as I wanted to bring in more, better soil and 8 yards was enough. Took me about few hours to cut it, the easy part, but hauling it in the dumpster is a lot of work. However, it really gives a clean slate to work with, and the project turned out great!
YES 1000000%. I did this with a sod cutter and it’s an amazing machine works sooo well
Hm... Maybe I need to do a renovation......
Why not?
@@PacificNorthwestLawns all depends on if I can get the seed I want. I will still be doing some overseeding.
Why not just till all the dead grass under?
It's grass, not crop. You don't till a lawn if you don't absolutely have to for two main reasons. 1. Tilled soil takes many weeks to settle. It will create an uneven surface very quickly. 2. You'll be turning up so many dormant weed seeds it becomes an absolutely nightmare.
