- Stunt Rider vs Event Rider
It's episode two of vlogmas, and this time I'm breaking boundaries and swapping roles with the incredible stunt rider, Freddy Steel! Join me on this daring (or stupid) escapade as we challenge each other to swap our equestrian disciplines. We build on my lessons from earlier in the year with Freddy where I learnt how to fall off, by the end I was trying my hardest not to use this new found skill as I rear a horse bareback!!!
As the adrenaline subsides, Freddy, never one to back down, takes a leap out of his comfort zone and attempts jumping for the first time since his pony club days. The burning question remains: who will face the ultimate forfeit at the video's conclusion?
Strap in for an equestrian adventure like no other, where Vlogmas magic meets the thrill of stunt and event riding. The stakes are high, and the entertainment is guaranteed. Hit play to find out who emerges victorious in this exhilarating showdown! 🎥🐴

“CALM YOURSELF!” - one of my most used phrases as an equestrian professional - there is not a single situation it’s not relevant, being it horse or rider 😂
😂😂😂
I love the dynamic between Meg and Freddy! They're hilarious.
I love how meg doesnt hide her fear at all and really shows its ok to be unsure! Riding is fantastic but dangerous and i love how she sugarcoats Nothing ❤
Wimp for life ✌🏻
@@elphick.event.ponies same meg 💅
@@elphick.event.ponieswe all are dont you worry 😂😂
@@elphick.event.ponies🤦♂️

“They want Freddy doing it bareback” - CONTEXT is very important here 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dying 😂
I really liked how Freddy's jumping challenge was really about "how do we teach the horse to answer this question". Was lovely seeing his horse get it within the one session.
Those rears were amazing Meg! Wow! I thought you did brilliantly. I loved every minute of this vlogmas episode! And Freddy jumps like a pro! He has a great, relaxed attitude. Loved the banter! Stunning horses! 😍 I give this vlogmas 10/10😊👍
Meg and Freddy, the best duo!! So funny, love it
People need to watch this to see relationship between Freddy and Meg, you can total see how much Freddy pushes her comfort zone - which works! But now I understand the Bear jumping much better now ❤ thanks for always sharing Meg ❤ I love your vlogs!
Every time he looked behind him I worried, loved your riding Meg! The rears were impressive and those horses are so amazing
Absolutely love this! Freddy pushes you out of your comfort zone, but is so positive about it. Well done Meg 😀 xx
Love his singing… helps keeps him relaxed and in a rhythm…. 👏👏
We need a full version of Freddy’s song he was singing 😂
Loved it so much! You were really brave to try everything! That bareback rear was epic!!!!
Please take Freddie along to a 5* for a jump lesson on their horses!! That would be epic!! Also we need a swipe up kick on for all 4 of the usual gang to choose a rider from a different discipline to compete as pairs!!
Really enjoyed watching. Even Hubby watched this with me and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had such a laugh at times. Adore the Lusitano!
So proud of you meg truly as much as every inch of you was screaming no you pushed forward and that says so much of your growth
It's so great how you went from sh*tting yourself just getting on the mock horse to getting on and throwing yourself off it regularly without question 👍
Oh my gosh, this was the most fun video! I loved it. And Freddy is so cute and so much fun!
This one had me actually giggling Meg! You're both hilarious 😂
OH my Gosh that was extremely cool to watch!!! Congrats for over coming many fears! What a opportunity !
Loving this last time I tried valunting (with help) I went up and over the top of the horse and ended up on the ground the other side.
Hi meg I addmeryou for having a go at stunt ridding. I remember this esme having a go .And have you ever tryed side saddle? That may be good for vlogmas. From sue in coventry. 😃😃😃👍👍👍💟
“how about that for a corner? how about this for a corner?” had me dying laughing 😂
eeee i’m so excited to watch this!! i love your videos meg!!!!
Well done both of you again Freddie is so funny, but talented. Those horses were stunning.
I love Freddie's sarcasm. You did well Meghan.
Such a fun, interesting video. I have enjoyed all of your videos. You are absolutely precious. You are lovely young lady, kind and caring
Love this, so funny and Lov how feddie was singing to cover nerves 😂😂
Not just to “cover nerves”. Singing helps you keep your canter in the same rhythm on the approach to a jump. Helps to eliminate last minute “blast-offs” or conversely last minute pulling to a jump. It acts as a metronome, and is very helpful to tell if you’re maintaining the rhythm and pace you need (since horses don’t have speedometers). It also helps the rider relax by forcing them to breathe correctly (no forgetting to breathe bc you’re nervous), and gives your mind something else to focus on other than hyper-fixating on the height of the jump or worrying about getting the correct distance for take-off. I’ve been riding and jumping for almost 30 years now (great, now I feel old!), and I still often use this method. I do it a lot at competitions, bc singing or quietly counting your strides aloud does help you keep a steady pace and rhythm, and does help to ease competition nerves. I just sing or count strides more quietly 😂
This was hilarious from start to finish!! 😂❤
It is so interesting to learn a bit about horsey show biz!!
Hilarious - if nothing else you now know where your elbow is Meg!! Thanks for the giggles!!
love a long video
WHAT a vlog!!!! Very well done to all involved! What's the news with Jam btw?
Love these flogs..well done both of you ❤❤
That was a really good video. Really fun guy's. 😀🤩❤️👍
Nice work meg
Pine Lodge is my very local yard close to mine, High Ash Farm, we hack there all the time for lessons !!
These guys would end up in the emergency sooner or later
delightful!
Third ❤😂
Wow, how high did you go, amazing ❤
He’s such a good jumper, but his lower leg was killing me ( not hate )
I live in Norfolk!!
I love him ❤ Soo handsome ❤
So earyyy
He put your talent score at 8 I thought, not 7.5? 😊 Sooooo close
What, no scores for Peter???
first
This was so good , made be proper titter !you two were funny together thoroughly enjoyed it too , thanks Meg xxx
Freddys excitement on the massive rear is so funny 😂 he just couldnt help himself. Only one point between you ! Think it should have been a tie personally 😉
As do I, I’m sure he’ll go and eat a treat over on Instagram 😂
Working harder than 🎅 this December 👏😍
Need myself a Rudolph 😂
This was so enjoyable on so many levels. Freddy’s obviously got an incredible feel for a horse. And the stallion was so wonderful. You could just see him thinking and working it all out. He was phenomenal. What a tuck!
Loving vlogmas so far! This one was ridiculously entertaining but loved how much I learnt from Simon and Winnie in the first one 👌
Yay, glad you’re enjoying them 😍
I love Freddy’s attitude and how he teaches! He has a great personality and I loved to see his energy and excitement when Meg succeeded and the horses does a great job.
The fact that he could see how capable Meg is and helped her work through her fears shows what a good person he is.
His humor is definitely great and I loved to see him and Meg’s chemistry together.
"Erm...Freddy im beached!"...🤣🤣🤣 had me in stiches, awesome video, well done everyone. How Pete remained composed whilst filming was very professional, great team.
I love your intro with your dressage coach 🤣 adds such a nice touch your video meg!
"YOU HIT ME!" "Yeah but it was realistic 😊" I can't with y'all 😂
Glad we got to see Freddi again! Such an entertaining episode ❤ Funny banter, very relaxing to watch. And the two point five horses were so amazing 🤎🤍🤍
“It’s acting darling”, I love Freddy 😂
FLIRT FACTOR is high!!! 🐎
Friendly interactions between men and women are not inherently flirtatious. What you saw what friendship, not flirting.
@@annaabney1420 I don't remember saying they were inherently flirtatious and of course you'd know what I saw better than me.
Freddy nailed the jumping, love how he gets Meg to push her comfort zone too!
i need freddy to train me 🤣he’s so brutally honest 🤣
Great, fun vlog. Love the banter between you two. Freddy is a very talented guy. I think he could ride almost anything. He has soft hands and a very relaxed manner. Lots of fun guys.
The big bareback rear has easily made this my favorite vlogmas episode
That was brilliant
Horses are magnificent creatures and I think it shows most when they rear and kick their fore legs.
Yep except when your on them when that happens 😂@@tonysansom
LOVE Freddy's singing to calm both horse & rider🙌🏼
I don’t know why, but it feels so refreshing to have someone admit that they’re scared but still tries it but does not overstep your own boundaries
Can you please do a video on basic tips for beginners? 🥰
Meg you are the best person in the world I look up to you soo much you are a really inspiring equestrian
I've never struggled so hard to finish my 10k on the treadmill, the two of you had me wheezing from laughter 😂 waiting to watch this wasn't an option once I saw who was featured. This was a solid gold episode! Well done!
Edit: and what a beautiful horses! A real treat to see two Lusitano's love the breed
Ahhh love this, hope you managed to finish the 10k 😘😂
@elphick.event.ponies I did and it was way more fun than usual thanks to vlogmas! Thank you for the good times!
Meg, I loved every minute of this. What kept going through the back of my mind was, "I wonder how many days it will take until Meg's not sore any more." My muscles were cringing, watching yours! lol. Seriously though, this was a great vlog. Fun, educational, gave us a little peek into the world of horses in movie-making. I also loved the banter between you, and seeing Freddy's stunts... and how he was more gleeful than you, over that last epic rear you rode. I wish you could feel your capability as clearly as all of these pros you work with do. "Just do what the coach says. They're not going to send you into trouble (paraphrased maybe). Words of wisdom. Thanks Freddy, thank you Meg, and the whole team.
Brilliant everyone. Stunning horses, the last rear was epic Meg x
“It’s acting darling” I would’ve passed out 😅
😂😂😂
I absolutely love riding dares, and even better with Freddy!
Freddy is very good at walking and trotting backwards, is that a skill that’s needed as well in stunts? 😂
Only halfway through but loving it so far!!
Thought so too!
Not sure with stunts but it is for the type of dressage and working equitation that Iberian horses do. They have incredible power and agility.
What a cool guy
He can ride
You did great too
Thanks so much!
Meg, your vlogs are incredible! Great concepts, wonderful rapport with guest, fantastic camera work. Really a pleasure to watch.
As a stunt rider myself, I know the pain face that Meg did very well😂😂
such a brilliant video! i love trick riding and Meg you were really brave. Freddy's personality and attitude are wonderful as well. would love a teacher like him if i ever dared to do this.
Knowing freedy personally, theres very little he fears😂 the guy seeps confidence! You both generally looked great! Jumping into eachothers worlds
Me watching Meg training to be an extra: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 *wheeze* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 *wheeze* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Am I the only one who realized that technically they tied. Seen as Freddy originally said 8 for raw talent but then at the end said 7. Meaning that it was a tie😂. Loved this vlog though, so funny❤
How far you have come Meg, from your "meltdown" at Lucindas. Your confidence is amazing. You're willingness to try anything, I'm so happy for you.
Love that he's voice trained
‘Your not meant to swear,’ Wise words
He didn’t listen 😂
@@elphick.event.ponies Think it was you swearing 🤣🤣🤣
@@elphick.event.ponies and you.Naughty Meg.👍
" Your not meant to swear "
" Oh " 😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed this so much! The sibling energy between these two is top notch ❤
Still at the pommel training bit of the video, and I just love your dynamic with Freddie. You guys get at each other like siblings, and it's so funny to watch xD Your collabs with him are definitely my favorite!
I’m dying laughing. Seriously I have tears. Thanks Meg. That was great entertainment 😂
I think we tend to be abit cavalier about stunts especially when working with horses, I remember when Roy Kinear died on a film set after falling off a horse, especially after watching the documentary about the stunt person who was injured while practicing on the Harry Potter set. Everyone who rides needs to learn how to fall..... ❤️💜
Love how Freddy is pushing you out of comfort and you being so brave. After getting through you were a lot more comfortable and confidential ❤
Brilliant - had me giggling. Lovely lovely lusos, too! Adore a baroque horse.
This was such a great video! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Meg you did fantastic! Freddy is an awesome teacher and was hilarious 😂
God I just love the Iberian horses. What a beautiful pair of Lusitanos. That stallion is simply lovely. What a good, willing, honest boy! And I'm so envious that you got to sit a trained rear.
A lusitano isn't a breed I've ever normally seen in a jumping ring. I mean you see them in dressage all the time. But normally there not a breed you see jumping. Jumping you see Thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Horses with longer legs and leaner bodies. Lusitanos are rather compact, muxcular. There bodies are shaped more for working, it's why they make such nice dressage horses. They worked cattle, so sharp turns, a lot of power in the hind quarters.
I live in Norfolk
Loving this Vlogmas!
If you never get that proposal from Pete? I think Fred is a great match with you, lots of chemistry there. Sorry Pete 😬
properly not the most appropriate thing to say!
Is that Nigel Amos with the shield? In the introduction to freddy from the Conroi. I could ask him.
I think this was actually so good for you Meg! Your nervous system is probably all fried after all that adrenaline but with the good experiences comes learned resilience too :) Freddy is a great balance to your fear and brought some serious laughs LOL
Such a great episode and had me in stitches. ‘I’m beached!’ Had me 🤣, best line ever! You did so well and Freddie is amazing 🤩
It looks like pine lodge , equestrian centre,I brought a horse that used to work for livery there
