    Great production value, my dude :) I find there’s a lot of astrology and homeopathy in audio, mostly because you can’t “see” it, so thanks for helping clear up some of the cap

      Thanks! I try and remove the astrology from everything I touch. 😉

    Thank you for explaining!
    I just got a wireless mic and it’s giving the background noise like when you were quiet at the 4 minute mark. I have my central air on… that’s it. It’ll be too hot if I cut it off.

      I’m glad you were at least able to diagnose the problem! Thanks for watching.

    As for my situation, the noise comes from my system fan. Will buying a laptop cooling pad work for me? Something like buying an external cooling fan and attach it to the laptop. Please respond to this message. I know it's more than a year since you made this video. Please help me as I am facing this problem and I have searched all over the internet for weeks. Please help me.

      Hi! I'm not sure a laptop cooling pad is going to help. Yes, it will keep the fan from running quite so often or as loud, but probably can't turn the fan off. So there will still be times when it's running. Unless the cooling pad is somehow dampening the sound as well. The best solution is to a) get your mic as far away as the fan as possilble, and b) get your mouth as close as possible (without overloading it). I don't know what your particular use-case is, but that's generally a good solution for most background-noise issues.

      @@MatthewHaines Thank you so much. I will try to implement what you just said.

    So here i am looking for the opposite, can you give me some pointers on how to pick up the back ground noise as all these noise reduction microphones etc are killing me

    • @MatthewHaines
      @MatthewHaines  6 місяців тому

      Well my first suggestion would be to turn off the noise reduction function. :) Can you tell me what kind of mic you're using and what background noise you're trying to record?

    great video!
    The dynamic microphone membrane is heavier.
    and this is not astrology anymore)

    So if I want my dynamic mic to sound good, I basically need a soundproof room. If this is the case, can you recommend a mic for a Rodecaster Pro 1 that maybe is a bit more noise-friendly, if that's even a thing?
    I must admit I'm a bit confused. What you're saying makes sense, but I see UA-camrs and streamers in a normal room like mine, and their sound is just perfect.
    My room is outfitted with a fair bit of soundproofing and other acoustic panels. So I thought I should be able to get some decent sounds, but nope, I always hear room noise in my dynamic mic.
    Any tips? Thanks.

      Sorry if that's the impression you got from my video because that's not the case. Dynamic mics are typically used in poorly-treated rooms because you can get close to them with less plosive problems. Since you get closer (and often times NEED to get closer) to a dynamic mic, background noise/room reflections are much quieter in relation to the original signal.
      So I would suspect that you might not be as close enough to your mic. What mic are you using and how far away are you typically?

      @@MatthewHaines Ah, I understand a bit more now. Thanks for clarifying.
      I'm pretty close to my mic, it's positioned right where my mouth is, maybe a fist away. I have my mic arm on a shelf above me, so it's always close to me.
      The mic I'm using is the Samson Q9U.
      Thanks for your answer

      @@MsCPGAMERhmm, strange. You’re speaking into the end of the mic, not the side I assume. Are you using any compression on the mic? Do you hear similar amounts of noise if you record with the mic in other locations? Do you have any computers, fans or other noisy things near it?

    • @MsCPGAMER
      @MsCPGAMER 5 місяців тому

      @@MatthewHainesI use the compressor that the Rodecaster Pro provides. As for the room, it's almost always the same no matter where I record with my setup. I have computer fans and all that, but I can control the fans, so when I'm recording, there's no way you can hear them.

    • @MatthewHaines

      @@MsCPGAMER What does the noise sound like? Also, a compressor is going to bring up the background noise somewhat, depending on how've set it.
