Thank you US Air Force & Thunderbirds for allowing us in the awsome world of the Thunderbirds. This is as close as some of us will ever get to becoming a Thunderbird!!!!
I love the Thunderbirds . Thank you to all who keep em flying and to the courageous pilots that fly them Thank You all for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
OMG!! This is my hubby's phase crew! Isn't this from the PBS special? Kinda cool to see him! I would love to find some videos that the team members took at show sites... messing around! (this era) I know they are out there! That was some great memories!
That's right the stick uses a pressure plate. The different pressure you apply to the stick to make it move the stick translates that to control inputs. It's much more accurate. And the stick maybe moves 1/8 to 1/4 inch at most, there's an incredible amount of force on it, between 8 and 22 pounds of stick-force.
Hi, truthful! Didn't realize you were Air Force! Where were you stationed? Dad was a B-29 and B-52 bomber pilot in WWII and Korea. He had already retired by 1977, but still had some dealings with the military after retirement. Would be neat if you and Dad happened to know each other? Thank you, truthful, for your service to our country! May God bless you! : )
Yes - the reason is because it's a "fly by wire" control system - meaning it's electronic rather than mechanical. It's the same principle as using a joystick on a PC with MS Flight Simulator software. When you move the stick it sends a signal to a computer which then moves the flight control surfaces rather than having actual cables connected directly to the control stick itself.
yeah, to me it would see really hard to do a slow roll with the stick only moving that much, taking in consideration of any FOD (foreign object debirs) and any gs they're pulling
why dont they put a filter on the intake! not like a foam one (although im sure they can make one that wld still work) but like the Su27 and above covers the intake a low altitudes so bird strikes dont happen
JOKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha! Ha! Man, I thought that was you in the preview pix! To anyone watching this, the guy in the interview at 2:08 is (now Colonel (Retired)) Kevin 'Joker' Mastin. He was the B-E-S-T squadron commander I had in my whole 24 yr career! Sharp, professional, and as humble as the day is long. I doubt you'll ever see this, Joker, but if you do, know that I'm alive and kicking. Fly for Delta now but I sure do miss going upside down! Cheers - 'Twister' Maloy
Truthful, I'm sorry to hear your experiences at Pope Air Force Base N.C weren't the best, but there was clearly a reason you were assigned to Pope. Indeed, God had it all planned. Praise God! : )
Is Jim Bryant BM? One of my favourite men and oh! so cute! I love him and have for over 1 billion years! He has just been lovely to me when others did not! Forced to be nasty! Love. Safia Ali. Creator God most highest.
I had this documentary on VHS as a kid!! This actually brings back so many memories holy cow..

Aircraft Technicians: The real stars of the show.
I Applaud your Knowledge of the F-16. I'm a Crew Chief on F-16's for the USAF.
Kevin Masten, the Solo pilot, is a great guy. I worked with him when he was flying F-15C's at Mountain Home AFB.
Nice video. I hope Tbirds come to my country again soon!
Fantastic video, great footage and knowledgeable commentary.
The F-16 symbolizes the Eagle soaring and roaring to the global skies. I am proud to be an American. Go Thunderbirds. USAF HOORAH
Actually I read somewhere that in the prototype of F-16 the stick didn't move at all. It was changed, because pilots didn't like that.

See you all at the Salinas Ca air show next week. Is the runway long enough now, or will you fly out of Monterey?

Its kind of like a lock. It lets you choose from Off, to Idle, from Idle to the next stop. lift it again and it goes in Augment.

Also would be The Ultimate Personal jet ! if it came with the mechanics crew. I Admired it for a long time... F16 .. ***********===U.S.A===========
they should paint white claws where two the rear landing gear is hidden

thats cool
office with a view. hahah That was great!
1:04 great place to take a nap
hmm um... it only move very litte, so if they want to do a really slow roll, do they only move the stick a litte? PS I knew it was electrical :)
But doesn't that oil plumb out the back pollute the air?
serious? the stick only goes that far?
