True his whole outlook and approach to the fantasy world is unique. Also, interesting the real and fantastical world and their merging under a specific director? 🤔
Barker existing in this time and space is like what if Michaelangelo created during an era of hyper-capitalism of “markets” and frequent producer interference in his works. Absurd, sublime
You can see how irritated and frustrated he is with producton Interference by suits.because he was probably just Promoting or watching his butchered version of Nightbreed which came out the same time. It's too bad. He stopped Directing after Lord of illusions because he was very good. Nightbreed was a fav film for YEARS. We even created our own "Midian" ❤
@@Hollowshape Absolutely. I still can't believe he wrote his Books of Blood in the 80s. Nearly 50 years down the line, they still blow my mind everytime I go back to read them
Many years ago- way back in the 90s- I went to see Clive host his cut of Lord Of Illusions. He absolutely hated dealing with the suits. He did not hide his contempt for them. They just wouldn't stop interfering with his movie.
A true artist, with a righteous vision for what art can and should be.
Good Lord this man's mind is amazing

Clive was 30 years ahead of his time.
