Teach your dog to walk at your side
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- This video shows you an effective technique to train your dog to walk at your side without pulling on leash.
This technique works by showing your dog that as long as they continue to walk at your side, they get to continue to move forward on their walk which is naturally reinforcing to dogs.
Steps:
Position your dog at your side with a little slack in the leash.
Now begin moving forward. If your dog starts to forge ahead of you, you will move backwards one or two steps. If the dog stays, at your side, you continue to move forward. Use praise when your dog is in the correct position.
This technique works with almost every type of leash walking equipment including harnesses.

These videos are great, but how do you get your dog to watch them.
My Rotti does watch them. He sits beside me and expresses his self with all kinds of vocal sounds and now and then stand up with front paws on my computer desk to get a closer look :)
😂😂
🤣
haha
🤣😂🤣
I watched this last night, tried it this morning and Holy Cow! It worked. Best walk we’ve ever had.
Holy Cow!
How old was your dog?
How is he now? A year later
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Wow - this worked on my dog so well! Your method is incredible! I worked with her for about 20-30 minutes, and she’s not pulling anymore. Thank you so much!!
How long did it take you
@Santiago Any luck brother?
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I've NEVER thought about using movement as a form of punishment. Really smart use of animal instincts!

Great tip. Finally a dog trainer that is not using treats and force to get the dog to learn. I have a similar (little different) technique that use to teach my students.
But if u have puppy this techn is impossible.... They are always nipping and biting on leash so u need to use treats.
@@filippoljak561 You don't need to. I show it in the following video how to do it. ua-cam.com/video/_DTr_97lFww/v-deo.html
@@SaroDogTraining Nah, I already trained my pup perfectly, but thanks anyway, I'll watch it.
I must say my pup is very food driven and he's a total angel when I have treats, but when I dont have treats on me I'm screwed
@@TheVivaciousNerd That is because you treat train your dog. That is one of the downsides of treat training dogs.
Look at her precious little tail wiggle every time he says “good girl”! 🐾💕
Finally!!! A trainer that uses his brains and love for the animal to teach what is wanted rather than the use of force/special collars/jerking etc. into submission. Wonderful.
I agree!
He is one of the best trainers out there. Thought my 3 months old cocker how to heel, leash pressure and sit& wait thanks to him. Amazing guy
Notice No treats
4:34 True test of a professional. I would have cracked,
this was a brilliant video. One of the best I've seen on the topic. Thank you.
😳😂
Got the idea of the video but kept watching because of this comment
Thank you I had to stop walking my dog just to watch this lol I can’t stand the pulling but I want her to exercise with me in the morning
The more I watch this video the more I notice the dog is starting to focus without you having to tell her to!!! I LOVE IT!!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I dont think my frenchie is smart enough for this
Very straight-forward, showing what and how things are done - unlike the other videos which are lots of blah-blah-blah, teeling you what do to, but not showing how to do it...
Three days ago, my dog was routinely trying to tear my arm off on walks. Now, he's an absolute champ. Your videos are awesome!
Thanks! Great to hear. Good job on putting the work in to see results!
My dog is actually heeling now, i tried the turn around thing and it did confuse her. But your technique actually worked, thank you!
This training video was really easy and seems really logical. I'm going to start working on my pup :) Thank you
Did it work?
@@raducanutomas1563fuckin try it for yourself
@@TheOriginalBillyYO The comment is from 2 years ago. Do something else with ur life than replying on youtube 😂
@@raducanutomas1563 hahahahahahahqhqhqha
thank you! in like 10minutes my dog and I have a better bond thanks to your help. Our dogs are so much smarter than we think, it just a matter of being a good teacher
Very nice job with the video! This is actually exactly what I did with my own dog. I hadn't seen anybody else use the backing-up technique until now!
Love this video! Very well explained. I also like how simple yet effective this technique is. Thanks! Can I request you make a video on how to deal with VERY excitable dogs that want to mark every tree and charge every dog they see on their walks?
Thanks, I will be making more videos in a few weeks once a get my next batch dogs in for training. Stay tuned or check back. I will be covering this topic soon.
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Honestly this is so good! I have adopted a shelter dog. It’s been 4 days now since he arrived. We had a lot of luck because he was immediately drawn to us. The walk on the leash wasn’t that easy tho and he was always running ahead and pulling on the leash. I tried this today for a whole hour and omg it worked!!!! Of course I have to repeat it over and over again but this was by far the best walk within the 4 days. I’m so glad I found this video. Haven’t had these issues with my first dog which I got when he was still a puppy. That’s why I think I will have to work even harder and have a lot of patience with this one. Thanks a lot ! You are great
My pup is a 12 week Australian Shepherd and she got a complement from a border collie owner. She walks perfectly by my side
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
This guy just did what I've been trying to get my dog to do for years ;-;
Just try this tonight. Worked quite well. Been trying a few different things but the two steps back have worked a treat. Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for this! Just tried it and it was the best walk we've ever had!
My dog is a 10 Year old Golden Retriever that's never been trained. He walked right beside me all through our walk today, this works!
Thanks so much for this video. I've watched and tried many other methods but yours is the simplest and most effective. Thank you!
This is such a great help! I've tried stopping from moving forward until the leash is loose but I found that it only encouraged my dog to speed up as soon as I moved forward to get back to his original position. Thank you so much!
this helped SOOO much
Thanks a lot for the tip! Found a great improvement in Just one day's walking session with this approach!!
Great video and explanation - can't wait to try it with my pups. Thanks!
Subscribed just for one video. None of that mumbo jumbo, straight to the point. I don't know if you post videos anymore these days, but either way, thanks for this one! Excited to start training this later.
Finally, training walking without food reward. I never agree to that. Rewards is for teaching dog to do more complicated tricks I always believe. Thank you for the video. I have been looking for this to teach my new dog.
Really excellent and helpful technique.
This worked so well and so fast, my dog has been pulling me down hills causing me to hurt myself and in about 5 to 10 mins he was pulling a lot less, barely going ahead. Thank you!
Love this training tip! Thank you. Teaching my do to be a service dog for owner visual assistance in low lighting situations.
Found this helpful thank you
Thank you🙏🏻
Thank you! This is amazing! common sense! I tried the pull switch direction technique and it just did not work at all and I did this with my dog tonight and we had the best walk ever. Stress happy, happy me happy dog no leash pulling walk. AMAYYYYZEEZZINNG
Thanks a lot sir. I had tried other techniques before, but this one nailed it.
I’m going to try this today. Thanks!
Thanks for video. Can't wait to train my rescue.
You sir are a real animal lover my Rottweiler is a huge male and walking him was a real effort I weigh 14stone and he pulled me all over the place. Just one walk and now it’s a real pleasure taking him out really less than 5 mins and he picked it up thanks so much keep the vids coming
Looking forward to trying this
Outstanding instruction. Thanks for making these videos, and also for jumping right to the instuction with no fluff.
Thanks! I try my best to get to the point. I hate trying to fast forward UA-cam videos to get what I’m looking for!
This is a very helpful tip on how to walk your dog always on your side.
I tried this today on my dog who is already a fairly good walker, but prefers to walk 2 steps ahead. Within about 200m of using this technique he was walking amazing! The best he’s ever walked! He suddenly knew to stay at my side in line with my hip and kept his focus on me. Gobsmacked. This technique really works!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Awesome video, trying this out and my dog is starting to get the hang of it, it’s gonna take a lot of repetition but great training method, thank you!
THANK YOU! I use your method plus leading with my left foot (left side dog) to start and my Amstaff was a LOT more distracted than yours but eventually caught on! He gave me a few "seriously?" glances but eventually was catching on. This is only my second attempt so it's a great start. I also use the word "FREE" when we are done and he can play. Thanks again!
Wow. Thanks.that is easy to understand.
Wow! Amazing video, with logical technique! Good job man!
Nice! Just what need! Will try when my puppy wakes up
Whoa! This worked so well! Thank you! Wishing you an absolutely, over-the-top awesome new year!!!
Glad it helped you:) Happy New Year!
Wow, this really did work! Within 5 minutes she started to get the hang of it, and after about 20 she was a pro!
Watched a couple of your videos and promptly subscribed to your channel. While I have 2 really well behaved dogs I'm always trying to improve my training methods. And I've been impressed with your techniques. Thank you for sharing. I also think by sharing your knowledge your showing people that a gentle touch can work too.
Thanks, I am always working to improve my techniques as well!
This is awesome. I really like his style of training. Thanks for sharing. Will def watch your other vids
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Very informative my pit has a short attention span and wants to go all the time. Simple enough to be effective with practice and consistency🙂
Did this work for you?
I will have to try this with my GWP. Good looking pup.
This is pure gold ! Tried this today with mine, some really great results 😊. I'm going to keep this up for the next month & I think I'll have a much better walking dog.
My trainer has been instructing me to stop, change direction etc works for a bit, but when you try walking straight ahead it all gets forgotten
Thank u very much
like a magic! thank you, for training a dog from point zero and let us see the procedure!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Done this for 20 mins and already seen improvements with my very short attention span puppy ^_^ will implement on every walk now until she gets it! Thanks so much x

Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I've been trying other teachings so my dog was a bit confused when I tried this method but I could tell she got the message of this method and it has actually started working. I wish I would have started this method sooner!

very good tip, thumbs up
Wicked content mate. Just subscribed. Will be following you for life bud
Would just like to say thank you for a concise and easy to follow guide. Just started with my dog today (Boston terrier) and he can already do it around the house very well, just got to start practicing outside.
Was much easier than I anticipated, I put off of teaching him this for over a year, because I thought it would be very difficult... Luckily I found your video :)
THISGUY glad my video was helpful! I like working with Bostons!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I’m excited to try this with my 2 boxers! Thank you for this awesome video.
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I just found your video. Great Info. we have had our rescue for about 6 months. although is way better than she was with walking on a least, I was looking to stop the pulling and fine-tune what we are already doing. I tried this today and it WORKED!! going to keep practicing with her. I want our walks to be enjoyable for both of us.
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I got to try this.
Thanks for helping me
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I just have to add that this works just like everyone is saying. After about 10 minutes my dog got it and I just had to give her a few reminders during the rest of the walk. I'm sure that within a few days even my wife will be able to walk our 43 pound dog with ease.
Awesome I’m going to try that!

That's a nice video 👍🏼
Smart!
thank you so much! i’m adopting a husky soon and want to know what i’m doing before he gets here. :)
I'm so amazed! My husky mix was terrible before - now I can walk her (inside) and this is amazing!
Nice work!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Thank god I found your video cause I have no idea how to get my dog to walk beside me thank you!!!

Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
This actually worked bro I had a gsd for 2 years and struggled to get him walking nicely and today we did it bcs of this video❤️
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Finally a system that actually works on my 90 # Doberman. Thanks
Appreciate the video thank you. Just wondering how long and how often do you recommend for training?
Love your method. Not like those that keep treating all time and then once no more treats dogs do not actually learn anything.
Excellent! Get my doberman puppy in a week, gonna use that
OMG are you in sleep-deprivation puppy hell?! 😆😆😆💕💕💕 Congratulations on your new addition!
Wow it works great. However I haven’t been able to move pass where I started. It’s getting dark soon
cool that's work I appreciate that man !! :)
Great video
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Thx gonna go try it with my dog
I just adopted an Amish breeder release pup, 1.5 yo and walks horrible on a leash. I can't wait to try this method!
You make it look so easy. My dog is 5 months old and whenever I try to go walk him he loops around my legs or walks across and in front of me making me fall 😫 lol but I will try this! Hopefully it works 🤞
I’m excited to try this. Although, I do recommend using a harness so the dog doesn’t choke.
Good luck with the technique! Also dogs don’t choke if you teach them not to pull on leash no matter what type of equipment you are using. However, if the dog has a tracheal avulsion previously existing, choking may occur and a harness may be helpful.
Best video I’ve seen nice and simple
