I have both, but it's important to point out that Bilt's travel category is pretty strict. You have to book direct, so no OTAs, and things like commuter transit (think the NYC MTA) doesn't count as travel. That's where the CSP becomes super useful if you book travel that isn't directly with an airline, cruise line, or hotel or take public transportation. I booked a third-party cruise excursion on my CSP that coded as travel, but for Bilt this would not have been the case.
Well said, I also have both. Outside of rent day my CSP gets all the dining swipes because of the anniversary boost lol. Freedom Flex and Ink cash have been great as well.
@@jarrettbrown3529 Same! Bilt is for rent & my first-of-the-month card. Otherwise, it sits. I use my CSP for the elevated categories but need to get a good catch-all card for other expenses.
One note for the Bilt MasterCard: I was given 5x on EVERYTHING for the first 5 days (perfectly timed for a friend group trip to Montreal), and then at the end of the days I got 5x on Dining, Gas, and Groceries for the NEXT 30 DAYS. Believe that’s becoming more and more common as well.
THIS, literally this, is my current delima, I have the Amex Gold and VentureX. And it's been 6 months since my last card so I was considering both for my next one. Thank you so much John, excited to see what you say... Yes I'm posting before watching
I have been recently researching credit cards for my own use and have to say your videos have been invaluable for highlighting the value of points not as clearly defined in black and white text. Love your videos and presentation style/delivery. Very direct, open and informative.
Both is great, but don’t forget that you can ALWAYS multiply the points in Chase by 1.25 or 1.5. So for me it’s 4.5 for dining. That’s even better than the beloved gold card.
Great review Mr. John 👏🏽 keep up the good work. Thanks for the info on the Bilt card as it is going to be the next one I will be getting and with NO ANNUAL FEE is a game changer!
Bilt mastercard is already slowly losing some of its appeal. Its clear WF is not happy with the amount they are losing on them. Some benefits such as transfer rates are not being attached to tier, but rather algorithmic targeting. Rent day benefits and selection of airlines have gotten worse. I had planned to just run all of my households spend through Bilt just to avoid the credit card min-maxing. However the fact users of a much lower tier got better transfer rates makes me feel bilt does not actually value me as a customer.
Very informative video. I'm on the fence about getting the bilt card. Question, must you have the Bilt card to receive the Walgreens perks? I thought that you could link any card in the Bilt account to receive that 1-2% bonus.
i have both and think having both is better than just 1 or the other, but i will say CSP is the winner in spite of the 95/yr annual fee because it has a sign up bonus. getting 1x on rent is terrific, but it takes a lot of rent to hit the sign up bonus amount of points earned.
@@Mz.Chingona619 You can just ask BILT directly or you can try to fill out the ACH section on BILT with your mortgage destination information (instead of rent destination) and see what happens (i.e your mortgage lender starts receiving payments).

if I have 29k points and to book something asking 30k points. Will I be able to pay the difference using real money or should I have exact amount of points? Thanks
If you live in a condo, you can use Bilt for your monthly HOA fees, but not your mortgage. Still, my HOA/utilities amount to almost $2000 a month that I was never seeing any benefit from before, so that works great for me.
BILT doesn't just beat the CSP, for me it is an ecosystem slayer (UR and MR). I can get 12x dining, 4x travel, and 2x everything else with BILT Platinum status. Transfer partners are mostly the same as Chase, making Chase ecosystem irrelevant.
@Richard_Bullwinkle I don't even include rent day bonus in my analysis. 1,000 rent day bonus is an extra 12,000 points per year and just gravy that I didnt even include in my analysis. BILT is still the best card on the market when achieving platinum status.

me too. I have both.
Why not both
That’s what I’m thinking 😂
😂😂 I have both, this could also be for people that are deciding between the two and don’t want an annual fee.
5/24 for more than a year. That’s why I got BILT in the meantime for access to Hyatt. :)

I am so jealous. I didn’t get any kind of offer 😩
I got this offer as well!
I got 5x on everything for first 30 days on Bilt
You're lucky you got that offer. I got 5x for the first 5 days only.
My gf also got the 30days, so we paid for group dinner tonight 😂😂 still have 3 more weeks to enjoy it
I have both and am happy with both.
Good to see fellow pharmacist giving useful information about finance!!

You forgot to mention CSP’s 3x for online groceries
and 3x on streaming services

Bilt gets 1.25 cpp in their travel portal as well

I have both and have a hard time justifying putting spend on the CSP after I've earned the sign on bonus.
Bilt is the King of Nerfs. I am on my 3rd Chase Sapphire Preferred. The annual fee has never gone up, unlike Amex, and it has never been nerfed.
And what’s the fee?
@@steveflores6562$95 a year

I got 5x on groceries, restaurants and gas for 1st month
The 5X I received when I got my BILT card going into Black Friday was my signup bonus. And mortgage (not rent) paid with that card also.

Which card uses an airline to go to Japan?
Anyone know how to dispose of your metal cards?

What about rent day for bilt where you get double points on the first of the month for all your purchases. Thats pretty important

Replace your BILT Rewards MC with Capital One Venture X and Savor credit cards duo.

Can you do a video on the red stone visa signature credit card as a catch all credit card

the bilt card is for renters so obviously you’re not the target demographic for the card. dumbass
