Have to say, "well done, you old fart" it is something to still be able! I climbed Old man in 1965/6 or 7, was my first lakeland walk after doing lots in Snodonia previously and have always recalled it wasn't a prettiest mountain. I still get out and about in the lakes, one or two every year, but my summers are devoted to the West Coast Highlands with lots of fishing and kayaking and a few beaches in between the Munroes and and a few Bens. Well done Old Man, and Best Wishes.
Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure Richard. I was there back in 1960 on a months course at Eskdale Outward Bound Training Center when I was just nineteen years old. 😎❤️🇬🇧
A lovely part of the lakes, by the looks of it. All to yourself, thanks for sharing. It brought back some good memories of the area. Back in time to enjoy the rest if the day 😀. Atb Grant 👍.
@@DayTripperAdventures I hadn't noticed the lens TBH 😂...more the crazy, variable Lake District weather that we have to peer through, and certain 'digital additions' which whenever I speak more openly about, my comments get 'shadow banned'! It's a funny old World sometimes Richard, but your videos are always a pleasure to watch 👌
Great to see you back in the Lake District, next time try walking from Torver just outside Coniston and up the Old Man of Coniston via Banished quarry and Goats Water, up to Goats Hause, then the old man, back to Goats Hause then up and over Dow Crag summit…spectacular !
Crikey that really clouded over at the top, Richard 😮 Smashing scenery there for sure. One day I’ll have to sample it before it’s too late for me. The mine entrances were a bit scary. I cannot imagine what it must have been like working down there 😱 Nice to see you out 😉👍🏼
Thanks Tim yes the way they lived and worked in those days unbelievable hardship. If you’ve never been to Lakes you must plan a trip you don’t have to climb a mountain to see beautiful views
