Camping on a Deserted Beach - Wild Camping Stealth Camping - Watching Out for the Incoming High Tide
Переглядів 1,3 тис.3 місяці тому
I find a deserted sandy beach to wild camp the night and search for the safest stealthiest area to pitch the tent and camp for the night. It seems fine when the tide is fully out but get's a bit scary in the middle of the night when the tide comes fully in, with the large waves crashing on the shore close to my tent.

I set off very early morning with my friend Sid and my maltese dog Xiwang to see if we can hike to the summit of Pike of Sickle. I also compare which route is best up the Langdale Pikes after walking up to Stickle tarn up Stickle Ghyll and then on this one walking up the pther way to Dungeon Ghyll and Harrison Sicklle. Thi...
Best Lake District Hikes - Stickle Ghyll And Tarn, Langdale Pikes
Переглядів 2544 місяці тому
So good to be back in Lake District and this time I explored a new area the Langdale Pikes. This area is in Central Lake District so only 20 minutes from Ambleside so a really easy place to get to once you are in the Lakes. After 4 months of no fell or hill walking would I be able to make it up the steep incline to Stickle Tarn and beyond? It was definitely a fitness challenge for me but if you...

In this video I explore and camp in a huge area of industrial wilderness with pylons, factories and lakes, looking for the perfect quiet pitch for a night of solo camping. You never know what you will find but it’s always an adventure whe...

Xiwang and myself headed into a completely new area into Essex to Mersea Island to attemp to camp somewhere. It was a beautiful sunny day and we walked along the beach searching out the area seeing if we could find any secluded spots. We walked both directions and also called all camp sites on Mersea Island but would we find somewhere to camp?

We set off for a few days in the Lake District with my Maltese Dog, and the first stop was Wasdale National Trust campsite. We set up ready for an icy sub zero camp preparing for the ascent of Scafell Pike the following morning. We set off carefully and made our way up to the snow line using hiking poles to hike through the brutal black ice and snow. As we ascended the icy winds picked up and a...
Surviving A Beach Stealth Camp In Heavy Rain and Hail Storm - Stranded By The Rising Tide

I headed to the coast with Xiwang my Maltese Dog to explore a huge beach and sand dunes and look for a place to camp. I got an adventure I did not expect when we got cut off by the rising tide on a sand bank and had to rescue the dog and wade for safety. The beautiful morning sunshine soon gave way to fearsome storm clouds on the horizon so we quickly looked for a place to set up the tent in th...

I Could Sense Trouble In The Castle...Stealth Camping Gone Wrong
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Рік тому
#stealthcamping #stealthcampingalliance I thought I would try stealth camping at a 1,000 year old castle in a historic town by the river. It was the hottest day of the year and there were so many people about and it was a very high risk camp being so close to a busy town with lively nightlife. The doors to the castle also close at dark so will I manage to get inside and camp inside or as close ...
Stealth Camping On A Huge Roundabout - Heavy Rain Storm

#stealthcamping #stealthcampingalliance I head out to stealth camp on a huge roundabout and experience very heavy rain and a even a rainbow. I find a hidden place to set up my Bivvy tent behind the hedges out of sight of the busy traffic. It turned out to be a wide open area and was raised up on a slight hill so there was no danger from any traffic. If you attempt something like this you have t...

Five of the Best Hiking Trails in the South of England
Nice
It's been a while, are you stopping?
No just not had time to get out recently
Dukes Meadows in Chiswick by the River Thames is a very nice area and very near Barnes Bridge Train Station 👍
Most interesting. Thank you.
I enjoyed your video , that burger looks great , where did you buy it from ?
It was - I bought at a local farm shop not at a supermarket
Great video, thank you!
Thanks for uploading a great series, I have just watched them all through and it looked fantastic and has always been on my bucket list and has inspired me more, I plan to do this in 2026 spring.
Thanks and hope it helps. If I did again I’d make sure I did not carry much and may even stop in hostels instead of carrying all the camping gear
Have you tried the Geertop plume II bivy tent? Its even lower profile than the one you show in the video. Thanks for the inspiration. I got gear, but i have never camped (its illegal in my country) i really want to stealth camp in the rain 😢
No I have not seen that one. Probably best to camp on a site to begin with. Thanks for comment
Have you tried the Geertop plume II bivy tent? Its even lower profile than the one you show in the video
Not yet but thanks for the tip
A fine video Richard...I watched it twice 👌. Mainly because I realised I didn't comment on the first watch, but it was well worth a second look 😆 I tried the Phoxx 2, which is a good deal bigger than the Ionosphere, and I wasn't too keen on it (I have limited mobility, so I knew it might be so). I wish I could do hooped bivvies, but no...I like videos of people who can though 👍
PS...the Phoxx 2 is a good tent 👏
Thanks again for the encouragement- bivvies are not for everyone but great for stealthy camps
@@DayTripperAdventures My pleasure Richard 👌
Good advice
Very relaxing!
going here tomorrow :)
Have fun
@@DayTripperAdventures lovely place great advice 👍
Inspiring as always Richard. Looked like a nice spot too. I’m quite looking forward to some rainy autumnal walks in the woods. Hope all is well. Ben
Thanks Ben a quick 2-3 hours spent well sometimes is better than the whole overnight camp
The perfect adventure after Sunday Roast dinner. Very nice relaxing little video Richard 😎👍🇬🇧
Thanks Dad better than just sitting on the couch 👍❤️😆
Good demonstration of how to enjoy a rainy day in the UK👋
You have to make most of it as we do get a lot 👍😄
The camo on the Ionosphere sits well there in the position you had, Richard. That one man tent is very much along the lines of my Jack Wolfskin Gossamer tent. Both yours and mine have ample room and a great bathtub floor. I am contemplating pushing the 'buy button' on a DD Superlight. Been sat in my basket for around four months now. Excellent spot may I say 😉👍🏼
Hi Tim it’s best time to scout out spots in the rain. I should use the super light tarp and the inner from the Ionosphere sometime. Definitely worth having one in your pack. Small tents I think are best for this type of spot low to the ground😆👍
@@DayTripperAdventures Definitely the one man bivvy tent for true stealthy camps the first time on land. I also have my Dutch Hooped Bivvy which is lower still. Will invest in a Superlight for sure. I wish they did it in multicam though.
Awesome Richard, the Snugpack ionosphere is a great piece of gear, I love mine, just need to get out and use it more😢 If I went out for a Sunday afternoon and setup a tent and climbed inside I would have passed out till the morning😂
I know the feeling it was tough getting up. Great to hear from you SQWIB hope you can figure out what to do with your truck
cool....beats sitting indoors, looking out of the window.
Exactly it just takes a bit of effort to get out the front door
Hi, great video. Have you thought addition to the DD super light tarp. To add the dd magic carpet for a ground sheet or a tarp . this is ideal for a ground sheet for your bivvy for extra protection for the bottom of your bivvy and also you can put your rucksack and boots on to stop the mud sparing up from the ground when it’s raining. Also, I’m experimenting with carbon fibre awning pole . Lightweight folds down to nothing you can put it either in or outside your rucksack .Keep on making great videos can’t wait for your next adventure.
Thanks for the great tips as always will check them out
👍😁
Nice video. Looks like you have a good waterproof kit. A good thing in the UK 👍
Yes great investment in UK
Great video
Thanks
Game trails, Cougars Bears, thats Canada. I carry bear and dog spray.
It’s much more dangerous there I should have said this is tips for uk camping and does not address wild animal risks in other countries
Great video and some valuable tips. Thanks
Thanks for commenting
What I can see is that you have made a very big mistake by not having a stealth tent and the proper color, your tent should blend into the background and surroundings and your right you should never venture out away from your tent site .
Thanks for commenting. I was hidden by the trees so did not need to cover with my camo tarp it was not necessary in this location
Sometimes you just have to take a risk when urban camping. In my recent video I camp in town and a couple saw me - but they were moving on after work. I was next to a car park. Perfection can't be attained all the time. Will I be safe? It's a percentage thing - then you have to ask. Could I deal with that potentially bad situation? And how will I deal with it? It was like that for me in Glasgow. Then, if the real bad occurred I would just have to go at it 100%. But I was happy the risk had been calculated well. All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark you are more experienced than me so you can assess that risk better. I’m a bit risk adverse so prefer to go to quieter spots if possible and it depends who is in the area. If youths are in the area I am more careful to avoid pranksters and the like. Hope all is well with you thanks for your insight
@@DayTripperAdventures A pleasure. Well, I've spent a bit of time in the street urban space. Hey, good to go for the remote - I was just saying they don't always exist. For sure avoidance is good. Me? Been dealing with a long injury but getting there. Peace.
I have a small thermal scope that I purchased on amazon. It would be unlikely that hikers would have one, but with one, it would be difficult to hide.
That would be useful to find lost hikers
Grass all ready flattened so someone was camping there recently💚🇮🇪
I think it is the type of grass and the sea comes over from time to time
Just watched your video well done and thank you. We will for sure be doing this walk. Great to know about the car park thanks for the tip!
Thanks and hope you enjoy it
Great tips, thank you. Good point that stealth camping can be about enjoying time alone, peace, quiet, meditative thought and food cooked outside, which is always better.
Thanks Mike yes it’s getting away from everything for a few hours and you can’t get always this really in a camp site.
Another action-packed adventure, Richard. Somehow I guess this may happen ! But you are very aware of your surroundings this is the key to your success. I have just given a trecking pole tent to my nephew, who is getting into the outdoors. This was one main advantage I mentioned. Always enjoy your films, atb Grant .
Thanks Grant I thought about you today as I was in Maidstone town centre. Trekking pole tents can be quite flexible like this.glad your nephew has been converted to the outdoors
nothing to brag about dum ss
I think you would call that freedom with a burger and zero % Guinness.
Yes it’s the simple things in life
Out here in Melbourne Australia most people aren't stealhing much at all. They seem to just sleep on the sidewalk s were you have to step over them.
That’s too bad sorry to hear that
Nice spot to pitch up for the night Richard. A camo net would have been a good addition but probably a bit of overkill. Spring has just arrived here in Australia so I have started a few small hikes. 🌳🏞️
I think with the tree cover it was ok but in more open place would b good. Hope you get out more in the better weather
Thanks for another entertaining watch Richard ✌️ It's good to see the Day Tripper dinner plate back in action 😊 Do you have any plans to do a tent comparison? You have several now I think...it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on each one. Travel safely 🙏
Thank you it was good to cook camping food first time in a while. Good idea I could do that as I have used them all for a while now as most reviews are done when people pitch it for first time.
I would have used that camo tarp as cover rather than just as a ground sheet…
I did take it just in case but turned out trees covered the tent well and I needed ground sheet more with the pebbled ground
All very good advice and useful information, but still a bit scary for me. 😎❤️🇬🇧👍 Lovely burger 🤗👍
Burger is best camping food Dad easy and always tastes great cant really go wrong
Lovely and useful vid. Thanks fir sharing.
Thank you
Did you sleep ok ?
Yes thanks I think 5 or 6 hours straight through so improving
Absolutely brilliant tips everyone of them !! Brilliant tension as well 😮
Thanks hope they help people. It was genuine tension to hear voices as I did not expect anyone to be close by especially at that time
hi, great tips. loved the burger.not seen you in ages , hope you are keeping well
lovely birdsong first thing in the morning there <3
It’s so good I love recording and sharing early mornings
I liked this stealth video because of the way you defined "stealth". You just wanted to be alone and have confidence that you WERE alone. Many stealth videos focus on getting away with camping in populated areas... dare camping. This was peaceful. Thanks. Big Fan. 👍
Thanks Tom it’s getting quiet time which I enjoy most. Sometimes though it’s just finding somewhere safe in your local area to get out for the night
Great tips
Hi Cathy - I’m sure you must have some good tips to share
petzl has headlamps with red light . almost invisible and you preserve your night vision
I do have red torch light but I’m still not convinced it’s not giving your location away.
Apparently ? Silverbirch bark is a good tinder for starting fire ? I don't advocate peeling it off, but it could be useful to you one day in the event of an emergency ? Great video, 👍 as always 👍 That burger looked fantastic 😋
Thanks yes I have to see before but I’m very careful so don’t normally have fires unless I know I’m totally hidden. Simple Cooked food is the best when camping
Is this what a place that can't get insurance looks like. 😂
Excellent video. Very informative and great narration - enjoyed that!😊
Thank you glad you liked it
