Matt, one more tip. The bluettie AC200 max is not light and not small, so for many overlanding situations, may be more weight and or bulk to being loading with everything else.
However if you do not need the 30amp plug on a particular trip you can take the B230 expansion battery a little lighter and a whole lot less space taken up. The expansion battery can be charged by it self, it does not need the AC200max because it has an mppt solar charge controller built in. So you have all your outputs but AC and or 30amp plug. But if you need AC you can use a DC to AC inverter.
Or you could buy the 300 (3000 watt hour) expansion battery which works with AC200Max as well. And it too can be used as a stand alone.

Thank you for sharing your insights, Matt! I agree that the Bluetti AC200Max may not be the most lightweight option for overlanding. For those looking for a more compact and portable power solution, I highly recommend checking out the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. With its massive capacity, fast recharging capabilities, and comprehensive protections, it's a reliable choice for outdoor enthusiasts like us. Keep exploring and enjoying your outdoor adventures!

That's cool! The power stations just keep getting better and better. After your reviews I purchsed the Jackery 1000, it arrived yesterday. Testing it tonight on the electric blanket. I still want the diesel heater, but 1 thing at a time.

Thanks for sharing this video. We have a uev490 and being “new” digital nomads was searching for a power station that will power our starlink & laptops and as we plan to be off grid for extended periods in outback Australia. Now also subscribing 😆

Great review! Looks like an awesome product and. strong contender for home backup power (as well as power for my teardrop!). BTW, enjoyed seeing you and @trailrecon hanging out together. Good stuff. Just got my Escapod, getting her equipped, and then I'm getting her out of the driveway! Will be scouring your Ouachita National Forest vids for good spots. Best - Rhino

You can also add a DC charging enhancer onto each expansion battery as well. So the maximum solar on a unit with two batteries is 2400 watts!

Bluetti solar panels are high quality, achieving a very respectable efficiency. But! they are not good in any kind of inclement weather. So for example, if you wanted to leave them out over night and plugged in to your AC200Max so as soon as the sun comes up (even faint in cloudy conditions) they wake up your AC200max (turn it on) and start charging. But you do not want them to get wet. And sprinkles can happen over night or heavy dew. Or if there might be rain, you need to be around because you must take them in if it starts raining. That is a hassle.
Therefore, for overlanding/off roading I recommend looking for another brand of portable solar panel or permeant panels for roof top. Zamp owned by (Dometic) makes extremely high quality portable and fixed solar panels. Similar in price on the high side. But super good and 25 year warranty. Of course there is other brands of solar panels worth considering at all kinds of price points.
Btw Max, you didn't mention the AC200max app on your phone that allows you to turn on and off the AC and DC power as well as check your out put and input. And it is capable of pass through charging, meaning you can be running electronics and charging it simultaneously.

Do you store in staked in your trailer while going down the road? I usually put mine in my truck but would be much nicer to leave it in my enclosed trailer staked on top of the b230 battery where I usually keep it when parked. Tied to the wall with 2 straps. Just not sure if it would negatively impact the electronics?

Were you able to make a duration power test on battery only for the AC200MAX with a power of approx 200W for example (should be 10 hour discharge of the unit)? How many hours did you get before reaching the end at approx 15% for example ? One month after purchase of my AC200MAX, I get only 5 hours at 200W (from 100% full to the stop at 15%). This means my battery has 1000Wh ready available plus reserve of 300Wh ?? 1300 instead of 2048 ?? One month after purchase I am down at approx 2/3 of my battery capacity or ??

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I'm currently building a DC to DC charging system for my Bluetti AC200 MAX using the Renogy 40 AMP DC to DC charger running from the truck's alternator (I have a 200amp alternator). From the charger to a Renogy 200amp hour LiFPo battery. The battery provides power to a Renogy 2000W pure sine wave inverter which (finally) is available to charge the AC200 MAX with the power brick. This will allow me to charge my MAX while driving or idling the truck without solar restrictions. I will also have redundancy and extra power available from the inverter. There are several YT videos on how to do this. One note to add: The MAX has pass-through charging- you can charge and use the inverter and DC at the same time.

GREAT video. QUESTION: you said there was a storm rolling in and you were able to turn off the star link from the Bluetti without having to get up and go outside. I was wondering how the Bluetti would do in the rain. But you didn’t say. 😏😊. So was it exposed to all the elements of morning dew, rain, wind and dust? If not, what kind of setup did you have it in? Also, what do you do to protect your power station and solar panels from being stolen when you are not at your site? I look forward to hearing from you.
