    These cars can cover big miles very reliably, there are hotels that have run up huge mileage on phantom VII’s but as you have found out the problem is when people don’t maintain them properly. These kind of cars really need preventative maintenance, but at the cheaper end of the market people tend to wait until things break and this has a knock on impact on other things on the car.
    It is questionable whether buying the cheapest is ideal or buying one that’s a bit more expensive and better maintained.
    At least you have something that is extremely early, car 4 is quite incredible and that in itself is pretty awesome. Hopefully it will serve you well for a long time.

      Thanks for watching. They do say the cheapest Rolls Royce is the most expensive one you’ll ever buy for the very reason of the catch up maintenance. I think I’m there! It has been reliable but needs more work this year.

      @alancrisp1582 5 місяців тому +3

      🤔 True, is they are quite capable of doing large a large mileage. But the real problem is, they mostly never do. They are often left setting for long periods. And there vehicles note that, because that is when the real problems start !....

      Hi Chris, I just discovered your channel, and subscribed of course. It’s a lovely car, and certainly a head turner.
      I was wondering what the un named issue that you hinted at was?. It wouldn’t be a cylinder head gasket, or stretched timing chain?.
      I know that for these issues you’d need to sell both your kidneys, and probably still come up short.
      Anyway, I enjoyed the story so far, perhaps an exploration of how some of these jobs could be undertaken by the home mechanic?.

    Hello. Loved the video but I disagree with you on one thing. I think you could have bought a Phantom for 75k and STILL poured 25k into it. These eat money, and unless there are only a few years old, they will always have things that need sorting.
    But I love Phantom, I always have. I was so happy that BMW didn't ruin the brand, they kept the original ethos. They could have downsized, they could have cheapened the brand,, but they didn't, they made an unapologetically vast and expensive car. They knew what they had and turned it in to a viable business.
    A Phantom will always be a special car, and whilst it has deprecated it still retains relative value. How much would a 21 year old BMW 760, which would have cost 120k new be worth now? 3k, 4k?
    Anyway, lovely car, keep up the good work!

      Thanks for your comment Steve, I think BMW have made a huge change. RR struggled for month in the 80’s & 90’s. It’s now a profitable brand able to deliver in that promise of luxury. BMW has given RR the stability it needed the thrive. The cars they are producing today are far beyond the level of my Phantom, it’s true to Henry Royce’s vision. However small volume car production is tough to get right, look at Aston Martin. RR wouldn’t be what it is today with BMW’s backing. If you ever get a chance to visit the factory, do, it’s quite incredible what the craftsmen and women do at RR at Goodwood. Thanks for watching.

      @@ChrisEdworthy I’ve worked in engineering for 40 odd years, much of that time supplying support services for RR Aerospace. Unrelated and up a level from the motor cars, engineering is at the centre of everything they do, and they are really very very good at it. Product and product excellence over hype and fluff, delivering on the promise of the name.
      BMW appear to have done a great job with RR giving them financial means to design, engineer and build without compromise, your experience with older modern era RR promises to be really quite interesting test of this, operational reliability, with age and use being the real test of a well engineered product.
