  • On July 7, 2024 around 12:28 AM, Officers Marvin DeJesus and Anthony Rutkowski with the Hoboken Police Department initially arrived at the parking lot located at 23 Hudson Street on a report of a driver of a 2021 GMC Yukon who had attempted to flee the scene of an accident after striking a parked 2020 Jeep Compass and 2024 Nissan Sentra. The officers made contact with NJ Transit Police Officer Ventura since he was already on scene, and they would later learn that Officer Candia was the first person to make contact with him after witnesses in front of Pig & Parrot were telling him that he could not leave. Officer Andrias Bonilla arrived on scene shortly afterwards and made contact with the driver of the GMC, and he was identified as 22-year-old Jefferson Sanchez.
Jefferson told Officer Bonilla that he was coming from Fat Taco, a bar in Hoboken. He admitted to consuming alcohol before operating a motor vehicle, and he had previously admitted this to the NJ Transit Police officers as well. Based on the motor vehicle accident and their suspicion of impairment, Officer Bonilla asked Jefferson to perform field sobriety exercises. Jefferson refused to perform field sobriety exercises, and Officer Bonilla placed him under arrest for driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law, and Officers DeJesus and Rutkowski transported him to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing.
At the Hoboken Police Department, Officer Bonilla read him the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and he agreed to submit breath samples. His Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.19%, which was more than double the legal limit of 0.08%. After he was processed, he was released to a sober adult at 3:59 AM pending his court appearance after they signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. Officer Bonilla issued Jefferson the following summonses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident

Our content is educational and in compliance with UA-cam's Fair Use Policy because we edit several long clips into a concise story. This is similar to other law enforcement channels on UA-cam. All videos and case documents were obtained pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq. (P.L. 2001, c. 404). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.

@crazycat4695 I've never heard of a bucket of Margaritas. Guess it must be some bottles crap but probably more alcohol than beer. Buckets of beer are at least 6 I'm my area. Never heard of a single person drinking buckets lol
