Introduce yourself and then tell your brief basketball story, and end with youre willing to do the little things to help behind the scenes, no matter what the task
Ant you don’t understand how helpful this was for me. I just got into Michigan and really want to get in with any of the Hockey/football/basketball team for my couple years there.
Hi. What if you are going into grad school with very little managing experience. you think they would look past that. I have experience in the ticketing office in athletics with the team. Im trying to be a grad manager
That’s a bit tougher honestly.. especially without connections on the basketball team to work as a volunteer in any capacity.. best bet would be to network at the Final Four every year
@@itsAntWright hey so I recently got accepted into grad school where I want to be the grad manager and the last one just graduated so there’s a vacancy. I applied to the position and have the phone number to the basketball operations manager. Honestly don’t even know if I will get called for an interview but you think it would be weird to ask for an opportunity to interview?
Thanks, Ant. Insanely helpful video. You think they’d mind if I didn’t play basketball in high school? Still love and study the game, and a really hard worker, just didn’t play organized in high school.
This video was very helpful thank you so much. I am manager for the high school team and I want to continue to do it in college. Do you think that even though I haven’t played in high school that I could still do that and would being the manager in high school help that at all?
I know guys who didn’t play in high school, became managers in college and are currently still part of college programs staff as administration or coaching staff.. once you know where you’re going, follow the directions from the video, reach out ASAP and be thorough
This video was so helpful and resourceful. Thank you so much! I've been a team manager for 8 years since my freshman year of high school and currently managing the men's & women's basketball programs for now 4 years at community college, but I want to make the jump to D1. I graduated with a non-transfer degree in CC. Is this there any way I can be a team manager without being an active student at D1 university???
Any suggestions on what to say when contacting?

What would a good major be for an incoming freshman looking to help manage the basketball team?
I am transferring into Michigan this fall and want to do anything I can to become a student manager for the basketball team. This video helped so much
I know with being a practice player you only have 5 years of eligibility. Does the same rule apply for student managers?
I’d like to be a student manager, but for the football team. Would you say these things would apply to that as well?
Yes, very similar.. just adjust the timeframes.. start reaching out in January
Should I go ahead and start trying to help the colleges during the summer between 10th-11th grade or is that too early?
Won’t hurt the resume.. they always need help with admin work at camps and extra hands at camps too

Just show you’re a hard worker and willing to learn how to run a program, doing the little things

That would be tough honestly.. can talk to the staff and ask directly, but it'd be like a volunteer basis
This was my exact question.
should i also contact chief of staff?
No
