My 82 yr old mom was raised that facial skin care was the same as makeup and using face lotion meant she was trying to be "sexy." She gave up the church of her youth, but some things stuck with her. After she bled from facial mask abrasions last year, I have been trying hard to get her to care for her skin. She has serious memory issues, so she forgot she got hurt, but still is very sharp about learning. By using Dr's science-focused language about impaired skin barrier and bringing her very plain packaged products, we have turned her mind around, now she gets that it's health care. Thank you doctor! ❤️
I so wish I had this channel to educate me back when I was a teenager. I struggled with eczema so much when I was younger and it didn't really clear up until my early-mid 20s. I now suspect letting it continue for so long is what contributed to developing seb derm on my eyelids. But at least I'm actually getting proper treatment for that now, after learning about it from your channel.
@@gemsngiftsusa2281 My dermatologist prescribed ketoconazole cream which I used daily at first, but now that it's cleared up more I only use it twice a week. Other than that, I just make sure to use products that don't have any ingredients to feed the malassezia growth, and I put vaseline on so it doesnt dry out a lot.
Doctor Dray today's video was really informative and helpful. I as a matter of fact had atopic dermatitis between my eyebrows and when i noticed, that something wrong was happening in my skin, i immediately rushed to my dermatologist and got rid of it but when my dermatologist saw me alongside with my atopic dermatitis she saw that i also had seborrheic dermatitis on my cheeks and really close to my nose and with combination treatment i got rid of the both (atopic and seborrheic dermatitis) (my treatment was cleansing with a gentle cleanser, topical use of pimecrolimus cream (elidel) and 7 seven days of topical use again of isoconazole nitrate+diflucortolone valegare (travacort-steroid cream)). SoS it is of a great importance the maintenance of a healthy and well functioning skin because if we don't treat our body well, it will have bad consequences on us in many ways that we as simple individuals can not even imagine. Hi Dr. Dray. I'm working in PICU and this year was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis on the face and seborrheic dermatitis. I also have cold urticarias. The second attack of dermatitis was because of the allergy. And I'm also acne-prone because of hormones and impaired skin barrier. The one that helped me is aveeno ezcema itch balm on top of my moisturizer and then vaseline during my off. I am using cerave benzoly peroxide because it's gentle and has antibacterial property. Ketonazole didn't work for me. And would you believe that right now, I'm tolerating daily tretinoin?
I’m still struggling with a bad bout of Seborrheic dermatitis after wrecking my barrier earlier this year so relate to this video so much! In my case the situation is complicated by my underlying condition, but do you think it’s possible to get the barrier back into somewhat working order when complications arise? I haven’t been able to wear sunscreen in almost a year!
Would you consider a blog on pernio/chilblains? I searched and couldn't find one. My derm diagnosed it two winters ago on my fingers and toes. I take precautions now and it has not reoccurred, but I'm worried that it will and if there is something I can do to speed up recovery. I wear wool socks, gloves, and ear covers when I'm outside, and I sometimes wear a mask to protect my nose when it's really cold. Since COVID it's not so weird to walk around wearing a mask now.
My face , arms and hands got scratched up badly . My face isnt as bad the skin is damaged red , sore and cold -2°Celsius. All I've done is keep Clean using cerave sa Gel cleanser , moisturise normal and have stopped my tretinoin formula and using BoJ 👁🗨 Retinaldehyde Serum - mainly for the dehyde in it and their rice spf . If you think I should remove a product please say . Thanks for all your content and appreciate you . 🙌👏❄️☃️🎅🇬🇧🇬🇧🌈

Not a lot at all, niacinamide is not really an active and the percentage is low, azelaic acid is a gentle active that is often paired with tret but honestly at too low of a concentration for me to believe it is doing much either way (typically it's used for acne in a 15-20% concentration). You might have made a mistake there with the tret percentage because the max concentration in prescriptions is 0.1%.

hi dray🙂☀️ when traveling is it ok to use a hand sanitizer, and then proceed to do a skincare routine, or will it transfer from my hands to my face and cause irritation?
does putting retin-a over moisturizer lower its efficacy? or is it ok i am doing it that way. I know it helps irritation. I just want to make sure the prescription is still getting through the cera be moisturizing cream.
Hi Dr Dray. Why does my underarm skin itch / inflamed ? I tried Vanicream deo. I also don’t use anti perspirant. What can I do to prevent my itchy underarm coz it gets dark after redness
Why does nickel give us rashes? It gives me a rash, anyway. As a side note, I think my skin is borderline sensitive and seems to be becoming more so as I get older.
Totally unrelated, but somehow this video finally convinced me that it’s time to get rid of those liquid eyeshadows that have been open for 12 months now. 😂
This video really hot home with me. I have just been diagnosed with both a fungal infection and a bacterial infection on the face. I am now on antibiotics, an anti fungal cream and an ointment for the inside of my nose. These issues have caused me such distress, discomfort and itchiness across my face and down my neck. Thank you so much for posting this. Would love to know your thoughts on how to cleanse during this period where my skin is so sore and itchy, the barrier so impaired that my skin is tolerating very little. Many thanks for all you do Dr Dray ❤

Why does nickel give us rashes? It gives me a rash, anyway. As a side note, I think my skin is borderline sensitive and seems to be becoming more so as I get older.

Are you talking about folliculitis
