Great video! Love seeing the progress you made out there since last I seen ya. I do believe last time I did see ya was in Wisconsin gathering up small rail.
I've been a railway engineering professional for over 46 years, a rail fan for over 60, and I think this is the finest little line I've ever seen - if for no other reason, then for its jfdi attitude that makes it work despite everything. But there are lots of other reasons to like it.
You've done amazing work! We've built a 5" scale 15" gauge Denver and Intermountain steeple cab. Is under Comanche Crossing and eastern rr here on UA-cam.
@@CNW4145 I'll be excited to see what becomes of it. Very clever design, having it built around what I assume is the size of one person sitting in the middle to operate it!
The trolley (green and yellow) is cute as a button 😊 I hope to see the upgrade soon and it running ❤ What state is this in? It looks like its in the country obviously, im guessing Vermont? I adore rail lines like this, as everyone would say, brings back childhood memories, not many rail lines like this, its a great passion! Id love to work on it along side your team. Its a labor of love i can tell, i know if i had something like this, i couldn't wait to get off work to take a ride, or work on cars, fix the rails, add in somethings like crossing signals, lije a wigwag, or a waldo. I know trees can be a pain, in the first vid i watched of yours, on a curve, one was in the way, looks like that got cleared, the steepke car runs all over the place now. All in all this looks like fun! 😊
Great video and great job you did!!!! Do you have an estimation of cost to build such a kind of Railway? I mean based on 500 MTs... Without electricity, to use with diesel engines. Thanks a lot
With this hobby you can spend as much or as little as you want. I build most everything from scrap steel and I repurpose parts from other things to use for it. I spend way less money on it than I ever did in HO scale trains! Of course the rail is the most expensive part, but if you know where to look, you can find good deals on that too.
How do you do the bends and keep the gauge correct? My father was a big H.O guy had a layout in a four car garage in southern Calif. Had rail car moved to the park in town where they had RR club meetings. I love your layout!!
The curves are made by laying the ties out for the route, and then putting some rods in the ground to keep the ties from moving. Then just secure the rail to the ties one at a time, bending the rail a little each time it is secured. Looks dauting but once you get going its quite easy.
This is definitly a different twist on scale railroading! I live in an area where the Illinois Terminal traction line once ran, and 5 miles of roadbed recently became a bike/hike trail. There are other segments of that line that are also bike/hike trails. The IT was the only traction line in Illinois that had overnight sleeping cars between St. Louis, Mo., and Peoria/Danville Illinois.
I came upon this railway via a mutual friend of the owner, and helped him work on it regularly for about 20 years. About 10 years before his passing he asked if I would be interested in buying it, and of course I was!
You aren't wrong, however the number on this car was chosen due to being modeled after a specific prototype. Its the only one that doesnt fit the scheme!
@@CNW4145 ok understood. The wife and I was asking as we was wanting to make a donation to the railway. Appreciate the response. Keep up the great work.

This is the best thing I’ve seen in some time. Would love to know the history 👍
Splendid!
I had no idea this line has been around for so long. Kudos to you for keeping it up and running!
loved the tour, there is a lot of passion and work sitting in and around that barn...very cool!
Absolutely love this video! Would love to see more videos like this sharing details of how the line works and it’s history!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to make something else like it in the future.
So happy to see it is still there and alive. Just amazing!
Thanks for the video and I'm glad to see you posting been missing the trolleys
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!

It has been a while Jake, you should tag along next time the crew comes out!

Always loved the hell out of this channel
Also, cool leaf

This is just so cool! Very quaint setting and such a fun trolley line.
Really cool! I would love to see this line some day.
aw man it's been a while since I checked for videos, glad I did!!!! Wow, thank you SO MUCH for this- I had no idea RRVT had an open car!
Спасибо, очень интересно!
Una bodega como si estuviera en un sueño😳😮😮😮😮😮👍
Thanks for getting back to me .I really like your layout.
Thanks!
great video
A fascinating little railway. We have two foot gauge lines in the UK but I don't know of any like this with an overhead catenary.
It is a dream of mine to visit the two foot lines in the UK, all the videos I have seen of them make me very jealous of anyone who lives near them!

Nice tour. 🎉😊. I had no idea something like this existed. Need a depo for passengers to take ride.
There is a small depot, you will probably see it in one of the other videos.
Excellent 👍
I had no idea about the open car, but it is a gorgeous piece of equipment!
Hope to have it running again in 2021, stay tuned

I’m curious what the voltage is through the wires? Your motors run on 36VDC, I think you’ve said.
It is 250Vac in the catenary. And yes, the motors are 36Vdc
Top speed of this vehicles ? In mp/h and km/h
Most of them are geared for 12 MPH, one of them runs almost 30 MPH. Its a riot lol

How did you end up with this railroad?
I came upon this railway via a mutual friend of the owner, and helped him work on it regularly for about 20 years. About 10 years before his passing he asked if I would be interested in buying it, and of course I was!
Following the historical numbering, shouldn't car `60` be `601`? (June 2001) -- The remaining cars seem to be numbered on a MYY scheme.
You aren't wrong, however the number on this car was chosen due to being modeled after a specific prototype. Its the only one that doesnt fit the scheme!
Are you close to DeKalb County? And are you guys a club or a not for profit group?
It is a private railway, not even a club. I have liability concerns so that is why it is kept private.

I bet you get asked this a lot but what is that track gauge?
24"
hi, i have a question : how long is the rail?
There is almost a mile of run out here..
Thank you
Where is this? What gauge?
🤷🏽♂️ Ohio? 2ft 3"?
