- Is this the bike that is going to win the 2022 Tour de France? Reigning yellow jersey winner Tadej Pogačar has a new Colnago that he’s riding in this year’s race. This prototype, or ‘prototipo’, hasn’t yet been released to the public, but Si had the opportunity to take a close-up look while in Denmark for the Grand Départ.

Will this be the bike that wins the Tour de France?
Prototipo-cally, yes
Untill they take it back like they did to Lance. No way that dude is clean.
@@HereThereBackAgain which bike did they take from Lance? Did he ride Colnago?
@@HereThereBackAgain if you think this....the uci has to be in on it....
Yes
With that stealth hub sound you will never know when he is not pedaling. Maybe part of the tactics lol
Doesn’t matter. Put him on your grandpas’ comfort bike, he’ll still smoke the entire gc up a 20% climb with or without his team.
Im new to cycling but i notice that the nicer/more expensive road bikes the LOUDER the freewheel spin thing sound. Im like, are you trying to get noticed?

2022: "7.27kg pretty darn feathery"
All that aero work for Tadej hair out the helmet!
That's where he gets his power I heard
The tufts are worth an extra 20 watts, so they more than make up for the aero loss
@@andredubois4601 I heard UCI is planning on banning his Follicle Generator ;-))

Yeah. Rather light indeed

Beautiful Italian bike, with campagnolo. 🔥🔥🔥🇮🇹
@The serial Aquascaper It mite not be, but it's still Italian. 🇮🇹
I never understand the obsession with loud hubs. Personally I can’t stand them but that’s me
it would be great if there's more measurement other than stem and handlebar
Just watching TdF right now and just realized how short Pogacar's handlebars reach when I saw it. Then I searching it on the internet and just found out he's using handlebars with only 75 mm reach. Damn.
Still not a huge fan of the font for the new Colnago logo but I absolutely love that bike. Almost as much as I love my 1996 Colnago Master Olympic
Technically, Colnago have had bikes win the Tour de France before, but they weren't branded as Colnago. Eddy Merckx's orange Molteni team bike was a Colnago Super with "Eddy Merckx" decals on it instead.
Now we have to make the decision ....was it made in China..or Tawain?
PLUS.....A SUPERB WELL WITHIN UCI WEIGHT of 7kg......
How marvelled we are for tech....BEAUTIFUL
Masi and De Rosa as well
New Colnago’s never rode well. Like Cannondale and Cervelo.
They feel heavy and clunky.

All the mechanicals UAE Team Emirates has been having are mildly concerning

6.8 Kgs ............
@@budbud2509 7.22kgs. And that's with 2 bidons (60-70 gms each) and the SRM head unit (100grms). So a bit below 7 kgs, and that's with the added weight of the SRM crank (approx. 100 gms). That results in a weight of around 6.9kg (no bidons, head unit, power meter). I would say that's quite OK for a bike that isn't allowed to weigh less than 6.8kg.
@@l.d.t.6327 So was mine and complete with pedals I had a Garmin on
No power meter for me ........ I don't make enough to count it .......
Most manufactures do display the weight with not even a bottle cage
or pedals . So if the UCI weighed it would they take the bidons and
head unit off ? ...... I don't have a clue, but I'm interested .
Mine has put on a bit of weight recently as I changed from the under
stem control box to the bar end charging point , it needed a different
battery as well to cope with bar end charger + a few other cables
surprising how a few mods can put some weight on.
Yes u are right 6.9 is actually reasonable
Thanks for the video.
7.27 kg was that with the SRM head unit ? And were the water bottles empty ?
Even empty it brings it in at the 6.8kg.
So much for all the nay sayers with disc brakes being too heavy.
: It will most likely be 7,15 kg without the bottles but with the head unit. And ignore David D as he is high on copium.
.17 kg heavier than V3RS Disc, .47 heavier than V3RS Rim. Heavier, not aero, more expensive peace of junk, but Tadej is dominating so hard, that reach noobs would buy everything he promotes, so who cares about the weight (wait, Pogacar himself said, that for him even 300 grams are significant, maybe he's sold out).
The way in was bollocks either way

What a beautiful bicycle
We don’t want this, we want G’s time trial bike in a wind tunnel with a gilet vs no gilet! Just how many watts did it loose and what would the time have been?
Seconded...
I'd like to know the tire width..... seems that a lot of riders go with 28mm width in normal road stages.... can you confirm?
Me too! And are they tubless?
25mm
25 mm and Ineos ride's tubeless.
Its been said before here, Eddy Merckx was also riding a Colnago frame (Rebranded as a Merckx) and won the tour before 2020 a few times. Merckx of course was a great promoter of Ernesto Colnago and vica versa, put Colnango on the world stage. Like Bianchi and Pantani. Lets get our facts straight for the Youths, whom watch this channel.
His handle bar width. This is interesting.
2020: 420mm
2021: 400mm
2022: 380mm
Narrow more aero I suppose
Bikes get heavier every year so have to offset it any way they can
his shoulders getting narrower every year :D
Evolution 😂
He us loosing weight 😆
Funny when wheels spin but the spokes look like they are not even moving
That's because of the framerate of the camera/video
It's a Campagnolo patent 😆
That's the stealth part, You can't hear him not peddling, You can't even see him moving.
This is a Darimo seat post for sure. Unlabeled but a high tech Darimo seat post.
So the 130mm stem is to make up for the size S frame(52cm?)
During USPS era I remember all the Trek's for riders (5'10"- 6'1") would go between 58cm for mountain stage and 56cm for everything else
thats basically how pro's these days want their bikes: small frame, lot of reach. Notice how everyone sits at the tip of their saddle, no spacers under the handlebar. Smaller bike is easier to corner and more reach with a long stem (indeed to compensate) makes that the rider automatically sits in a very low aero position. I once taken over a used pro bike and that position is hard to maintain without proper core training
@@pjetrs so whats the top tube size and seat tube size (cm) of Pog again? Coz im 5'10 too
@@jackal6234 53cm seattube from his v3rs 53cm toptube, 130mm stem length

At the time of writing already notched up two stages. Colnago and Campagnolo combine to produce mobile art. I own two Colnago carbon bikes. My V1R Ferrari with Campagnolo Super record train is perfection.
Can I make a dental appointment with you? 😂
Every time I see Pogacars hair sticking out of his helmet, I have a hard time understanding the “marginal aero gain” concept
Because of his hair sticking out, he needs all the gains even more to compensate😉🤣
The tufts give him superpowers, so the aero losses are balanced out
And I can't help thinking of Cartman!
Browsing through TDF vids and ran into this… can not believe he was still running mechanical group set last year for the tour…
oh, how I wish that I had taken cycling seriously when I was still young enough to train for pro. I'm 24 now and just started training, and I have a (nearly!) one year old son at home. Better bet that he's already on the rocking horses and learning to jump up and down. He'll be on a bike in no time!
I always wished I had learned a discipline extraordinarily young so that I could maybe be a prodigy like Pogacar.
Very few have the discipline to excel at anything. I believe it to be more important than talent or desire and not a lot of families really want their child to obsessively pursue one single thing to the exclusion of everything else. These wunderkinds almost never have anything approaching a "normal" childhood.
@@cvn6555 fair enough, but hard work will never beat talent+hard work, and tdf winners are first born to win and only then tailored
@@degot88 When I was young I was under the illusion that I didn't excel in sports because I never tried hard enough. That was reinforced by pretty much all of society. As I have had another 40 years of life experience I have realized that it is not true. Great athletes are indeed born. Born with coordination, balance, muscle development, maybe better cellular elements and enzyme systems as well. The kids that become great athletes had parents that were great athletes. Those that excel at the college and pro level nearly always have immediate or close relatives that have done the same. Yes, genetics is undeniably important. But all the innate ability in the world is not enough and is not going to overcome a lack of discipline. This is why I said that it takes talent, discipline and desire to excel in sports and, really, anything in life. An athlete with slightly less talent that outworks the more talented athlete with no work ethic will always win.
I want to see the Yellow one Pugacar bicycle please. 👍🏼
What is that patch on the from forks just above the UAE logo
I saw yesterday on stage 7 they used 38/42mm profile wheelset
What is the lump taped inside the front fork of the race bikes in TdF ? Someone else suggested it was the transponder but I thought the black thing sticking out from under the back edge of the saddle was the transponder.
It’s the timing chip.
Nice to see an Italian bike using Campagnolo
A classic combo!
I'd love to know more about that saddle. Doesn't seem to be the lightest ever.... but I bet it gets extra-points on comfyness.
The saddle is a Pro Logo Scratch M5 . It is a short saddle and is very comfortable
Best saddle i've ever tried
why would you weigh it with the bottles and head unit on?
V3R rim brakes from last year TDF have 6,8 kg, so BIG progres🤪
0:47 What's that on the fork arm? Sand paper? Velcro? Also: bike presentations used to be more detailed, mentioning saddle, pedals, and even some measurements like saddle height.
Velcro, probably where the GPS transponder is affixed
I was listening for the cassette size. No dice.
How come brands can't figure out a way to produce 6.8 kg bikes ? I just don't get it. It's not that difficult to achieve, even with discs.
Disc brakes.....for a 25mm tubular in the heat...what could possibly go wrong lol
Half the team had to change bikes yesterday, do we know why?
The chains broke.
Looking exactly as same as merida
Would have been nice to know what size frame that is
' cos its pretty small for someone who's is nearly 5 ' 10
And these ' New' road bikes are we now calling them Semi Aero road bikes and every second one just looks like a Specialized Tarmac sl7 , lol
Really good looking bike
Looks like Tadej has changed his position a bit over the previous bike of his they reviewed
Ok, I’m calling it - the TDF should become a handicapped race - like in horse racing. Handicaps can vary from stage to stage. So currently, Pog wouldn’t need this bike - he would be allocated a steel framed, relaxed geometry number, with 45mm aggressive tread pattern (ok he can even do tan-wall for max style). The rest of the peloton might just be able to keep up.
And Van Aert on a Chopper.
😂
With a stealthy hub. You will never know if he is nearby. Lol
What was up during stage 7? The whole team had bike issues and several riders had multiple bike changes….
*made* by a legendary *Italian* brand...
_chuckles heartedly_
Colnago is an Italian company. The HQ is in Italy, 100% of those who work at Colnago are Italian, they produce and paint their bikes in Italy... Why shouldn't it be considered Italian?
@@SpaghettiAndLove Because a chunk of the value of the bike is not made in Italy, but imported. Even campy is now producing outside of Italy - Romania, i think.
I believe the top end ones are still made in Italy, aren't they?
Unless this bike rides itself I believe its the legs of Tadej that make this bike go fast
looks like the saddle is nose down a bit?
UAE has been having a lot of mechs in the Tour. Campagnolo?
The freehub body is the opposite to my fat tire bike free hub body, these sound like small machine guns ;-)
Thanks Si...nice bike , and ,no skinny jeans !

I spotted you weren’t on it, Simon ! 😃
It's not gonna have anything to do with the bike, be it a fantastic one, but the motor.. Always was, always will be..
Great bike
Colnago did win the Tour de France BEFORE Pogačar, this was Gastone Nencini in the year 1960! It‘s said that Ernesto Colnago had tears in his eyes when Pogačar won the Tour the second time for Colnago in 2020.
Eddy Merckx had a Colnago Super with custom sticker job -71 & -72
Still waiting for wireless campy
Somehow I have doubts about the translation
Tubeless, tubular, or clincher??
90% sure they are tubular
G3 spoking is marketing-driven rubbish. It makes the wheel weaker, more prone to damage and only Campagnolo, in a vain attempt to differentiate its wheels from the rest of the bunch, promotes. It, and any number of junk Chineseum wheel brand copycats. Chapeau.
This bike was really easy to assemble ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
The ending of the video called plot twist
What about the tyre width size?
The wheel is very far from the frame similarly to the New Scott foil Nice trend :)
Do you know if there are any benefits from that?
@@andredubois4601 it should help to reduce turbulent airflow behind the fork because the air is Not traped between the frame and the fork

is that even legal with 7.27kg? 2 bottles, pedals and head unit and even the bora ultra 45 DB at 7.27kg. its crazy light tho.
It's not crazy light at all. The legal limit is with pedals, mounts, etc., and it was set to make sure every rider has more or less the same bike between his legs, for fair play. So it's actually the other wat around: pro bikes are now heavy bikes. And among pro bikes, they're growing heavier each year.
Almost as good as the Eurobike. Almost.
Just put some new grease in the Eurobike's hubs and its weight will push it down from mountains faster than anyone else can pedal ;-)
What’s the size of the frame?
Yes it will
No gear ratio?
Also to recommend is the all new C68. Saw it yesterday, what a beauty (@ 15'000.- €)

I’m enjoying the bike so far ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.
Should have used rim on the climbs. Rear disc locked up on the descent. Give me a rim brake Colnago any day over this bike.
They bike is very light. You weighed it with the bottles so it's most likely I sub 7kg bile with computer and pedals removed
7 kg is not very light, at all... The 6.8 kg limitation is a safety and financial fair-play rule, not a technical achievement. Nowadays, a light bike weighs between 5 and 6 kg.

That's were they keep the transponder, I believe.
The correct pronunciation is Protòtipo ;)
I love that bike. I know that Shimano is excellent but I like his choice of Campanolo Super Record group. In my opinion it is the very best.
Campagnolo is a team sponsor not necessarily a Taddy choice
An Italian branded bike without campy running gear is almost a cycling sin in some books. Id say pog didn't have a say on who is the bike and parts sponsor.
Campy doesn't have EPS below SR level which is well behind the curve. And campy chorus used to be a beautiful groupset but in its current gen it's not that appealing anymore.
Campy has been left behind imo
Phillip left behind by what
? It’s as good as anything made.
Ferrari doesn’t make an entry level car either.
When Tadej cycles with his shirt undone flapping by his sides then all aerodynamic advantage of the bike is lost.
Not that the world cares but the accent in the Italian "prototipo" falls on the second syllable. Cool bike but I imagine a little out of my price range.
