Oh my giddy aunt, don't you wish every bike shop would be as thorough as you guys. Most of the shops I've ever used can't be arsed and even sometimes come back worse
This is the best channel for bike restoration, cleaning, detailing, and repairs on You Tube. Thanks again Lee for another wonderful video. A special thanks to Simon for all the work behind the camera. The father son teamwork is appreciated by your loyal fans. 👍👏
That 6800 Ultegra is still an awesome groupset. 👍👍I have the same groupset and I recently had all my cables overhauled (inners and outers) and stock pulley wheels replaced with some from BBB Rollerboys. It feels like a new bike! shifting is very crisp and effortless.
Thanks Simon for my Bikespeeds video fix. Great service especially on these bikes with cables running through the frame. That's an odd design routing the cables behind the headtube. Cracking job as usual.
Similar "mini V-brakes" are popular for cyclo cross bikes since they can be coupled with the mechanical advantage (leverage) provided by the cable actuating STI levers. They are an alternative for cantilever brakes.
@@KarlosEPM Interesting. I converted a hybrid bike with more conventional V-brakes to drop bars and opted for single-purpose long-pull brake levers and bar-end shifters. I chose this arrangement because long-pull 9-speed STI shifters would have cost more than the bike is probably worth in this configuration (LOL). Makes a decent gravel bike and a great winter bike. Probably one-of-a-kind.
You mention giving a like for the editor, for anyone who has never edited a video, it usually takes about 3 times longer than the video is long. But something for the viewer to consider, they film this over a few days, meaning that there is hours of video to go through and the editor picks out the parts they want and does the editing magic to it, then the voice over needs to be added to the video and also the music. All those parts need to match up right to have a smooth video, and most viewers who don’t edit video will never realize that editing takes a lot of patience and an eye for details. I not only give you a like but also huge applause 👏 👏 👏 for your efforts. On top of that, your group effort is why I drop a like and a comment on every video you put out, you deserve every view and more.
Nice going once again 😁 this is the time bike shops can get busy as people are looking to get there racing bike ready for the new season starting in march 😁
A huge thank you for this video. This is the bike frame I'm on currently. I am resisting upgrading, as my Propel is solid and rides well in the group, full of much more expensive bikes. I have done a good job of keeping it clean and serviced, but watching you has given me some ideas on where I can improve. I will definitely invest some time in waxing and protective coating it.
We will be putting this specific ceramic coating on our website a month or two from now! It’s definitely a nice final touch for those who really care, enjoy your propel Mario!🧡
The thing I love about the videos you guys do is consistency. Consistency in uploading, but also in quality of the finished product, video and bike both!
Haha you would not believe the hustle on the weekly videos. Simon usually finishes them just a few hours before they go out on Wednesday then straight back to filming Thursday! But the support and the comments is a really nice pay off for the hardwork so as always thank you🧡
Nice work Simon! Your work is greatly appreciated from Cincinnati, OH USA! I enjoy all your videos! Can you all do a video on how to properly index a bike gears? I’ve seen other videos present this (from GCN) but I think you guys will explain it better! Thank you!
Hi sohil thanks for the support! We never really do specific how to content but in short… Drop your chain to the lowest gear. Wind your thumb adjust back to the start. Up shift your bike one gear. Turn the chain and the thumb adjuster simultaneously until it shifts up the gear. Then you should be indexed 🧡
Simon, my man! Your work is much appreciated, stellar performance, both from you and your old man. Being a senior citizen myself I can almost get emotional over the father/son project you guys share. Keep up the good work!💪🏻
I always appreciate the effort that you and Simon always put into giving us this great videos.. Much love from Kenya Nairobi 🇰🇪🇰🇪.. Keep up the good work..
Giant revised the cable routing design a couple of times since the gen 1 propel, the gen 2 had the gear and hydraulic brake cables still going over the stem but tucked in under a cover and through the headset bearings. The gen 3 now routes the cables under the stem through the headset bearings in a much sleeker design. All designs trying to improve on the issue picked up in this service. In the near future solving for cable routing will be a thing of the past with di2 now so affordable on the Shimano 105 product.
Giant could easily have done a better job of designing the routing. Allowing one to screw down the cap to the cable port and a better attachment of the cable guides would have been a major start. Or providing alternative cable entry points somewhere on the head or downtube for less friction. As it is, the design is so poor that most propel owners I know just went for di2 anyway.
Extremely satisfying to see the results in all your videos. I could literally watch them for hours! As others have said, Wednesdays wouldn't be as good without a Bikespeeds vid. looking forward to your upcoming website too.
I only found your channel a couple of weeks ago and have been watching these videos at a good pace and I already love the work you and Simon do! Thank you!
Hi Simon, it is really nice to see you working such a cool bike. I currently own a Giant Propel Advanced and learned a lot about how you can replace the inner cables for shifting and braking. Thx!
Another great video guys. Well done for the 1st class video editing Simon, as always, lots of support and appreciation for you on here and rightly so. Know from Lee how much you put into it and how much attention to detail you have, even knowing when your dad is saying certain phrases when using the editing software. Good work lads, 20k subs soon 👍
Only just discovered your channel - great work both on service and video - also fantastic to see before and after - often think a lot of people would save a fortune on servicing (and new bikes) if they just cleaned their bike sometimes
I look forward to your videos every week. I like the variety of bikes you choose to show. Super nice road bikes, to budget hybrid bikes, you always give the same attention to detail and they all come out looking fantastic. As I've said before, I find your content almost meditative with he way you shoot these videos and your calming voice. You also inspire me to work on my own aging fleet of bikes. Great stuff!
Thanks Dan that’s a great comment! All of the things you mentioned are choices we do try to make so it’s nice to hear that they landed with you. We enjoy the variety ourselves we think just working on high end road bikes would get boring very quickly so we like the variety 🧡⚙️
Another triumph lads, great stuff. Thanks to you both for all the hard work and wider commitment to the cycling world. Your passion is exemplary 👏👏👏. Chapeau
Another great job lads. Its an eye opener seeing the the various lubricants specific for each component. Really satisfying to watch this video, the level of care and conciencious mindset is on another level. As ever, your videos continue to inspire me to care for my bikes. Keep 'em coming
Love your videos, have been doing what you guys do for years, full service + polishing. I use a Proxxon Micomot WP/E polisher it makes such a good result on paint.

Thanks Todd! 🧡⚙️
You make all that cable stuff look easy. I think I'll stick to my old bike with the cables on the outside, where I can see what they are doing. 😅
The customer will be pleased with that result!
I hope you are feeling better you sound a bit sick or tired.... and good job Simon.
This was a first thing in the morning voiceover lol recorded just 11 hours before the video came out🧡
Shout out to Simon. I love these videos
Thanks from Simon!
Bike speeds gets better and better each week .
Thanks Roymichael!🧡⚙️
Great job Simon 👍
Thanks!
Brilliant guys, great video. I love the look of the new chain on the clean cluster. Thanks heaps.
As do we! Thanks David 🧡⚙️
Top job Simon and your getting close to 20k subscribers I remember when you was looking for 10k. It’s worth the effort and cannot wait for Wednesday 👍
It’s been a long grind! We appreciate you sticking with us. We’re hopeful for what the future may hold🧡⚙️

Awesome! Bringing a bike back with some maintenance feels great. Thanks for watching🧡⚙️
They is not much difference feeling between the 6800 and the 8000 for full cable version
Thanks Simon for my Bikespeeds video fix. Great service especially on these bikes with cables running through the frame. That's an odd design routing the cables behind the headtube. Cracking job as usual.
Yes it was odd. A bit of unnecessary aero there we felt. Thanks for love as always!🧡
I've never seen V-brakes like these before. I would imagine they work really well.
Similar "mini V-brakes" are popular for cyclo cross bikes since they can be coupled with the mechanical advantage (leverage) provided by the cable actuating STI levers. They are an alternative for cantilever brakes.

You are spot on. Many many hours are put into this process. Editing is a marathon each week but worth it for the support🧡
I might have mentioned this before but I always like the video and every comment, hope it helps the algorithm. 😀
Thanks! It really does help us grow which at the end of the day is the goal, we’d love to take the channel to the next level so we appreciate it🧡
That cassette went from coal black to mercury silver. Amazing transform! Great stuff 😊
